Still searching for my weekend bagel
by retailgirl
I just moved into the neighborhood and this is the first place I've tried and I will be moving on. First off, the bagel was small. Secondly, on a Sunday morning with lots of people coming in and out I expected fresh bagels, but instead got a stale, overly chewy bagel hard bagel. Their veggie cream cheese was good. But after 3/4 of the bagel I felt like it was stuff in my esophagus.
- Pros: good cream cheese
- Cons: bagels
eh...

In not sure how BH convinced people that "real bagels" are tiny and mostly dried out, but nice work. If i could give one tip - move the microwave to the back so we cant see how the egg sandwiches are prepared. yech.
Go to Connecticut Muffin instead (15st and Prospect) - way better bagels.
- Pros: At least they speak a LITTLE English
- Cons: Small bagels, decent at best
go for the bagels, but nothing else

I agree with the other writer completely about the bagels: these are the real jewish bagels of my youth, piping hot early in the morning, dense, with a little crust. Forget about those giant rolls with holes that pass for bagel stoday, these are the real deal. But the place is a "hole," literally, and I wouldn't order much else from them. Get your cream cheese and lox and other goodies at Fairway.
- Pros: great bagels
- Cons: not much else to offer
This is the place for REAL bagels...

Someone complained there was no toaster, and not much lox. They missed the point. Target sells toasters. You can go to a fish store. Unfortunately, in New York City, there are very few places for the bagels we grew up with 50 or more years ago. And this is one of them. Treasure it. These bagels are not inflated inner tubes (take that, H&H) with no flavor or bad flavor. They are not soft rolls with a hole in them. They are BAGELS, the way G-d made them, right after Adam and the rest of the animals. Go there now. Toast it yourself, if you must toast it...
- Pros: Great Bagels, Great Bagels, Reasonable prices
- Cons: It's not close enough
Meh.

The Bagel Hole in Park Slope has a reputation for very good bagels. Unfortunately, on my visit, they did not live up to their reputation in the service department. The person who waited on me was very rude. In addition, they lack basic ammenities like a toaster, and the decor was shabby, at best. I'd recommend skipping this one.
- Pros: Decent bagel
- Cons: Rude staff, Lack toaster, Shabby Decor
Huh?

Yes, the bagels taste -- pretty good. And for that we should be grateful. But let's not forget the fairly inept staff and their constant lack of supplies (no lox on a Saturday morning happens regularly).
