One of my favorites
by veggie2001
This is one of my favorite food shops in the city, well worth the trek into brooklyn. I love the bulk section, and the spices and things are reasonably priced. It's also a good source for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern packaged foods. I have never eaten from the prepared food counter in the back, but it's there if you want something to eat right away.
- Pros: bulk nuts, candy, spices, grains
- Cons: there isn't one in every borough
Great store!!

I come here for my dried fruit, nuts, coffee, couscous, hummus, pita bread and other Middle Eastern food. This store has been around for 50 years. The service is fast the food is fresh and must importatnt the prices are reasonable that is what keeps me coming back every week.
The parking is bad. You have keeping searching until find a space which at times is difficult. But it is worth it to me.
- Pros: Great Prices, fast service, great selection of food
- Cons: parking
Always Worth the Trip
by nycjackofhearts
Sahadi is wonderful. There isn't a better place to get Middle Eastern ingredients and specialties. I've been coming here since I was a kid. I used to come with my parents from the Bronx out to Brooklyn, but now we all go from northern Manhattan. Sahadi is well worth the trip if you're looking for any kind of Middle Eastern food.
Neighborhood staple

Any foodies in the neighborhood knows this place is the best! Sometimes it gets very crowded (which would be almost all the time) and lines do get long...but it's all worth it! I love their cheese selection too (and olives are to die for!) and the hummus and spinach pie from the back! Delicious! You really can't go wrong with anything from here. And price is awesome too!
Thank you Sahadi!

With a wonderful selection, helpful staff, and good prices, Sahadi is my new nuts, spices, sauces, and other stuff store. I'd been searching for whole fenugreek for a while, and here it was. Though they couldn't help me with kaffir lime leaves, they had virtually all I needed: spices, grains, coffees, dried fruits, nuts, mediterranean deli, oriental sauces, etc. Absolutely recommended! (and some of the guys who get my spices and such are pretty good lookin')
- Pros: friendly&knowlegable, good selection, good prices
This Middle Eastern emporium is famous for its coffee, exotic spices and dried fruits and nuts.

The Scene
Although the original Sahadi opened its doors in Manhattan more than a hundred years ago, the wholesale distributor-cum-retail store has been selling crates, barrels and burlap bags full of seeds and nuts on Brooklyn's Atlantic Avenue for more than 50 years now.
The Goods
For those not in the market for raw Middle Eastern ingredients, there's plenty to be found within this huge space; bread (nan to whole wheat), more than a hundred varieties of cheese, including some from far-flung locales like Lebanon, and simple stuff such as gourmet jams. The prepared food cases include lemon-infused stuffed grape-leaves, tabuleh and several other Middle Eastern delights. Given the freshness and quality of the stock, the prices are moderate, and that's part of what keeps neighborhood locals coming back on a weekly basis.

Smells so Great You'll want to move in

There is no place like this to find every variety of dried fruits, nuts, grains and spices. If you haven't cooked with Sahidi's real paprika you're in for pleasant surprise.
