Club Exit

With a heavy nod to Manhattan's west 20s, club-goers step off Greenpoint's quiet streets and onto the dance floor.

Blonde women, muscled men, and smokers cluster around an unmarked facade, giving away the dark tunnel-like entrance to Club Exit. Inside, the zebra-print concrete floors, soaring ceilings with red gossamer lights and an illuminated bar--one of three--create an impressive backdrop for the well-scrubbed predominately Polish crowd that comes to drown out the week with vodka and high-decibel DJs. Branching off the main space are the lower bar, suited for dancing, and the upper, for lounging amid smoke, testosterone and red-rimmed eyes.

Hits: With an active smoke machine, strong air conditioning and a non-judgmental approach to dancing, even wallflowers may find themselves drawn onto the dance floor.

Misses: Apart from the entranceway, those in need of a respite or an intimate conversation will be hard-pressed to find much relief from the crush of noise and partygoers.
