yes the lard bread is a winner

My boyfriends lives a block away and I shop for my city friends here. The lard bread is fantastic. If you are wondering about it, it basically is a fresh loaf with ham or something like it baked into it. No need to make a sandwich out of it.
The cookie platters are great as well, we take them to our friends at the Porsche dealerships in Roslyn and Huntington for better service... Now they guys are requesting the lard bread as well..
In the very early morning hours you can ring the bell and get a fresh loaf.
- Pros: fantastic baked goods, al;ways fresh and a super clean store
- Cons: NONE!
Try the Cinnamon rolls!

Best local italian bakery - and that's saying a lot in this neighborhood full of great ones. Lovely italian cookies and breads, wonderful coffee and the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had - no gooey frosting - just pure cinnamon, butter, and sugar. After leaving the neighborhood I still drive down from Albany periodically to stock up.
Great Fresh bread, cookies and their specialty---lard bread!

This bakery is outstanding! I only began to go there after Camareri's, the "Moonlight" bakery closed down and discovered their excellent fresh bread and their big specialty...lard bread...an Italian specialty that barely makes it home before it is devoured! Outstanding! I just started buying their great cookie packages for my office at Christmas and they were gone!! Had to get more. Same response with anyone I bought the cookies for! Now, I understand, the owners have taken over a pizzeria across the street, newly named Francesco's ,and I will be sure to give that a try based on my experience with this gem of a bakery.-
warning: the lard bread is addictive!!

One of the top bakeries in NYC. Their breads are fresh and their lard bread is to die for. They also have a great assortment of cookies and cupcakes (and have holiday selections as well). They also distribute their goods to local merchants, so you can get Mazzola products without going to the bakery itself. However, the bakery location is the freshest, and once again...lard bread. (It sounds bad but it is so good)

Mazzolas has delicious fresshly baked bread but it is also the best choice for a saturday coffee and muffin. I love their mini muffins, 4/$1.50 - tasty deal!

I am a native Texan (and of Scottish descent to top it off), my boyfriend,however, is an Italian from Brooklyn. He introduced me to this place because his whole family shops there. It is the BEST fresh bread I have ever had! Mazzola should be #1 on the list of bakeries, for sure!

This place is heaven, esp. if you catch the bread coming out from the oven. The cheese bread and the chocolate bread will blow your mind. I'm addicted.

- Cons: no seating, not open 24 hours
