What users are saying:
Housecalls- awesome.
by kgbinnyc at Citysearch
As a 'why isn't it working?' type of computer user, I rely on Steve to give me honest advice. My first laptop he identified the broken part, ordered it, and _brought it to my house_- awesome.
The second time the laptop malfunctioned he told me honestly that it wasn't worth the cost of fixing- thanks! My friends use him now as well.
Friendly, intelligent, flexible, but I have to say the housecalls were the best part.
- Pros: housecalls, honest advice
- Cons: none so far

Quick Byte: great service
by lwhits74 at Citysearch
Quick Byte helped me rescue a final draft of my masters thesis from my PC and saved me hours of work that would otherwise have been lost. Great service and they don't mind putting up with panicky grad-students!
- Pros: on-site or over the phone help depending on issues
Amazing Tech Support

I have used Quickbyte whenever I have had any sort of computer problems for the last three years. Steve always answers my calls quickly and has even helped me recover a hard drive on a Sunday night! He has been honest when it was time to throw something out rather than spend the money to repair it, and has suggested where and what to buy. I feel like he takes the time to think about the needs of MY business, and suggests software and hardware solutions accordingly.
P.S. He will also nag you to back up your system -- a good thing!
- Pros: Fast Professional service, Knowledgeable, no bullsh*t
QUICK BYTE WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL! I (Okay, maybe not your soul but your computer and sanity....)
by princessbbgun at Citysearch
Quick Byte's Steve Lastoe has saved me so many times I ought to be erect a statue in his honor. From bringing my computer back from the dead to setting up my operating system, from resurrecting my hard drive and saving lost/deleted files, to replacing my keyboard after my son poured nail polish remover into it, and done it all with great speed, infinite patience and good humor.
The fact that Lastoe can pick up the computer at your house, or can work in your home when feasible, and deliver the machine when it's done has been a enormous help to me. Ditto the fact that he thinks about your wallet, researching your options thoroughly and offering you the best deals possible on parts. Not only that he provides a free newsletter to his clients--yes, he grouses a lot about backing up your files--offering all sorts of indispensable info.
I feel incredibly lucky to know Lastoe and Quick Byte, and you should be so lucky too....
- Pros: Speed, efficiency, brillance
- Cons: It costs money

Very reliable, friendly, efficient service. As a writer who works at home I have called on Steve on numerous occasions for a variety of different computer problems; his help was also invaluable in setting up our home network. I recommend Quickbyte with enthusiasm.
Conscientious Personal Service

Steve is the best. He knows how to make priorities and is quick to help if there's a crisis (quickbyte). It's old fashioned personal professional service...an increasingly a rare virtue.
Quickly and efficiently fixed both my PC and Mac, could have charged more.

I called him for a PC problem which he fixed forthwith - came over that
evening. Also suggested that I reconfigure a few things that he said I could do
personally, instead of paying someone (him) to do. A week later I called him
again because what I thought he had fixed had busted. He came over and
demonstrated in 20 seconds that I had miswired something, and didn't charge me
anything because "he was in the area anyway."
A three months later I had a problem with my Mac and he diagnosed it too, and
saved me a week's wait on getting it looked at by... other vendors in
Manhattan.
Great computer service

I'm a solo practitioner in a suite of lawyers, most of whom are likewise on their own. Most of us, like many lawyers, don't know a thing about computers. QuickByte is responsive, efficient, cost-effective and even friendly. We put in a call and receive a call back that day, plus a prompt appointment, and in no time the problem is set right. QuickByte not only delivers terrific service but also dispenses useful computer advice in witty, free newsletters devoid of incomprehensible computer geek lingo, telling people like me what to buy, what to refrain from buying and whether or not to wait before making a purchase. Absolutely recommended.
- Pros: Responsive and knowledgeable
- Cons: Have not encountered any
