very efficient and proficient. I took my 17-year old cat in for some recurring UTI problems and other symptoms, and we both had a very positive experience. The office is spacious and clean, the staff was all very helpful and kind, and everyone from the receptionists to the tech to the nurse to the doctor seemed genuinely caring, both towards my cat, and me. The techs were very efficient and proficient, and the vet himself definitely seemed knowledgeable.

I was immediately impressed that Dr. Mann could give me an answer about some cysts in Charlotte's ear, letting me know it was relatively common in older cats and they were certainly benign, whereas another vet had said it was a 50% chance they were malignant and only a biopsy, which would require anesthesia, would be able to determine their nature.

I love Brooklyn Cares. I love Brooklyn Cares. Everyone there is helpful and thorough - they always take the time to answer questions, and seem to genuinely care about my beloved feline friend. I've had nothing but positive interactions with Dr. Mann and his support staff.

Dr. Donovan was wonderful. My 15 year old cat was deteriorating (heart murmur, kidney failure, and cancer) and we spent significant time there over the past few months. They were patient and gentle with Sebastian and with me. I felt good there and Sebastian was also comfortable there, not a common experience for a cat at the vets. Dr. Donovan was wonderful and left me several kind and detailed messages about test results and options. Dr. Mann was exceptional and spoke to my cat and to me in a way that showed me he genuinely cared. I did not choose any extreme measures to extend Sebastian's life, I just wanted him to be comfortable until it was time to say goodbye. When that time came, Dr. Mann came to my apartment and helped me let Sebastian go. Each of the vets and the rest of the staff have been nothing but pleasant and kind to me.

They are compassionate and good listeners. I was a little hesitant to try Brooklyn Cares out after reading the reviews here, but reading their philosophy on the website and the convenient location made me give them a chance. I'm am so glad that I did because my experience was all that I could hope for. They are compassionate and good listeners which make them good diagnosticians.

The name says it all.. The name says it all. I have taken my dog there for as long as we have had him and each time we go they provide excellent care. The first time was for dental surgery, the second because he had swallowed a chicken bone. Both times the Dr. Mann and staff were wonderfully caring and knowledgeable, they took care of our dog as if it were their own. The price was always discussed and made clear before any work was done, and they helped us navigate the rocky insurance waters as well.

Great vibes. You instantly either get a good vibe or a bad one from an animal clinic, and I got a great one here. If you're wondering about whether to commit to this quality of treatment, go for it. They offered me material about a new program of pet insurance so it's guaranteed that your pet stays healthy - great for conscientious cat ladies like me!, and the doctors have a grounding in holistic medicine so they take a very innovative and balanced approach to treatment (while still being really well-trained in traditional medicine). I'm clearly a fangirl - it's a great addition to the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill area and I'm very glad I chose them.

They gave me peace of mind. I felt reassured that my cat was going to be ok, and that's saying a lot seeing as I am a very neurotic pet owner! At the end of the day that peace of mind was invaluable.

Excellent quality of care. The quality of care is excellent, the staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere is soothing (so important when the only thing on my mind was my kitty's health - I felt much calmer than I expected), and the pricing seems appropriate for the thorough but never unnecessary treatment provided.

"We keep your dog as collateral" - direct staff quote. I am very concerned by how much people hype up and recommend this clinic. I came to Brooklyn Cares to neuter my puppy (through the muffins deal) after hearing three women at the dog park rave about dr. mann. i regret being so naive and not having done my own research, but i made an appointment with them. this was the outcome:

1) When i went to go pick up my puppy after the procedure---and it's clear how much i, like any new parent, adore my dog--- I was asked by the receptionist for payment. I gave her my credit card, and she said to me, "I'll wait for this to go through before i go get your dog." I half-joked in response, "So you're saying that if my payment didn't go through, you wouldn't give me my dog back?" She responded with, "Yes, we keep your dog as collateral."

I am still appalled that anyone in a health specialty would dare to say that.

2) For 4 days after the procedure, my puppy had blood in his urine. My regular vet said this is NOT normal, and that they must have accidentally cut the urethra.

3) Just recently, a friend's puppy died on the operating table during spaying from an undetected allergy to anesthesia. I concede this is possibly a fluke though also VERY rare. But on the professionalism front, my friend has yet to hear from them with any follow-up or apology for the loss.

Yes, it's a clinic. Yes, you get what you pay for. But with these 5-star reviews, you'd think you're getting something different from your average over-run clinic. You're NOT. They are unprofessional, not particularly skilled (clearly, from the above examples), and most disappointingly and hurtful of all, they don't seem to genuinely care about animals or people.

PS- They will also try hard to push bloodwork for your dog before s/he goes into surgery. IF your dog is healthy and has seen a vet recently, DO NOT agree to this. yet another way in which the staff at this clinic exhorts you.

Lastly, for the sake of comparison, after i saw blood in Eri's urine, i took him immediately to my regular vet. When I called her, she told me to bring him in so she could check him out at no cost. She waived the fee because she actually cares about the well-being of my dog.

I have NO expectations whatsoever of that kind of generosity, of course. I work for a non-profit and I know that an organization cannot run without money from clients. However, even with the lowest of expectations, the sole thing I did expect was empathy and care. Instead, all I received were messages of the value of money reigning supreme over the well-being and good care of my beloved dog.

Please take care before you come here for any neutering and ESPECIALLY spaying procedures for your dog. In fact, i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you go some place else.
