Will return.

by msdecember

We stumbled across this place after being very disappointed about Egg being closed next door.. Too hungry and tired to walk any further than a foot away, we decided to give it a shot even though the prices on the outside menu startled us a bit.

I'm so very glad that we did as we enjoyed the food, the music, the staff.. even the fellow diners.

Will definitely return... even if Egg is open.

great spot...

by davidb1b

ive been here about five times and always had good fresh food, was there again the other day and had a crabcake appetizer special which was amazing, and i know crabcakes having spent lots of time in MD. the garden and roof are awesome and the service is good. prices are about right for a place that looks like this... newsflash, when someone spends hundreds of thousands building a resto... the drinks arent gonna be $4... haters be gone.

  • Pros: amazing space, great food
  • Cons: dont think they do lunch yet

Way overpriced, questionable food, nice roofdeck

by lapsu

Worth going for drinks on the roofdeck, skip dinner.

I went here once for drinks on the roofdeck, and it was pretty nice. We went back for dinner in the dining room. The decor is nice, service was ok, but the kitchen is a let down. The duck part of the duck confit was good, but the lettuce was not crisp and tasted like it had been microwaved. The pork tenderloin was dry, but otherwise ok. It came on top of some soupy, overcooked vegetables and didn't work together at all. Not even close to a $30 meal (not including drinks).

bad bad bad.......

by mirnanyc

It is very disappointing to have to write such a review but to my fellow williamsburgers(!), I will save time and money.... i like french food eventhough I am italian, but when the french are taking us for idiots it is very annoying! Yes, this restaurant serves the worst food I have ever eaten in my whole life!

By reading other reviews, I see I was not the only one disappointed.... I had the lamb, rubber meat and bad garnishing, 2 friends had mussels, suspicious and another friend had the steak frite (mc cain's for sure....can't they at least make the fries!)...anyway very bad experience in a very nice decor...spread the word!

best worst french food

by martingal

I had been recommended to go to juliette from friends that went there for brunch so my girlfriend and I decided to go there one sunday night. It was one of the worst experience I have had in dining out in NYC. What do those people think? that because the neighbourhood is changing they can serve "de la merde" to customers and charge big bucks for it!!! The chicken was like chicken "perdue", you know the one that has no bones because it has been raised without moving, disgusting..... only the polenta is organic that is for sure! My girlfriend had the lamb chops and for $24 you expect good meat and vegetables but again it was extremly disappointing....

The only nice thing in this bistro is the decor.....but you cannot build a reputation on simply a decor, even in america so wake up guys and start being honest with your customers because williamsburg is a small community!

Surprisingly Good

by hottfussnyc

I came here with a friend last week, we decided to have an early dinner (5:30) and so went to try. We sat inside, rooftop seemed nice but I hate b ugs and the stuff from the air that can get in your food. Decor-wise, the place is very cute and comfortable. Since we were the only ones eating, we had attentive service from our waiter. Food did not take long to come out, we had this AMAZING gnocchi with maine lobster (this was a special). I never had great gnocchi before, it is usually dry when I have it but this was just right and tasty and good portions lobster meat. We also had the crab cakes, which were good but I've had better. My friend had the cod as a entree which was very good (and I normally don't eat seafood but I liked it) and I had the special with was beef tenderloin and short rib. Both pieces were succulent, juicy, and tender and flavorful. Was so full from the appetizers though so took it home and microwaved the next day and was still pretty good! The side of mashed potatoes was creamy and good too. Overall I enjoyed our food and the place itself. Only thing that bothered me was that the waiter was a bit overbearing, but again I think it was because we were the only ones there at the time.

  • Pros: had great good, enjoyed the ambeince

A bit too big for its French britches...

by jennyinnyc

The only thing this place has going is the great atmosphere. I had been here before for brunch and it was fine. Excited to have dinner on their rooftop, a friend and I returned for dinner. If not for the great rooftop dining area, it would have been one of the worst dining experiences I have had in the New York City region.

There are next to no vegetarian options and the staff was not at all willing to change a dish to accommodate a vegetarian. She ended up ordered a bean salad and the cheese plate. I had mussels. Nothing that takes very long to prepare. The service was so slow that after an hour and a half we were ready to ask for the drink bill and just leave. I asked the about our order, and the waiter was so condescending and patronizing in his "I am sure it will be right out madame" answer that we would have left if the meal did not arrive soon after. At one point I looked around and realized that everyone else seemed to be waiting for their meals too--very few tables actually had food. The wait staff was not attentive to making sure we at least had drinks while we waited. The food was bland at best. The bread was not fresh. Portions were much too small for what you paid for. We are both patient, forgiving ladies who are used to waiting for food in New York and waiters who are less than friendly, but this was so bad I was inspired to create an account and write a citysearch review....

  • Pros: Great atmosphere
  • Cons: Rude inattentive waiters, slow service, below average food

Slow service

by kayomat

I have gone to this restaurant twice so far, each time leaving the place disappointed. It is a very charming bistro with lots of detail and the atmosphere is fun, but the service and food just doesn't live up to its decor. When I went there with a friend for dinner, they kept on trying to seat people right next to us, even though the restaurant was empty. Everyone would subsequently ask the waiter if they can be seated elsewhere, and it was irritating that this ordeal continued throughout our dinner. The service was extremely slow and aloof. It took close to 20 minutes to get our drinks, and whatever we asked our waiter to bring, we had to ask someone else for the second time. The burger I ordered had a weird smell and frozen fries were unappetizing. I couldn't bring myself to eat it, so I took (re-ordered) the spicy chicken entree. This was bland and reminded me of asian-inspired frozen dinners... My friend's special lamb entree was actually good, and I'm sure there are other items on the menu I've overlooked, but I won't go back unless the service improves...

  • Pros: Charming details, Roof seating
  • Cons: Slow service, Average food
