felt like coming out of a snake pit
by Crl profoundly eats
Lets face some reality the only reason this place is still open is because when it comes to indian food theres nobody else around the others closed up due to high rents or not enough foot traffic. This res stinks they didnt serve me right. I had misunderstandings with waiters once before, when i went to the ladies room and came back my food was was gone and table cleared. I was only haif done whats wrong with these people found my check on the table and asked the server why are you in a hurry to get me to leave the place? I believe in giving a res 3 chances before i stop going this is the third and last time these people have done enough and on top of it the res is dirty saw a couple of rats crawl out of the kitchen.
- Pros: convenient location
- Cons: the dirtiest and meanest staff.
very filthy place

Its unfortunate to see a place like this where the wait staff sits you down but yet the table is still dirty and their is garbage underneath the table. It also smells missed the other two indian res that were on atlantic ave but the rents must have gotton high because they are not there anymore and we are stuck with this rat hole of a place this is not a way to run a business get professional help mr owner.
- Pros: only indian res left in the heights
- Cons: they dont keep the place clean
real hell hole

I could not eat in this place again. some of the staff were rude and body odor problems. I believe some of the reviewers when they said the place was dirty. I saw roaches crawling under my chair. I saw the waiter blowing his nose in front of me while i was eating. I was served coffee and the top of my cup had some dirt on it. I hope the health dept comes for these peope because they are really out there it surprised me that they stayed open this long on Montague street!
- Pros: on a popular st montague
- Cons: very filthy and has health hazzards
health hazzard

what can i say when me and my wife were seated we realized the table was dirty. there was a tissue that someone used to blow his nose with. there was an insect under the table and the waiter who asked to take our order smelled himself. the staff mops while people are eating thats a no no we got up and went to traviata instead.
- Pros: good location
- Cons: very dirty and rude staff
this place is nasty!
by mrcagan
had a bad feeling when I entered and found the waiter sneezing over a table, but then the couple next to me left when they saw a large crawling insect, and i looked around and the place is nasty. when i told management i was going because the place was unsanitary, his response was "all restaurants in new york are dirty". this place really does deserve to go out of business. wish i checked reviews before going.
- Pros: great location
- Cons: this place needs gordon ramsey bad
If you saw what happens behind closed doors, you wouldn't eat here

I live in the building that Amin is located. I at here once when I first moved in, and honestly wasn't impressed at all. However, I soon saw buckets of food left on the floor in the back hallway (including raw chicken), cooks smoking cigarettes in the kitchen (which rises up through the floors into my apartment), and many roaaches, I don't give this place a second thought. It's a shame because I really love Indian food. It's kind of embarrasing when I order delivery from another Indian resaurant in Brooklyn and they come to the door right by the entrance to Amin. I won't say the name of this other restaurant, because that would just seem like an alterior motive to this review. My landlord wants them out of the building but is kind of stuck with them. I called the NYC health dpt. several times, and when they finally got around to coming out, I was told they were cited with several violations and fined. Seriously....I would not give this place your business, even if you think the food is passable.
Worst Delivery ever
by M1122
This place has the worst delivery i have ever experience. I ordered several times and the only issue prior to my most recent is that it normally take over an hour to get the food and they dont tell you this when you place your order. The last and final time I ordered from them they sent a completely different order from that I placed and after i paid the delivery guy and realized this I called them immediately. Their response was they ran out of the dishes I ordered and "tried to call me back" (not true!) and then sent us their "special dishes". $30 worth of special dishes might I add. I demanded they send the delivery guy back since he had just left and could have literally been on my block still and the guy continued to argue with me that hed take care of me next time i ordered. I assured him there would not be a next time. This is truely a first for me in take out and I suggest never ordering delivery from them. As for their food, when I ordered what I wanted on other occasions, the food was decent for the price. However, with delivery they are disorganized, rude and not helpful at all.
If the choice is "take it or leave it", chose "leave it".

This review relates to the 92 7th Avenue location:
The rudest and most condescending waiter I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. He was impatient from the start, although there were only two only tables occupied, and each of them was in mid-meal. When my wife asked him about one or two of the selections available on the "dinner for two" portion of the menu - which indicates that seafood dishes are excluded - he gave an answer which seemed either unnecessarily abrupt or simply the result of misunderstanding the question. I initially believed it was a simple misunderstanding, but when he came to take our order - he first took my daughter's order - it became clear that there had been no "misunderstanding": he was just plain rude and abrupt. The menu specifically stated that any two choices of entree were permitted, with the exception of seafood dishes. However, in fact, only three specific chicken dishes - out of the entire menu - were actually permitted, with NO other dishes permitted. He said (and this is a direct quote): "We changed the menu. It is our decision. It is our choice." We then made our "decision" and our "choice": we left.
Since your other reviewers generally indicate that the food is mediocre in any event, I suspect this choice was no great loss to us.
- Pros: Neat and clean appearance
- Cons: Nasty waiter
Decent delivery
by umpazumparoo
Well, despite the mostly negative reviews of this place, I went ahead and got delivery from them. I ordered chicken vindaloo, the delivery took about an hour, and it cost me $13 with tip.
The food was very hot, so I could tell that it didn't sit around after being cooked. Chicken vindaloo should be really spicy, with lots of chicken and potatoes in a thick sauce. The spiceness definitely met my standards, although there were almost no potatoes. There was, however, a lot of chicken. The sauce was thick and less greasy than most places, which is good, but more sugary, which is bad. The overall flavor was good.
This place is local for me, and I will continue to order from them...at least until I find somewhere better.
- Pros: food is hot when delivered, not too expensive, not too soupy
- Cons: sauce is sugary, overall quality of the food is a little below average
Tasty

I just wrote a scathing review of Amin's neighbor, Kapadokyu, and it occurred to me that when something is great I never even think about reviewing it. So: This is a terrific little place with great atmosphere and the sweetest waiters. Highly recommended.
