You can bank on more than cool architecture at this little neighborhood gym.

The Scene
The ultra-classical facade is a reminder of the building's former occupant, Montauk Bank, and gives this low-key, independent gym a quirky calling card to distinguish it from its competitors. Inside, a loyal staff fosters the truly communal vibe and explains why the devoted core membership has stayed with the gym despite the chains, yoga studios and other (larger) local fitness facilities that have sprung into existence nearby.

The Workout
Since the equipment is primarily Cybex, Brooklynite owner Sal Mammana's pride is his wide selection of orderly free weights. Despite its spatial constraints, Body Reserve provides diversity options. On two cardio balconies, find elliptical, Stairmaster, rowing and treadmill machines, and upright and recumbent stationary bikes. A room once used by the bank president is now used for stretching. Classes, basically yoga and Spinning, are offered early morning and late afternoon.
