Had dinner at Carmines and it was fantastic. They have a large menu. The food is always fresh. Their dishes are enough to share.

You must try the Chicken pene alla Karen

The portions at Carmine's are unbeatable at the price. Once thing that i really enjoyed is that the marinara sauce for the calamari was served at a perfect hot temperature. Speaking of the marinara, my dinner companion and I split the 'small' ($9) and it was tasty and not overly-breaded. We split a caesar salad ($3.25); small of course, but loved that the dresing was served on the side and was a fan of the shaved peccorino romano 'chips' on top. The chicken parmagiana ($7) features two huge chicken breasts over a good-sized portion of pasta. In my two visits to Carmine's, this has become my favorite item. The chicken was freshy and cheesy and again, served piping hot. The personal pizza ($7) was a bit of a letdown; huge, but the 'fresh mozarella' looked suspisciously like white american when singed. The basil and plum tomatoes were tasty, but overall i found the pizza a bit lacking.

The service was Fantastic. I can't stress enough how friendly and conversational our busy waitress was. She moved us to a larger table (at her suggestion) when she noticed how crammed-with-food our table was. And she welcomed our quizzing her about her accent, which turns out was Italian Williamsburg-Queens-Bensonhurst, but apparently a number of customers think is Southern(?)

Overall, I will probably return for my third visit next week .

I just moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and happened upon Carmine's. I'm so glad I did! I've been to quite a few pizza places in Williamsburg and Carmine's far exceeds the rest. Everytime I think of venturing to a new place I'm always disappointed I did not return to Carmine's. I'm here at least once a week now. It's a little cramped for space, but even if you have to wait for a table it's sooo worth it!

  • Pros: Best Pizza!
  • Cons: small space

This place had wonderful pizza, absolutely the best in the neighborhood, and some of the best in the entire city. The decor is great - all Yankees memorabilia. The service is unfortunately lacking. Sometimes I feel like I'm invisible, and they do not have a designated 'order here' sign, which would be a great help. Their 'restaurant' in the back served mostly italian-american fare - too-big portions of alfredo, parms, meatballs, too much sauce, etc - comfort food. The service in the back is always atrocious, but I go here because I'm obviously craving something and 99% of the time its right on. Last time I went I ordered the fetuccini alfredo which is usually really good but it came to me as overcooked egg noodles with butter. Totally disgusting. And the waitress couldn't have cared less - she never offered to bring me another plate, she just took it away and didn't even ask about it, which I thought was unacceptable. But again, its usually great and I won't give up on this place - it will be around for a long long time if the quality is there.

  • Pros: best neighborhood pizza place
  • Cons: bad service all around

Carmines is a great neighborhood stample in Williamsburg. Everyone and anyone can be found dining there on any given night. The heros and wraps are all wonderful, the hot dishes are savory and the pizza is amoung the best in the city! High recommendations for the penne with chicken alla karen, pizza steak hero and ceaasar salad pizza ! Although delivery is sometimes slow, its worth it! The service is always great and the restaurant is always accomodating! Best of the best when it comes to great Italian food!

  • Pros: great food
  • Cons: slow delivery

I am so fortunate to live near this amazing pizzaria. Always good (have tried several types), and ultra accomodating (they stayed open late once to wait for us to pick up a pie). I know that there are a million pizza places in NYC, but I would rank this up with the best.

  • Pros: Great Pizza!!!
  • Cons: delivery a bit slow
