Great Skateshop in downtown Brooklyn

by cristos 1

When you stop by the shop, you'll usually be greeted by one of the courteous staff members and be offered assistance, and if you have any questions, you can always feel at ease knowing you're going to get an experienced and honest opinion. They brew Mud coffee in the mornings and sell skate and snowboards, skate and snow apparel in the afternoon, and do skateboarding lessons on the weekends. During the winter they run day trips to various mountains to go snowboarding or skiing. Constantly involved in the community and keeping it real in Brooklyn. A great skateshop with a really awesome vibe.

  • Pros: Awesome selection and variety
  • Cons: no skatepark right around the corner

Really nice selection of boards, trucks and wheels, not the cheapest but not too expensive, employees can skate really well and they offer lessons.

by SmallbutMighty

Who cares about the music the store is playing? If you're experienced or not, this shop is the place to go to. They have many decks from regular boards to cruisers, long boards, and even flow boards. The employees are nice and can help you pick out a board right for you. If you're inexperienced, they help you pick a deck, trucks, wheels and even bearings to start you off on the right foot. They also have a section of new complete decks for people wanting to spend less money. I got a Zero deck, Indy trucks, Bullet wheels and Bone Swiss bearings for a grand total of $175. This is an o.k. price compared to other shops like Autumn Skateboard Shop where this combination would have been around $200. Homage to Michelle Sauer and Jose Portes!

  • Pros: Mild Prices, Cool employees, Big selection,
  • Cons: Right on Smith Street=Little Parking

BEST SKATE SHOP

by gretmathews

Everyone who works in this store is super cool. They are amazing with kids who are trying to learn how to skate and also provide lessons. I highly recommend the lessons for any beginner and person who wants to learn.

Not sure

by ripturd

This place kind of stinks. The board selection is pretty slim and the music was bad fake white boy reggae. The "employees" aren't exactly helpful and I don't think any of them can actually ollie.

  • Pros: air conditioningq
  • Cons: skateboarders, bad music

Best little skate shop in Brooklyn

by sk8ter1

This skate shop is one of the best things for skaters in Brooklyn. The skate shop is easy to get to and if you're driving, parking is easy. The guys and gals in the shop treat you like family. They're very helpful and also they're skaters themselves. I love this shop because it's unique. It has old school boards, new school boards, long boards and cruisers. Any type or size of boards you want they have it. They also have wide trucks for us old school guys which is hard to find. Most skate shop only cater to the kids. This shop has a little something for everybody. I'm 45 years old and my son is 14 years and we get all our skateboard needs at this shop. We don't have to drive all over town to cater to both our needs. Also if you're like me. I like big wheels. These guys carry wheels over 60mm. You can't get that in most shops. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work!!! (Old school Chris)

  • Pros: Friendly staff with alot of knowledge on the products they are selling.
  • Cons: N/A

Boards, trucks, wheels, helmets, and more in a leave-your-attitude-at-the-door skate store on bustling Smith Street.

by Contributor

In Short
This welcoming skateboard shop defies the clique-ish skater stereotype as everyone from kids to strolling locals stops by. Michelle Sauer, former Zoo York and Burton creative director, and Jose Portes, a longtime skater, opened the neighborhood's sole skating destination. The store carries a full range of decks, hardware and accessories. Clothes and sneakers from major brands like Etnies line the shelves. Why "Homage"? Besides celebrating their love for skating, the owners were in a near-death motorcycle accident and the name is inspired by their gratefulness for life.
