Why does it have such a high rating? Maybe the brunch is good. I went for dinner, the food wasn't awful but it definitely was not a 9.1. Maybe a 6.

Slipping

by fiona_gibb

I've been there a number of times (and always had a good meal), but had a disappointing experience this past weekend. The dates wrapped in smoked bacon were awful--whereas they once came with lovely mixed greens and a delicious balsamic vinagette, they were overcooked and served on a bed of bitter frisee. The hummus platter was better, but just average (and pretty bland). I make a superior version at home (and not even when I buy the makings from Whole Foods). My friend had soup and said it was just so-so also. I'm hoping this was a fluke.

Blah

by apricotdelight

Maybe I've just eaten in too many great restaurants, but I don't see what all the hype is about. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't superb. Flavorless hummus. I agree with one review that faulted the under-seasoned nature of all of it. Cute space and decent service, but the bartender made so much noise as he clanged and banged martini shakers and glasses around in the sink that it kind of ruined it. Also, The Beatles are great, but not at volume 11. My nerves were a bit jangled by the time we left. Not a bad experience, but not a really good one, either.

Beloved for brunch, Williamsburg's international bistro bustles during every meal.

by Contributor

The Scene
With its thoroughly relaxed vibe and globe-trotting menu, Oznot's Dish is a light in Williamsburg's culinary scene. The interior recalls an artist's studio; colorful chipped tile covers an attractive bar near the entrance. In warm weather, take to the relaxing sidewalk cafe or the sunny, greenhouse-like room near the back of the restaurant. The service is as low key as the food.

The Food
This expansive menu rambles through India, Morocco, Spain and the Middle East, drawing on the signature dishes and spices of each cuisine. Start with the seafood mezze platter, which highlights excellent house-cured salmon, or the pastry-wrapped duck bisteeya with pinenuts and mushrooms. Main dishes range from internationally-inspired comfort food--like juicy lamb burgers with Manchego--to homemade pastas. Huevos Tripoli--two eggs with brown rice, lentil stew, salsa, feta and harissa--is a brunch standby.

My Spot

by antonietta

I've been living in the 'burg for 4 years now and Oznot's is my place. Their dinner is one of the most exceptional dinners I've had in all of N.Y. I would say EVERYONE regardless of where they live should experience the unique, exceptional Oznot's restaurant. Their food is always balanced. The perfect amonut of vegetable, protein, and carb. The salmon with moroccon cous cous with roasted beets is wonderful. The chicken stuffed with goat cheese and figs is outstanding. The Bosc pear and blue cheese salad blew me away. Oznot's is a best kept secret, although packed for brunch, but I think few have caught on to how exceptional their dinner is. Elegant and comfortable with a really neat architectural interior. I almost don't feel like I'm in the middle of hipsterville because it is not pretentious just down right good- even for foodies!!!!

  • Pros: FOOD, FOOD, delicious
  • Cons: busy brunch

Pretty Good

by mjgirl

This place is pretty good for brunch during the week. The Moroccan steak and eggs are nice. The steak is a little tough and not much flavor. The dish needs to be spicer! I had to douse it in chili sauce. But it's still worth it. The bread that is served with the dish is nice. The Huevos Tripoli is also a nice dish that comes with lentils. And the Indian eggs are not as spectacular as they sound and are not filling. Not spicy either but good. Overall, the food is a little bland but decent. The water they serve you is warm!! And they give you no ice. Just bottles of warm water you pour yourself.

oasis in funky williamsburg

by binky

Oznots is great! We have had many meals here over the years and now as always it is unique among NY City restaurants. Entering this place is a bit transporting; very oasis -like ~ i have never seen a space quite like this in NY or anywhere! Great tasting unique mediterranean food, peasant like earthiness served with flare! A most amazing (very textured, far-out, colorful) interior space, a cool "glass house" garden-like sun room out back, sidewalk tables outside. Sometimes hip and crowded othertimes quiet and romantic. Some complain about the staff and I might add that they are young (sometimes a bit "lala"), but for the prices are about the usual. Unbelievable wine list. Great wine guy! My favorite dining in the burg for about as long as i can remember living here(7-10yrs?) Definitely not "eclipsed"!!!

  • Pros: creative food, inexpensive, great bar/drinks/wine
  • Cons: no smoking, hostess, some service kids

I keep on coming back

by Rohner

Great food, a wine list to gawk over, pleasant and unobtrusive service, interesting decor -- what's not to like?! oh yes, and did I mention the totally acceptable noise-level allowing for conversation?! The only time i was disappointed was for brunch but who cares? It's only eggs...

  • Pros: good food, awesome wine list, conversation-freindly
