Enchantments is definitely changing its vibe. I didnt have such a pleasant experience when Joe was around. I felt it was much heavier and" clichish" back then. It was his presence and left centered Eqyptian magick then which made me feel uncomfortable. I feel it is a different place now. You can ask any question about wicca, santeria, other disciplines, and get a good answer. The presence of the Goddess is at Enchantments so it makes people acquainted with a strong, female otherwordly vibe feel right at home. If you are working with that energy and love candles, incense, oils, books, secret knowledge, jewelry you'll love this store. There is good service there. I usually see Kat or Ricky for candles. They are both quite knowledgable. The cats are so cute in the store too.

Pros: Goddess energy( both light and dark), great value, the only magickal shoppe inNYC, cats , real appeal for "real wiches", great variety

Cons: More selection with the books and jewelry

I've heard lots about this place going under since Joe and friends left the store, but really... aren't we glad? I dont know about the other customers, but man was Joe a sketchy dude! I am in my late 30s and have been involved in different groups and have studied the occult most of my life and I enjoy the store! The new young staff can be a little too much somethimes but these young ladies and gentleman are real. I have had readings from them and I was surprised how someone half my age was able to help me! My friends are frequent clients to these young witches! They still blend up a storm for those in need and will deliver the goods all you have to do is meet them with respect and strength, for these "kids" (thats what some in the pagan community call them) will impress you with their book smart knowledge and experiences. These kids help the pagan community everyday. So lets help them. Lets be grateful that we still have this place here in nyc.

Pros: Every oil, incense, herb and candle lives here

Cons: it is no longer a book store

It's not the same since they fires Joe, and with him Jezabelle.... the magic is gone in their absence along with their love of the community as well as openness to strangers. It's no longer enchanting. I don't go there anymore when I visit NY.

I have seen this store since I moved to new york 12 years ago and decided to try the tarot card reading this year. It was mediocre, short, and lack of insight for the price. I really wanted to like this place but something was missing and it was quite disappointing.

This store has been quite prominent in the NYC Pagan community. However, the store has changed quite a bit over the past few years. First of all, some of the workers there truly, honestly don't like people. Truly, honestly, a lot of retail workers don't like people. However, if you're a Pagan and are looking for a store to help you find assistance in what you wish to buy or whatever ails you, you might be better off staying at home. To make matters worse, they used to have classes at Enchantments but the store got bought out by an antisocial bitca that doesn't like people(even less than the workers) and the moment you arrive the store and she happens to grace you with her presence, you will not feel the love of the goddess, but the cold chill of a cracked face undone.

Pros: variety

Cons: nastiness

Enchantments has been one of the most magickal place in NYC for over 20 years, offering classes, tarot readings, supplies and advice for anyone from the curious to the High Priestess. Check your hang-ups at the door and enter with good will - this shop will fascinate you, at the very least. Herbs, custom-made oils and spell candles compliment an oustanding selection of spellcrafting goods, books, jewelry, and more. They also perform handfastings and seasonal celebrations. One-stop shopping for pagans of all kinds (even better in conjunction with Aphrodisia on Bleeker for more herbs/oils, if you're doing some serious work). If you're searching for the obscure or venturing into the light, stop at the crescent moon or take a peek into their "antique shop" next door for oddities and unusual gifts. Joe in the back is a marvel & the star of the staff.

Pros: Selection, Services, Classes
