The techniques they use are outdated, the prices are typical overpriced and the styllsts in there need to get over themselves. It's like a fashion show where the girls are in 5 inch stelittos to cut hair and bsing to the stylist next to them instead of doing your hair. I was charged well over 200 dollars for orange highlights instead of the blond that I requested bc the colorist didn't want to do what I asked and the best part is they make you dry your hair yourself lol. The oh so friendly girl tania that I went to made me wait almost an hour beofre I got taken and then said not one word to me while cutting my hair then complained how thick it was. Since this is her job an actual professional stylist would know how to work with all TYPES of hair. The cut I got was worth about 20 dollars. I then heard some other snob stylist making fun of clients. Get nedwstaff that know how to color and cut hair. Never again.
Pros: none
Cons: everything

I have yet heard of anyone getting an amazing cut or color their... My mother went to have her blonde highlights freshened up and her roots done...They had her there for sooo long almost 3 hours...they made her hair cotton candy pink and it was all falling out during her car ride home...They still had the nerve to still charge her credit card!! My poor moms gorgeous long hair had to be cut down to a short :susan powder look" basically a crew cut.. I would never recommend anyone to go there not even get my dogs nails trimmed there if i was in a pinch..
Pros: Great location
Cons: everything

I don't know if this counts, but I live on 3rd avenue and frequently walk up and down 3rd while doing shopping, walking, dinning, etc...I walk by and they're employees are standing outside smoking and I made eye contact and smiled at them and they look at me as if I'm some peasant. I'm new to NY and was looking for a place to get my hair done, I actually thought about giving them a try one day, so I go in to ask for a price list/menu so I could look over there services, and the receptionist barely acknowledged I was there, she continued speaking to another girl and just handed me the booklet. I stood there thinking maybe she'll ask me a few questions, but no. She turns and says "um, can I help you? Is that it?" with a snobby look on her face. I just left it and walked out..........after all that I still thought about giving them a try and I looked them up on this site and after reading all the terrible reviews, I know I'm not the only one. I'll never let PILO ARTS cross my mind for services. ON A POSITIVE SIDE, I've been going to Cavale Tonuzi thanks to a gift card, and wow, what a difference! I just got home from getting a facial and I realized how grateful I am to have Cavale Tonuzi here in Bay Ridge.
Pros: nice name and nice outer appearance
Cons: service

I am an esthetician and makeup artist in this business for well over 5yrs and I have never been treated nor have I treated a guest the way I was at this so called "dayspa". The front desk staff has absolutely no customer service training. The colorist was a complete horror show--I had light brown hair when I walked in--asked for carmel highlights on the crown walked out with jet black hair and orange brassy highlights. The worst part is I had my brand new extremely expensive bag with me--the "colorist" (i use this term loosely--I wonder how she even got a license "master" yeah right!!!) took it and put it up on her hair station only to see later that there was a huge black stain of hair dye on one of the handles. Obviously I flipped out,not only did I hate my hair but my bag was ruined and the joke of a managers answer was "who told you to bring a bag like that to get your hair dyed and maybe i had it there when i came in" WOW how scary is that? Thank god my boyfriend bought me a gift certificate and we fought thru our credit card and recieved a full refund for the gift certificate but not from pilo from the credit card company. Bottom line--DO NOT GO TO PILO ARTS--they need to retrain their staff ASAP otherwise a name can only carry you so far PILOARTS
Pros: absolutely none
Cons: too many to list

I've been living in Bay Ridge all my life and this is the WORST salon/ spa in the neighborhood. The hair stylists have bad attitudes with not much talent to back it up with. The 'spa' specialists are so unprofessional and rude, someone gave me a gift card and i tried to use it for a wax, the obnoxious woman refused to give me any service because i was waiting upstairs instead of downstairs. Too bad no one working there bothered to direct in the correct area. I gave back the gift card, and will never return to there. THIS PLACE IS SUCH A JOKE!!
Pros: nothing
Cons: rude, obnoxious staff!! high prices

i cant believe all the hype about this place! i asked for a cute bob kinda like victoria beckham and it looked like a MOM BOB! and if that wasn't enough my highlights were orange. i couldn't believe how rude the air heads at the desk were.so i searched for a place to fix it.i found SPIN a couple of blocks down, and they worked some magic. way cooler place and a great vibe. i love my hair now and i will NEVER go back to PILO ARTS ever again!
Pros: none
Cons: bad customer service, no talent

This is one of the many salons I visited on my path of finally finding a GOOD stylist and salon. First off I waited nearly 40 minutes with wet soaking hair before I was taken for my appointment. The stylist liked to take her regulars before her newbies since she took 2 people before me and made me wait not once coming to check on me or anything. Guess princess doesn't know that you should be nice to new people bc that is how you build you cliental. I told her how I wanted my hair cut and she says" oh nice and boring", who is she to comment on how I want my hair cut. She said not one word to me during my cut. Real friendly. She then went on and on about how my hair is very hard to cut. When she was finished she was still complaining and pawned me off to her assistant. $50 for a cut that I could have gotten at super cuts. All the stylists there was pretenious and snobby and it was like they wanted you in and out. Never again the place stinks and they should have a class where the stylists learn how to treat their clients. They also require you to give them your credit card number before you can even make an appointment and if you don't give 48 hrs notice of cancellation, guess they never heard of emergencies, they charge your credit card for services you never even had.
Pros: none
Cons: service stinks

After reading the post by pecan I knew I wasn't the only one. I also went to Don on several occassions. Actually he was just given to me..which is how they try to make money. Usually when it's your first time at a salon they give you to the newest person not the most expensive. Thing is he doesn't know how to work with dark hair. I gave him a few trys and each time my highlights were orange and non existence. You can tell him you want blonde highlights but he'll try telling you he can't make your hair that light. The same thing happened with my hair. Spent almost 100 to have him dye it back to brown and within 2 weeks all the color had washed out bc he used a semi permanent color. I went and each time it was more and more expensive. After the last time I went I paid almost 250 for about 5 highlights & lowlights you couldn't see. When you go to this salon you're paying for the name "pilo arts" and that's about it. I would never step foot in that place. I have a great colorist now..no "master stylist" lol who does great color , got my hair blonde not orange and does what you ask him and for half the price.
