I agree with Lizhy about the 20 minutes of preaching being a waste of time and money, when other centers focus on the practice more than imparting the accumulated wisdom of a person in their 20's. Also I find their card policy a bit dated for 2008. I don't know what job or purpose the very skinny and effeminate man in his 60's watching over everyone served, but something is not right about the way he kept staring at people and grinning, it made me very uncomfortable!!!!

Instructors are more interested in passing along "wisdom" than instructing yoga. Some may be different, but those I have had usually start class with 15-30 minutes of chanting and telling us their thoughts. Frankly, I find nothing "enlightening" about a 20-something finding peace by releasing a rodent instead of killing it. This isn't what I pay for. And, if you need to take a yoga class to strengthen your back, sitting on a wood floor for 30 minutes is very uncomfortable. I've taken about 10 classes and left maybe 2 feeling as if I've streched and had some sort of exercise. For the most part, instructors take us through the same basic poses again and again, but offer no real direction so we end up doing them wrong over and over. In the last class I took, the instructor pointed out a student who had never taken classes before and told everyone to see that she was doing the pose wrong. When the student asked how to do it correctly, the instructor said, "Just keep practicing and you'll get it right." If it's that easy, why bother coming in at all? Just move around at home until you somehow magically recognize that you're doing it correctly. I really wish my class card was refundable.
Pros: Nice space, no problems with front desk
Cons: Bad instructors and crowded classes on weekends

The class was great, but the front desk staff= weird... Took one class and was bothered by how they tried to 'sell me' a package. Weird...

Your yoga experience really depends on the teacher. Some are better than others--depending on your practice as well..I had been there a few times, not loving it, but the atmosphere is so tranquil, it drew me back. I was especially pleased after having my worst yoga ever at Jaya. I LOVED my last 2 teachers here, and was very impressed with their confidence and intelligence. They were very welcoming to beginners, and very supportive at every level. Nikki and Sasha are amazing, and I promise--I don't work for this place! I just LOVE it!! Wish I was there now....ommmmmm
Pros: Great Teachers, Nice changing area, Smiling People
Cons: Crowded classes!

Laid-back atmosphere of a neighborhood studio (love the skylight and hanging plants) with some top-notch vinyasa teachers. Have never taken a class I didn't love there. I always leave blissed out, happy to have discovered something new, and drenched in sweat. I just wish they had a shower.
Pros: my favorite teachers
Cons: no showers

the best feature of PSYC is the center is dedicated only to yoga!!! no aerobics, kickboxing, gym equiptment, etc. teachers are very experienced and helpful to students of all levels. sometimes classes are a bit too crowded.

Comfortable space, some skill variety in teachers. Reception area could be more pleasant/helpful.
Pros: Nice Space, Convenient location

Pretty crowded classes, although I have only taken them at night and on weekends. Maybe the weekday afternoons are less packed. Teachers seem to be exclusivley male, as are the students. (I was the only guy there each time I went, and I felt a little out of place, but no-one said anything about it) Good flow to the classes, but overall, more folks in the room than seemed appropriate.

Crowded, but nice room in which to do yoga. Maybe the daytime sessions aren't as packed, I only am around for evening and weekend classes. I did think the room was too hot, though.
Pros: Nice room for yoga, Decent price, Good variety of teach
Cons: Packed with bodies, Too hot

Nice place, but all three classes I went to were VERY crowded. Good instructors, but somewhat more competetive an environment than I have enjoyed at other centers.
Cons: Too crowded!
