Arty's is amazing! I have Louboutins, Choos, all that I love and would not dream of wearing without Arty putting protective soles on them. My CL's have this incredible red that he specializes in. Arty is fabulous and I am so glad to have found him!

There is nobody like Arty. I've been a regular customer since being referred by a salesperson at Jeffrey a few years ago. I never wear a new pair before Arty gets his hands on them and I bring them in for every fix and touch up. I have since heard sales people at Saks and Bergdorf recommend him and I'm delighted, because he is fabulous. Arty does the basics better than anyone, but he can also do magic. here are two examples: - I bought a pair of Burberry pumps that had the novacheck plaid print on the undersole. I knew I should put protective rubber half soles on them - but didn't want to lose that design detail. Arty carved the sole in such a way that he was able to put the protective half sole but still leave the plaid print visible around the edges - so that you could see the plaid when i crossed my legs. Genius! - Recently, i brought him a pair of Dolce & Gabbana flats after only the first wearing because the back edge of the sole had gotten very chewed up (as a result of the angle of the very small heel). Arty not only fixed the sole perfectly but he removed and rebuilt the heel so that the sole no longer gets damaged. I've worn them twice since and not a scratch. Don't be fooled because the shop looks like any shoe repair shop - he's brilliant and his staff is terrific. He's also a very sweet guy and goes out of his way to provide exceptional service. I've NEVER seen him be rude to a customer (and I'm there a lot). I have, however, seen more than one customer be rude to him (you know, those unpleasant people who think the amount they spend on things like shoes makes them more important) and he's much nicer than I would be about it. My sister in Westchester sends him her shoes - I have friends in LA and Seattle who send theirs. I moved from Manhattan to Hoboken last year, but I wouldn't even think of taking my shoes elsewhere. If I moved to Europe, I'd still send my shoes to Arty.
Pros: Extraordinary work, caring customer service
Cons: None

Arty's Shoe Service is excellent. I take all my shoes there for repair and shines. Arty himself is a great guy. Yes, he is somewhat of a character but that is what makes him great. He can be tough but thats what I want when I bring a $1000 pair of shoe to a shop. Make no mistakes about it, the guy knows what he is doing. Now all I need to find in NY is a good dentist

I went in for a shine recently. Everyone was out to lunch except Arty and he was terrific. He noticed a small scratch on my new Prada Shoes and fixed it. He was pleasant and funny. I was surprised to read some of the reviews because my experience was so positive. I will definitely return for more shines and repairs. Highly recommended.
Pros: Service, atmosphere, expertise
Cons: Store appearance

I've taken shoes or boots to Arty's about six times. The work is fine, but I've witnessed yelling at employees and been berated myself. Who needs that! The shoe shine fellow is charming; Arty is not. I'd rather deal with nice people--this is a big city, and there are plenty of pleasant people out there. Some of them are even repairing shoes! I probably won't go back.

Arty's is simply the best in the business. Besides be the nicest guy around, he can repair virtually every type of shoe and restore them to their original condition - maybe even better than original condition! I recommend him to everyone!
Pros: Brilliant Shoe Repair
Cons: There's just one Arty!

I take all of my shoes to Arty's - high cost items from Max Mara, Margiela, Missoni, and more - and he always makes them look new again. I also love the chit-chat and jokes that come with the excellent service - Arty is a sweetheart and a funnyman. He's also very kind - I told him about my upcoming wedding in May and he gave me a couple of insoles to place in my shoes (for free!) so I could dance the night away without pain. I'll be sure to take my Christian Louboutin wedding shoes to him for his signature rubber red-soles!
Pros: prompt, professional service
Cons: Arty is definitely the best craftsman in the shop - make sure HE does your shoes if you are very particular and want them absolutely perfect

Arty's is the best shoe repair ever! I can always count on him to restore my shoes beautifully when I think that I have damaged them beyond repair. He also has a great eye, and has creative solutions to keep my shoes going after I think there is not a chance left that they can be fixed. I highly recommend Arty's for any shoe repair needs - they are the only place I trust with my shoes!

Arty's is the only place I take my shoes. Don’t be misled by the shop appearance, it is a working shop. No matter how white or delicate your shoes, they will come back to you as good as new (or better). Arty and his men can work miracles. I have taken them shoes that I am actually embarrassed to show them because I never should have let them get to that level of disrepair. Each time, Arty’s has saved them. They have given new life to some of my favorite shoes and boots. I highly recommend Arty’s for anyone who sees their shoes as an investment. I pay a lot for my shoes and appreciate the fact that they are in good hands with Arty. Even after moving to Brooklyn and trying a few recommended places closer to home or work, I still make the trip back to Arty’s. Arty will talk to you about what will or won’t work. He will give you options of things to do. Arty is honest. He is an owner who actually works with his staff and takes pride in his product. You can’t say that about many places. If you doubt my recommendation, look around his shop when you are there…see what kind of shoes he is working on. That many women who entrust him with their Christian Louboutins cannot be wrong. Arty’s is truly a place for the well loved shoe.
Pros: Amazing repair quality

I brought in a pair of Luciano Padovan peep-toe pumps because the soft-pink soles were scuffed up pretty badly. There were glowing reviews in New York Magazine, and I read in Elle that Christian Louboutin send customers to Arty's because he's able to match that particular shade of red on the soles. So I figured the soft-pink soles on the Padovans would be a piece of cake. I just wanted the deep scuff marks sanded out, and the soft-pink restored. The guy's demeanor seemed alright - he wasn't rude as other reviewers have reported - but when I asked him to restore the soft-pink soles, he said there was no way for him to match the pink. So I asked him to fix the deep scuff marks at least, which he tried to do by rubbing it with a really rough piece of sandpaper for about 10 minutes. But that just made the problem even worse! Then he took a can of spray paint and sprayed the scuffs HE made!! But the spray paint was hot pink, instead of soft pink, so obviously, it didn't match. So he got some thinner, in an attempt to rub off the spray paint. Instead, the thinner turned the hot pink into GRAY splotches, and wrecked the soles even further!! Then he handed them back to me, charged me $20 for the service, and told me to buy a bottle of nail polish at Duane Reade to fix them. Why am I paying him $20 so I can put nail polish on my shoes??? Finally, on the recommendation of a friend, I took the same pair of Luciano Padovan's to Shoe Service Plus on 55th Street, and the guys there not only fixed the deep scuffs, but they were able to get rid of the gray splotches Arty put on the shoes, and basically restore the shoes to BRAND NEW condition. I couldn't believe my eyes!! Shoe Service Plus returned my shoes after a week, and they looked as if I JUST BOUGHT THEM. They looked brand spanking new. My conclusion: Arty's is over-rated. His service is horrible. According to other reviewers, he's got a nasty temper. How and why he gets top ratings by all these magazines, I have no clue.
Cons: Poor Repair Job, Shoe was never fixed, Arty told me to buy nail polish and fix it myself, Over-rated
