SURPRISE STOP ON THE ROLLING MOVIE TOUR THIS TUES NITE!!!
by roboxtravaganza
movie synopsis:
It's all about the night for a med student, a teenage runaway, a lawyer, a drag queen, a high school basketball star, a dealer, and a teacher as they all cross paths in the Ecstasy-riddled Los Angeles underground party scene. The film is an entertaining roller coaster-like experience that captures "the giddy highs and crushing lows" (The New York Times) of this unique phenomenon. With a documentary-like style, ROLLING exposes the delicate balance of these users' relationships and responsibilities as they chase its dangerous drug-induced euphoria known as ROLLING!
- Pros: independent film brings it's nation-wide tour to brooklyn
- Cons: only one show :(
The long-running Williamsburg cultural venue brings its eclectic programming to a century-old horse stable in DUMBO.
by Joshua M Bernstein
In Short
When Galapagos' owners were presented with a crippling rent increase at their old Williamsburg location, DUMBO landlord David Walentas offered them a sweetheart deal on a century-old horse stable. The soaring, 10,000-square-foot structure has been renovated into a sultry, stunning multilevel event space (and an upstairs smoking patio) that's outfitted with comfy half-moon booths bathed in a red glow. Every seat is a perfect perch to watch the evening's entertainment--the stage is theatrically cantilevered over a wading pool--while downing drafts from Captain Lawrence and Sixpoint.
Hits: From puppet shows to hula hoop hoedowns, you'll enjoy some of Brooklyn's most eclectic events in a gorgeous venue fit for grown-ups and college kids alike.
Misses: If you don't snag one of the scant booths or a seat at the bar, you'll likely spend the evening milling around.
