Best Coffee in New York!

by renedevlin

I love Ozzie's. I started coming to Ozzie's the day it opened in Park Slope about 15 years ago when my first child was in a stoller. Some of the baristas have seen my children grow up and some are new or passing through but they are all friendly and helpful and know how to make a latte with with a good head of foam. I love the fact that the owners retained the original wooden shelves from the apothocary the store once was. It contributes the the warm and inviting atmosphere. I have continued to return to Ozzie's a couple of times a week even after moving out of the neighborhood. I gotten to know the owners, who also have an Ozzie's on 5th Avenue with a slightly different vibe but the same great coffee, and it's always a plus to sit down with them for a chat. The baked goods are excellent and they also serve hearty soups in the winter and delicious herbal ice tea in the summer. They just got an oven on site and the fresh baked croissants are to die for! But it's the fat-free latte that I can't live without!

  • Pros: Ambiance, Service, Value, Coffee
  • Cons: None

Best Coffee in the Slope!

by Codered1

In seven years I have not found any where better for coffee or tea than Ozzies. I do not live in the slope anymore and I still make it a point to go there for coffee. Great coffee which they roast on the premises. Great Pastries to go with the coffee. The owner is very friendly, She has no problem with sitting down with the guests just to talk. The workers will also know your name on your second or third visit to the shop. Sure Ozzies is busy, but the patron that it attracts are very nice and friendly, I have met couple of people there and I feel very comfortable taking my kid there for somethiing to eat. Try the pecan pie or the carrot squares they are very tasty. The teas are also great. Not to mention the neighbourhood that it is situated in. What more can you ask for?.

The coolest neighborhood coofee house in Park Slope!

by pedrodude

Both stores have their own and unique charm, while the 7th Ave location is more cozy and tends to get crowded faster (especially on weekends) is only due to the excelent coffee and funky ambiance that attracks everyone from movie directors, actors, writers, students, artists and people from all over. They roast their own coffee on the premises so you can be sure that the coffee is always fresh and more importanly, equitable. You can see the owners mingling around with the crowd and the people who works there most likely would now your name if you been there more than once. Apart from the wide selection of coffee and pastries you always get good and corteous service. The music is also great! On the 5th Ave location you can find a more spacious and relaxed place where to study and have a nice chat, kids love it there too. Their coffee drinks are just amazing and delicious and with a very reasonable price. From their website or by phone you can also get your coffee ship anywhere in the US too. Both locations are very well located in the heart of Park Slope, near everything so while you stroll down the beautiful streets and sidewalks of Park Slope make sure you make a stop at one of their locations to have the full Park Slope experience. You won't be dissapointed.

  • Pros: cool vibe, nice service, great music, awesome selection of coffees, great location
  • Cons: waiting in line on weekends doesn't really count as a drawback, is only a sign of Ozzie's popularity.

Great little coffee shop.

by erobsparents

Busy - yes, but that means they're doing something right! Good coffee, tasty desserts, friendly atmosphere. I love to sit and people watch at it's corner location.

Coffee is a little better than the 5th Ave. location

by sfrucht02

While the coffee is better than the 5th Ave. location, it's still severely noisy and crowded. Not a place you can study, work, read the paper.

Had better days

by zaranoff

Used to be a popular coffee shop, until the Tea Lounge (on Union St, not the one on 12th St) opened and ?stole? all its clientele. I don?t know how they stay in business. The tables are small, the chairs uncomfortable, and organized in a somewhat crowded manner. But their food & drinks are decent, and since it?s not busy, if you don't mind the seating, it can be a relatively quiet spot to read or do your work on your laptop. Overall: so-so.

  • Pros: Relatively quiet, food ok
  • Cons: uncomfortable seating, dull place

Get a shot of espresso in a shotgun house, a neighborhood joint predating the coffee-chain conquest of NYC.

by Contributor

In Short
This long, narrow corner coffeehouse (founded in 1993) has won over loyal customers with its international selection of on-site roasted beans and a menu extending way beyond baked goods and pastries. At the row of small round tables that abut glass cabinets stocked with French presses, teapots and cups galore, the constant crowd noshes on sandwiches, soups or salads almost as often as it sips on cups of chai, tea or joe.
