worst car service ever

Just had the worst cab experience ever. Waited an hour -- dispatcher kept saying 5 minute, 10 minutes, 3 minutes. Will never call Arecibo again. If you can't trust the dispatcher, who CAN you trust?!

- Cons: ridiculously long wait, inaccurate time estimates from dispatcher
Rude and Always Late!

This car service has been around Park Slope for years and for years I was loyal. But I just had to give up after the 100th time of them being late, rude on the phone and really rude when you call back after they are 20 minutes late with a car. I'm done. Would rather use, Family, New Belle or anyone rather than these guys. Never again.

I scheduled a car pick up for 8 the next moring to take me from Prospect Heights to Brooklyn Heights. They were there on time. going there it cost me 11 dollars but coming back it cost me 10. I say they need a better pricing system, not that the pricing was outrageous, just not consistant. But i does the job andill call them again when i need them.

It was just a dollar and I could care less but it is a matter of principal ... We were tired of walking all day so we asked the guy at the dispatch how much it would be to go about 2 miles. He said $7 and we said we would pay $6, he said okay that's fine. We got in the car and told the driver that we agreed on $6. He insisted on $7 and started driving. We kept saying that we had agreed on $6 however he just ignored us, turned on the radio and kept driving. We should have just jumped out of the car when he came to a stop. However, five minutes later we were at our destination and he kept insisting on $7. We paid him the $7 with no tip. I know that it was a only a dollar but when you agree on a price only to have it not honored it really bothers me. We will not be using them again. It's not like there are not any other car services.

I used to love Arecibo, and used it whenever I needed a car from or to Park Slope. But about a month ago (November 2007) their phone service was suddenly extremely sloppy and rude. Cars that were supposed to arrive in five minutes! never came, assuming you could even get someone to pick up the phone and talk to you long enough to place a reservation. After the third time I was hung up on while calling for a car, I swore to never use Arecibo again.
I've only had good experiences, I swear! :)

When I first moved to Brooklyn, I tried calling EVERY CAR SERVICE IN TOWN to come pick me up to bring me to the airport! Arecibo was the only one to show up! Not only did they show up, but it seemed they were there as soon as I hung up my phone and put my coat on. I actually had to make him wait a bit so I could grab my keys, bag, ticket and lock up behind myself. He was kind enough to ask me when I was returning home and picked me up from the airport right on time! He took me back to my apt as I snoozed in the back seat. He was a sweetheart. They've even taken me with my dog to the vet with no issues. And I'm never over-charged. I'm not too concerned with the looks of the car so long as its comfy and gets me there on time.

Driver went towards wrong airport (LaGuardia) and when we arrived at JFK, tried to charge more for his mistake. When we called dispatcher to resolve the situation, he was sarcastic and unhelpful. Driver tried to keep the car in motion to prevent us from getting out, so he could get his extra 10 dollars. Obviously a bad experience and I would never use again.
PROS: Fairly cheap
CONS: Irresponsible, rude, mistake-prone and extortionate

It seems that no matter where you are in Brooklyn Arecibo can come pick you up within five minutes; which is great. As long as you don't mind riding in some dilapidated car where the windows don't go down and there usually is not AC and/or heat. But they do get you there all in one piece at a relatively reasonable price. You could do a lot worse.
