Blonde waitress is seriously unbelievable!
by Darbot at Citysearch
we walked in and liked the atmosphere and mixture of crowds going on. it was kind of crowded but it IS a beer hall. We ....a group of 5 found some space to sit on the benches and a blonde waitress arrives to place an order. we weren't ready to order yet, she voluntarily comes back again and impatiently says "so are you guys going to order or am I just standing here?" that was already a vibe we didn't like from the start. we forget about it and proceed to drink the delicious and i would think decent priced beer. $7 palm ales in big mugs that got us feeling pretty good. we also asked the waitress how much the fries were and she replied "i dont know( shrugs) you can go ask the cook yourself." we order another round from the same waitress. she made another comment after placing the drinks on the table..."you guys don't tip HUH?" we say" yeah we will afterwards (with a shocked puzzled look)" " she replies "YEAH right....in like 2 months." and walks away. this is when we all said f*ck you you rude little c*nt. we were having a good time and she was being so shockingly rude. we did not get what her problem was. i will probably be back for the beer and food but i might have to order from the bar myself without getting attacked with uncalled insults from this blonde bitch. SHE NEEDS TO GET LAID OFF IMMEDIATELY. unacceptable. and no this is not a review from a bitter person. this never happened to me. a bad review is necessary. i know how some reviews are exaggerated this is totally not the case!
ps. we decided to give her a tip anyways....and do you know what she says in return? "UM..... I don't want that"

Good beer, awful service
by visualgirlPA at Citysearch
On a Sunday afternoon, we visited for a beer and some food. The place was not busy although there was a little kids party outdoors, but still, fairly slow and no one but the 2 of us inside. Took 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Waitress took our drink order and they came fairly quickly. Only one of us was eating, she ordered and that took quite a while but it was okay because we talked and drank our beers. When the food came, the waitress pretty much just dropped the plate and took off. Did not ask if we needed anything, not even if we wanted another beer! Our glasses were empty! The Sunday brunch included a peach bellini, which the eater decided she wanted and it took at least 15 minutes to catch the waitresses eye to have her come over to order the drink. My glass still empty, still no mention of a refill. Bellini came, dirty plate finally cleared and then we sat there for 45 minutes until we had to go to the bar to ask for the check. That's when we were told the system was down and we would have to wait for it. 10 minutes later we threw $20 on the table and left.
- Pros: Beer selection
- Cons: dismissive, lackluster service
Do Not Heed Negative Reviews!
by kenobebe1 at Citysearch
Note to negative reviewers: This is a BEER HALL! This is not a 4 star restaurant. It is where people come to drink really large beers; hence you might see some people getting drunk. This a place where, at 11pm, you might not get the best table service b/c it is crowded (due to the amount of people that like this place). The lude, poor excuses for people mentioned in the previous review are what we in the unpretentious world like to call "people having fun." And yes, you might hear some curses as well (mormons take heed). Listen up folks, the beers are fresh and plentiful, the atmosphere is festive and their snacks rule! Naysayers can go back to Roosevelt Island and sip on midori in their million dollar apartments!
- Pros: Ummm--Massive Beer Hall with tasty, fresh beer
- Cons: They could shave 1-2 bucks off the beers
Complete waste of time

My husband is a beer lover, with a special interest in European brews so we thought we'd give it a try. I looked online at the dinner menu and there was a steak dish I was interested in trying, but the rest of the menu was a little too frou-frou for me. It was a Sunday evening, not quite dinner hour, but the place was packed. We spotted an empty table that hadn't been cleaned from the previous slobs....I mean...patrons but we grabbed it because it was the only table available. Well, in addition to waiting about 15 minutes for a "waitress " to clean the table, she spilled a whole cup of leftover beer on the table that came dangerously close to spilling on me. We asked dinner menus and were told in a dismissive fashion, "You have to give me a few minutes to find a kitchen menu." So we waited and she finally returned with one menu, and proceeded to drop it in the still-drying beer spill on the table. I fiddled with the menu with my fingertips, and I noticed that the online menu was different from the actual menu, and we decided that it was better to leave before we owed any money. Now, aside from commenting on the food, which I cannot do, the place was full of 20-somethings, Williamsburg's finest "trustafarians" yelling, screaming, and generally being obnoxious. I understand it's a beer hall and I expected loud conversation. The people in this place were foul-mouthed to the point where I was offended, and I'm not easily offended, having grown up in Williamsburg. If you want a nice time in a German restaurant with nice beer, there are more to choose from. This place is a crap-hole, filled with Williamsburg's latest crop of garbage, a bunch of really ignorant people, and I use the term "people" loosely. If you think I'm wrong, check out the 5-star reviews -- I'm sure each one has at least one spelling or grammatical error.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything
Don't Bother Going
by K21212213 at Citysearch
This place is EXPENSIVE and full of hipsters and wanna-be hipsters. The waitress tried to tack on $20 worth of drinks we didn't order. I won't be going back. IT'S NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE OF GETTING ALL THE WAY OUT TO BKLYN!
- Pros: Good (but expensive) beer, the one dish I could afford was ok
- Cons: Too crowded, hipsters everywhere, music too loud to talk, too costly, deceptive waitress
Pils
by mateoxcz at Citysearch
Hey guys... It's not German, but Czech... "Radegast" is an old czech pagan god and Pilsner Urquell is brewed in Pilsner (czech "Plzen"), in west of Czech Republic. :)
So much effort.. so little success

Generally a great idea but too many bumps and flows. Service is slow as Mississipi summer afternoon and bartenders seem to enjoy their personal time in the corner. Stuff absolutely doesn't seem to cope with pressure, even on weekdays. Food is on the bright side but garden grill is simply ruining expensive sausages by drying them on fire to death. More of garden, noise level sometimes beats rock band and arched ceiling adds to it. After all the above, great beer selection and well drinks are seriously overpriced for place with concrete floors and sluggish service. So far, rather mess than miss but needs improvement. Sad.. once again, idea is great
- Pros: beer selection, restaurant food, old world decor
- Cons: clueless, not to say ignorant, service. messy appearance
THE BEST!!, it is perfect!

A great place to go at night in Brooklyn. Everything was excelent. Delicious food (I had some pork loin with plum and beer sauce and the best stake tartar I've ever had). They have a great selection of beers (mostly German and Belgian, but what else do you want), I had a great Tripel Karmeliet. The place is beautiful, decorated as a real German hall with big tables. The music was mainly Kusturika's and some other balkan and german folk brass bands and the waitress was dressed in one of those traditional German dresses (A very nice detail), she was very very nice and beatiful.
Perfect place.
Perfect food.
Perfect beer.
Perfect staff.
Perfect service.
Perfect music.
Perfect decoration.
Just amazing. I love this place.
- Pros: everything

I went here this past weekend and was so happ that I did. The scene was crazy! Giant beers glanging off one another. It was just so much fun. The place was packed and everyonr was friendly. Great wheat beer and great crowd. It was like a huge party and it almost felt like we were outside. I guess we will have to wait til the summer to actually drink outside. I heard the roof retracts! Anyway, the picture does no justice thois place needs to be seen!!!!
Ordering offends bartender
by DesBrooklyn at Citysearch
Beware that placing your order may offend one of the bartenders there. So much so that he may call you names that include "vegetarian c*nt."
My friend ordered the wiener schnitzel and asked for the mashed potatoes to be on the side (I was going to share). Bartender said, no problem. So then the dish comes and of course, the wiener schnitzel is covering the mashed potatoes. So my friend reminded the bartender that she had asked for the mashed potatoes to be on the side. Then he in a puff said, "Does the meat offend you? Fine, I'll get you a side of them." I then came in and said, "No, don't worry about it. It's fine. It's not a big deal." Then he still went and got a side.
So we finish eating, and then my friend asks for a Jack and Diet Coke. Then we see the bartender pouring her Maker's Mark. And so when he drops it off, she tells him she asked for Jack Daniel's. He angrily says, "We don't have Jack. This is the same." And then she said no that she didn't like Maker's Mark and that it tastes different. Once again, the bartender berated her. She then said she didn't want it and asked for a glass of Riesling. Then he really started berating her saying, "Are you sure?! Are you completely sure?! Do you want to taste it first?! Because I want you to be totally sure." Then she responded by saying, "I've been sure about everything. I've never changed my order. You have brought me what I didn't order." Then he pretty much started yelling at her, and then that's when I stepped in and said, "No! Nevermind. Don't get us anything any more!"
After that, I asked to get for the tab, and also let him know he was very rude. And at this he screamed, "No! You are rude! I've never in 20 years had customers like you two! He then continued to yell at us, and finally I stopped it by saying, "Wow. You're a d*ck." Then he screamed, "No! You're a c*nt!" So then I said, "ha. That's fine." Then he screamed, "A VEGETARIAN C*NT!" And with that, I paid my bill and walked out.
- Pros: Good beer selection, heated outdoors
- Cons: Worst service ever, high costs.
