Greatest Food Ever

by Original at Citysearch

Mambo Italiano has been my favorite restaurant for a long time. I have been there about 10 to 15 times. The food is always good. The taste never changes.

The waiters are great. Customer Service is incredible

I would recommend it to anyone who loves Italian food.

Horrible service- so so food- not so bad price

by ep0604 at Citysearch

I came here on a Saturday night with about 10 people for a birthday party. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait an hour for our table. Once we were seated, it took an eternity to get some water and have our order taken. We were paid very little attention throughout the meal- I wonder if that was due to a guaranteed tip thanks to the size of our party. We ordered our appetizers family style and our main courses individually. I asked for a simple substitution in my dish and my waitress told me it would not be possible. We had issues with communication between our busboy and waitress, which casued some probelms. When we ordered dessert, our coffee showed up when the last morsel had been eaten.

I did not find the prices to be too bad, less than $60 per person, and that included appetizers, dessert, and about two drinks each.

In regards to the entertainment, it was very cheesy and annoying. There were many parties out celebrating birthdays and each celebrant had happy birthday sung to him by the singer over the microphone. I could have done without the theatrics.

The food was decent, but certainly nothing spectacular. I'd rather go elsewhere- where there is better service and less of a show.

  • Pros: Food and price were ok
  • Cons: Service!!!

Horrible service

by brookeg14 at Citysearch

I've tried this place on three occassions and it is always the same. Decent food, bad service and the "'live entertainment" is annoying. The waiters don't refill your water and are not at all helpful. The last time I went I received the wrong order and the waiter just stared at me accusingly. The singer is ok, but the dining room is so small that when he begins his set, you can't hear/talk to anyone at your table. The food is a little expensive. Will probably only use this as a take-out place.

  • Pros: Decent Italian, large portions "family style"
  • Cons: Bad service, expensive, no ambience

An unpleasant experience

by nitrofate at Citysearch

Over priced. Tasteless- both the food and the atmosphere! If you are going with a large group, plan to spend your entire night there- the service is slow. Remember to continually ask for more water and silverware, unless you prefer to eat your meal without them.

If you still feel the desire to eat here, bring good company and order dessert- it will make the experience just short of terrible.

  • Pros: It was walking distance from my apartment
  • Cons: The live "entertainment" was disruptive

Horrific experience!

by sweetiepie57 at Citysearch

I went into this place thinking it was just a regular pizza joint. But unbeknownst to me it was a night at the Moulin Rouge gone bad. The food was barely decent and our server was nowhere to be found. I nearly died of dehydration by the time he finally came back around - to drop off the check! But the worst part of all was suffering through the worst renditions of My Girl and My Heart Belongs to Daddy I have ever heard in my life. I wanted to rip my hair out by the end of the meal. If you like terrible singing and mediocre food, this is the place for you.

  • Pros: Seated Immediately
  • Cons: The "entertainment", Uncomfortable Seating, Prices a big high

disco ladies weekend

by bellavino at Citysearch

I highly recommed this restaurant for groups as we were a group of 8 singing shopping

ladies the food was very good and the price was reasonable. We were greeted we

smiling faces and seated within 10 min. Our bartender was Jerry who was very welcoming and he made the best chocolate martini'. We really enjoyed the entertainment and the loster stoli is highly recommended this is definitely a place

to check out and we traveled by cab from New York (Financial District) and we had

no transportation problems.

  • Pros: inexpensive, entertaining, great food
  • Cons: table of 2

We had reservations for a Saturday at 8pm. When we arrived our name was crossed off the list and we were told that we would have a 30 minute wait for a table. We watched as several groups of people were seated. At 8:30pm we were told that we would have at least another hour wait for a table, and were asked who took our reservation because they don't make reservations for two people. Then we were told that they couldn't seat us unless we sat in the bar area. After a prolonged argument we were finally seated. Outside the restaurant was a sandwich board sign advertising the dine out in Brooklyn dinner special. We were told the special dinner prices were extended but not on Friday or Saturday nights. I've always had my reservations honored and advertised specials were also honored. Excellent food cannot compensate for horrible treatment.

Mambo Italiano

by dmasi11209 at Citysearch

I've always loved the ambiance in the restaurant. This is a great restaurant for a large group since everything is family style. I've eaten here several times since it first opened and everytime i had a nice time. However, one of the drawbacks is that prices are very high. It is nice for a special occasion. It's nice to go for lunch because they have the optional feature of indivual plates which is nice. Another nice feature is that they have a live singer there and they fit right in with the ambiance of a small italian village. The hanging laundry line makes gives it an authetic italian homey feeling.

  • Pros: great ambiance, terrific food
  • Cons: kinda crowded, difficult parking, expensive

Loved It!

by maureene at Citysearch

I went here for a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner and it was so much fun. We had a singer while we were eating and the food was great. This is a great place for a big group and a party type event.
