I live not to far from there so go in for a bite now and then. Pasta dishes are great, pizza is nothing spectacular.
- Pros: good pasta
- Cons: pizza nothing so great
Good Food, Crappy Attitudes
by Brooklyn Foodie at Citysearch
I've eaten at L&B's on many occasions. The last time we went there it was for a friend's casual birthday dinner. The food was pretty good but the wait staff are so pushy! They kept pressuring us to get this dinner special - we didn't want it, plain and simple. The waiter/manager/whoever kept coming back to us and telling us to order it. After refusing for like the 5th time, he stopped nagging. However, he brought a sample to our table without being asked. It tasted good but whats with the harassment?
In addition, they lavished attention on tables that ordered their special but kind of threw us dirty looks. WTF? We were a huge group and ordered tons of food!
The food is good, but not good enough to endure the machismo of the wait staff. They are oftentimes pushy and rude whenever I go in there. We eat there on occasion when we're in the mood for some pasta. Its convenient location for us.
This place is also a hang out for Bensonhurst townies, which can be a turn-off for some people from other parts of Brooklyn. Its not really a big deal though.
- Pros: Good pastas
- Cons: Staff are pushy and rude
Reputation sells
by gz81 at Citysearch
L&B is a place that is fondly thought of due to it being such a Brooklyn staple. The pizza is hit or miss (although it's been hit more lately). The restaurant is actually pretty good, with a simple Italian menu and a home-cooked type vibe to it. If you don't want the 18th ave feast to be the only place to see people you went to high school with, then this is the place for you.
- Pros: Classic hangout spot, decent pizza
- Cons: Overrated
L and B has good italian dishes & spumoni not great pizza
by Jospeh In Brooklyn at Citysearch
For 20 or more Years I have heard about how great these square slices were at L and B spumoni gardens. Well i must say i was let down big time. Average crust, not great, Decent sauce, also not great. Not enough cheese on the pie. A diffrent type of pizza is good once in a while, this is defanitly diffrent, but it will not blow you away or have you wanting to run back there the next day for another slice or two. I would say its like making a trip to OUTBACK steakhouse. The steak is not great, but people like goin there right? Well can you compare a steak from Outback with a steak from Peter Lugers?
I DONT THINK SO!.
I would have to say that most people whom speak great about this place have had to been raised on this pizza, or have shared alot of special family moments at this place, also maybe people feel comfortable and get a good vibe when at L and B. However It is just not a place you can seriously rate so high up with Difarras. lombardis, Grimaldis, Lucali, Johns of bleeker, Totonnos. These places i mentioned are some Heavy hitters when it comes to truely great pizza
Make a trip and try it, if you know Great pizza i am sure you will agree.
- Pros: Good Spumoni & Outdoor Eating
- Cons: Pizza is not worth the wait
Spumoni GArdens

Don't listen to that man who said it's dough factory. I love the fresh dough, it makes the pizza right and perfect. Great fresh pies and excellent used ingredients. In the resturaunt there are delicious muscles and pasta dinners. The square slices are great, especially the middle. Best pizza in Brooklyn I sware to God. A nice seating area. Service is pretty quick and the beer is awesome. Theres a tent to sit under incase it's cold or raining. Lots of police officers eat here. It's like the home to residents of Bensonhurst who are in the mood for pizza. It borders gravesend. Transportation is available from anywhere in the City.
- Pros: Cheap
- Cons: Crowds, Noise, Long Lines, Blasting Music Saturday Nites
THIS IS A DOUGH FACTORY NOT PIZZERIA
by scillato at Citysearch
This was my first and last visit to L&B Spumoni Gardens pizzeria or as I would call it DOUGH FACTORY. They make one kind of pizza with pizza sauce that is cooked for 3 hours, very acidy. It ripped the walls of my intestines and it gave me blisters in my tongue for a few days. I do not know what the americans like to eat but it is not certainly pizza to me. This kind of pizza is not made in Sicily. There is no variety and the people behind the counter don't even speak english. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, IT IS CROP.. I lived in Sicily and I can assure you this is not sicilian pizza, in Sicily we make Sfincione!!!!!!!.
- Pros: none
- Cons: Sauce very acidy
by far, best pizza in NY.

I love L&B pizza, you just have to try it for yourself. I'm originally from Brooklyn, and can honestly say that I've had my share of delicious pizza. Nothing compares to L&B!

I dont know where to start being that I have been eating here since I was 4 years old and be it the pizza or the spumoni YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG!!!!!!!!! Dont be stupid and get a regular slice like a tourist you will only hate yourself and watch everyone else enjoying thier sicilian !
- Pros: The best pizza you can find in Brooklyn or the country at that
- Cons: They can get very busy at times but its always worth the wait and always fresh!
The best of the best
by lanoweffect at Citysearch
This pizza is without a doubt the best pizza i have ever had. People would say no this is the best pizza in New York, i tried it. Did not even come close. I guarantee if you try this, you will think it's amazing also. The softness of the dough, the perfect amount of cheese. A great cheese/sauce/bread ratio and surprisingly good service for an ordering window.
Really Good Sicilian!!!
by hackerfoodie31 at Citysearch
I was travelling around Bklyn when we passed L&B Spumoni Gardens. The name rung a bell, so I had to try it. Regular slices were just average but the Sicilian Slice was unbelievable!!!!! I really enjoyed it and the unorthodox dough, cheese, sauce layering... Different and delightful! Highly recommend!!!
