True To It's Name - It's Speaks Loudly

by LocalGuyPS at Citysearch

They have a wonderful Pianist named Nick. Piano on the weekends and jazz bands on Wednesdays - this place blowes me away. The food is fantastic and the decor makes me feel like I jumped a plane and landed in Tuscany. The lamb shank is the best I've ever had. The hand made pastas are al dente and plentiful. My date , who is from Tusacany, said that it was as good as any restaurant she's gone to back home. The Chocolate Bonet is not to be missed at dessert time!! It's a Chocolate orgee.

A Sequel That's Better Than The Original!

by scubadvr at Citysearch

I like Sotto Voce & missed it since I moved, But Alta Voce makes me wish I never left Park Slope!

The Food is amazing -Rabbit, Duck & Trout on the menu, at reasonable prices none the less.

The Space is inviting -high ceilings, old farm house copper set in a contemporary design.

The Vibe is mellow and cool -Jazz playing in the background or Nick tickling the ivories on the baby grand. (Thanks for playing that request)

The Staff - Professional, courteous & attentive. I've only had service like this in Europe or restaurants 3x the price.

I dug right into the bresiola wrapped goat cheese drizzled w/ truffle oil. I liked the way the gamey goat cheese plays with the earthy aromatic truffle oil. The chopped arugola added a nice bitter bite. My guest had the seafood casoule for an app. It was briny, rich and the beans were baked to perfection.

We split the rabbit pasta on Alex the waiter's suggestion - The home made pasta was obviously made in house and cut by hand. It was cooked up al dente, not mushy like fresh pasta tends to be. The rabbit was tender & sweet. The sauce thick enough to cling to the semolina noodles and carry the bits of carrots, celery and shredded rabbit to the tongue - an explosion of textures and flavors.

The Duck Breast was as marvelous as the name implied - tender, pink with just the right amount of fat rendered from the crispy skin. The sauce was from heaven - deep, complex and flavorful.

The Rolled Stuffed Salmon was inventive and interesting - the spinach and beans paired nicely with the caper / butter sauce that topped the salmon. The crab meat stuffing was moist and flaky.

The wine list is a bit limited, but well chosen and priced. It was nice to see a Sangiovese as their house wine.

Dessert was an excellent finish to a wonderful meal. we shared the poached pear with mascapone & red wine reduction. A clean, bright dessert that didn't leave me feeling over stuffed.

The complimentary biscotti & port with the check was a nice touch.

  • Pros: Ambiance, Food, Service, Price
  • Cons: short wine list

Amazing Italian in Park Slope!!

by citilivin at Citysearch

Alta Voce is soooo good! This place is doing it right. From the prices, portions, flavors and the space, there are few place that are give you so much for so little. I've been there several times and it has been consistently good. The grilled trout topped with a tomato relish was a refreshing and light entree. Flaky, fresh and delicious. How could I forget my favorite appetizer - Creamy Goat cheese wrapped in bresaola, consummated by a drizzle of white truffle oil. Fantastic! Penne Pomodoro - the dish by which all Italian restaurant must be judged. Theirs is a perfect score - tangy fresh tomato sauce with chunks of tomato, fresh basil and just the right touch of garlic. The soft polenta was a nice change from the firmer grilled types I've had. I sensed a touch of saffron which was nice with the flavorful corn. The baked clams were briny and crisp. I loved the lemony broth they drizzled over it. The space is a place to never want to leave. The background jazz or the live piano lend an air of sophistication that few places in the area have, and none in NY a this price point. The staff is attentive with out being over bearing and very friendly. On all Points - a Ten!

Live music and a wine bar liven up this sibling to Park Slope's popular Sotto Voce.
