Staff Nice, Owner Not A Nice Guy
by Celtic09
In Fort Greene, there are few pubs where you can view multiple events - you can here. Having lived in the neighborhood for ten years, this was a welcome addition. The staff are generally friendly, the owner is another story. His co-owner/wife in nice, but he's got some people issues. My friends and I have stopped going there as we've unfortunately witnessed him berate his staff for little reason on a few occasions. In fact, a few of their staff who we felt comfortable with are now gone - and none of the "locals" we've asked can get a reason why? All staff seem to cower in his presence, this is unfortunate for everybody.
I wonder if they know how much business they're losing because of his obvious, classless behavior? Our money will be spent elsewhere!
- Pros: TV's for Sports, Spacious, Outside Seating
- Cons: Owner nasty towards his own staff
Just One Block Away...

and Mullanes will dump you! This bar and grill neighborhood spot is not so neighborly. The dining in atmosphere is good enough but when it comes to delivery, make sure you don’t fall short. Their delivery limit ends at Vanderbilt, I live on Clinton. We have run into this problem before but good ol’ Mullanes pulled through and agreed to deliver one block out side of their very serious limits. I was trying to explain to the woman who answered the phone , today, to take my delivery order and when she seemed still unsure, I offered to walk one block to Vanderbilt to meet the delivery person. Silly? Yes. Sarcastic? I was not. I had spent the day at the doctors and was tired and just wanted some delivery. After I suggest this, the woman put me on the phone with dun dun dun Ian. Ian had the pretentious fake polite customer service voice, and as someone who was being completely non-argumentative and who works in hospitality, I took it personally offensive. Ian told me that they ‘”must have limits” and suggested I come pick it up. I said thank you but that I wouldn’t be coming back at all.
Mullanes is only decent and therefore maybe should be putting in a bit more effort to their clientele.
Beware of Ian!
- Pros: decent bar and grill
- Cons: delivery limits and Ian

Went in for dinner with three friends on Monday night and must say I really didn't want to leave! The burgers and nachos are the best ANYWHERE, and the staff is very attentive and polite. Great place for dinner with the family or just getting sloshed and watching a game on their HUGE high def projection screen! I guess this means Fort Greene is moving in the right direction.
- Pros: Service, Ambience, Great locale, All the big games
- Cons: A little pricey but worth it
A great social gathering.

I enjoy coming to this place. Their veggie and turkey burger are great along with their dipping sauce for their fries. I always have a good time when i go. The staff is very friendly and relaxed. My server was nice, and made me feel like a friend, though I can't remember his name. The atmosphere is perfect for meeting up with some friends, getting your weekend started or having a nice dinner. I like their music selection as well, it's as diverse at Fort Greene.
Nice place, but rude owner.

Good food, decent beer and drink selection. Most of the servers are great, but I have found the owner to be quite rude and pushy on several occasions. Not just with customers, but with his staff. Overall, though, a good neighborhood spot. Great place to watch footbal with the big screen in the back.
much needed sports bar for the neighborhood
by quasiitaliana
nice atmosphere, lots of good tvs around for sports watching. great and much needed addition to the neighborhood. decent bar menu, could have a slightly more interesting beer selection (hey, how about our local clinton hill brewery: Kelso?). also, was that nacho cheese sauce mixed in with a pinch of real cheese on the nachos? such a potentially good snack gone bad! tsk tsk! hope that won't happen again....
always a fun time.

I go into mullanes a lot. I go because of a number of different reasons. The first time i went in there the owner came up to me (obviously recognizing a new face) and introduced himself. I automatically felt right at home. the number of beers there are countless. the food is awsome. i have not tried the entire menu but everything i have had has been excellent. the cobb salad is to die for. the service is always friendly/prompt and i never leave the place not wanting to stay for one more drink. i have been there for the super bowl, the oscars, and the nba finals and will continue to go there much more.
- Pros: everything
- Cons: i cant spend the night
Plenty of seating and big TVs. Not so good cocktails. Decent food!

Mullane's is big and clean. It really has a sports bar feel to it--dark wood, large TVs, full bar--and it's pretty standard fare. The beers, of course, are good. They have a pretty well-balanced selection, with a few good microbrews, as well as lite beers. The cocktails I've had there were terrible. There was a pomegranate martini special which was so disgusting that I just asked for straight vodka after that. You can't go wrong on the beers though, and the finger food is on point. I recommend the nachos! There's also outside seating, as well as a huge inside seating area past the bar, so if you're looking for a place where you can find a quiet corner to yourself, this is it.
- Pros: Lots of room and tons of seating. Good decor and really clean.
- Cons: None really. All around, it's a good hangout spot!
dont miss out!!

well what can i say, a group of us stopped by this cozy irish ,american bar just in time for happy hour, which i think went from 4-7p.m.,anyway we had plans for later on that evening but they all fell by the wayside,we eventually left around midnight, after deciding to stay and sample the excellent cuisine,.the flavours where mouthwatering, and a fantastic choice of burgers, and to top it all very good service, any extras we needed where dealt with without a whim,..it was like bieng locked away in your own little cocoon, with the mood, the decor ,and not forgetting great cocktails ,just melting the hours away,..this is now going to be a regular occurrence cant wait!!!
- Pros: all
- Cons: none
