If you want to waste MONEY and TIME
by TPeteson

If you want to waste money and time come to Brawta!!! The service was horrible, the waitress was very NASTY. She rolled her eyes, stomped her feet and was just flat out nasty. I didn't know who was acting worst her or my 3 year old son!!!! there was nothing for my son to eat other than the Mac & Cheese. I asked for chicken wing with out the spicy sauce for him, our waitress took it upon herself to add sauce to the wings. I think you should ask if you would like sauce rather than just adding it. Needless to say that my son never ate the wings yet I paid for them to keep the peace. After waiting the 25 minute wait time that they tell you about for seafood, my fush was DRY and had NO flavor.
The owner was "helping" she did take out orders but when there were no take out orders she did nothing!!! We were a party of 15 and she never asked us if we needed anything or how was the food or service.
What I will say is that their prices aren't bad, but for what you get it is the WORST!!!
- Pros: none
- Cons: none
Great Curried Goat by Amy M. at InsiderPages

This neighborhood place has great curried goat, but my friend who I went with told me they sometimes run out if you don't get there early enough (it's mighty good, but eat slow and watch out for little slivers of bone). They don't skimp on the rice and peas, and there are plenty of red beans in it. I was disappointed to find they were closed over Christmas and New Years when I had a taste for Jamaican food. The food is spicy enough and the friendly servers will take the time to explain what all the specialties are. The interior is a little cramped, but the charm of the place makes up for it.
Lousy Food

We went to this place on Mother's Day and it was the worst experience ever. The service was slow and to top it iff one of the waitresses was wearing a sleveless shirt and you could see a fist full of underarm hair showing.....can you say YUK!!!!
Secondly, the food was was not worth the price. When the food finally came they forgot some of the side items and the lettuce in the salad was brown. The meal was flavorless and needless to say we all left there hungry.
I would not go back there if you paid me.......check out Sugarcane instead. The atmosphere is much better and the food is excellent!!!

The food was late, cold and average. Don\'t waste your money. The service was also terrible.
Sunny Caribbean cooking and an upbeat, colorful vibe.

The Scene
Bright lime-green wainscotting bolsters the abundant natural light in a room that exudes mellow happiness. Carved wooden artifacts share wall space with oversized Bob Marley posters and colorful oil paintings. The ten tables are nicely spaced, and meals here take a slower pace--relaxed service encourages diners to stay a while.
The Food
Among the "big tings" on the menu, the goat roti--filled with chickpeas and rice and wrapped in a warm, soft, buttery flatbread--is quite good, although you'll have to watch out for hunks of meat still on the bone. Ackee, an eggy, flan-like fruit that (with saltfish) is Jamaica's national dish, is served daily with a mix of cod, onions and peppers; it's somewhat like an egg scramble. Seafood is abundant and comes stewed, steamed, grilled and escoveitched, for those who like the spice. Ordering dessert? Ask for the boozy rum sauce on the side.

I really enjoyed my visit. I went on a Sunday night and it was a full house but we were seated within minutes. This is definitely a place to eat if your not in a rush. For the other comments about the long wait time for the food, it clearly states on the menu that there is at least a 20 minute wait for ALL seafood orders. At least you know your getting it fresh. I would definitely recommend this as layed back, not snooty at all.
some like it hot!!

Have been going to Brawta since it was a small take out shop with three tables. The food is consistently good. Excellent curry, roti, escovitch and curry chicken patties. And the ginger beer and other drinks are mostly homemade and fiery.
- Pros: Shrimp curry, Roti, Ginger beer
I fell in love here

The jerk shrimp, brown stew red snapper, roti, chicken I could go on and on. I haven't tried a dish on the menu I didn't like.
Great atmosphere, great service they make you feel like a regular even on your first visit (which definately won't be your last).
The only down side is they don't sell alcohol but you can always bring your own bottle of wine (or beer) and they'll supply the opener and glasses. There's a cool bar next door (great people there too) if you forget to BYOB.
- Pros: great food, great vibes, great service
- Cons: BYOB
