Best french toast ever.

by jhsgpsy

Best whole wheat cinnamon french toast around. Salads OK. Chili needs heat (ask for hot sauce). Pleasant service/surroundings. Don't bother with the desserts/muffins (except perhaps the choc chip cookie) - get the french toast instead!

  • Pros: Casual, quiet.
  • Cons: Service may be slow at times.

busy but totally worth it!

by akudamae

i recently moved to Williamsburg and I have already found my favorite place for yummy vegan food in the hood! The wait staff there is quite nice & always accommodating, though sometimes it can get a busy in there, so patience can be key, but when you get your plate of goodness and your fresh juice or tea, you will realize that it was all worth it. Their garden salad, "bliss bowl", and homemade veggie burgers are awesome. I am a poor student, and can't afford to go out all the time, but I know I won't be disappointed when I go here. One word of warning: when it is cold outside, don't sit at the front table next to the door . . . high traffic and cold wind . . . eek!

  • Pros: Nice waitstaff, yummy food, homey feel
  • Cons: busy at dinner

bland, sad, vegetarian food

by sareduf

I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now and I don't understand why people think that vegetarians like food that tastes like nothing... this food was bland, tasteless, whatever you want to call it, it was not good. the portions were small and overpriced. I walked out feeling like i wasted my money and I was still hungry!

  • Pros: cute decor
  • Cons: bad food

Bliss might be a strong word....

by societalpariah

.....considering my initial reaction to the rather exreme noise level (thanks to one particularly rowdy bunch at a table in the corner) and bland soup course was more like 'oy vey'.....but I must admit, the food eventually won me over. Mom's cooking without the meat, the not-terribly-diverse but tempting nonetheless dinner menu is both filling and comforting, and the modest outer-boroughs price tag makes this place a definite return visit, particularly since it's only one train stop outside the city.

  • Pros: inexpensive, pleasant service, convenient location
  • Cons: sparse seating, blah atmosphere

This casual cafe is bliss for the almost-vegan vegetarian.

by Contributor

In Short
Organic-savvy hipsters flock to this homey cafe, with its hardwood floors and open kitchen, for hydra-pressed fruit and vegetable dishes, veggie burgers, tofu sandwiches and vegetarian BLTs. The Bliss Bowl--a large portion of brown rice, beans, kale, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, seaweed and tahini--is the specialty of the house. Grab a six-pack from the nearby Brooklyn Brewery or bodega: It's B.Y.O.B.
