Slow Service, small portions

by pippa82

I went here twice. Both times the service was slow and the portions were very small. The second time we went, my friend found a hair in his pasta and my fish was undercooked. I left feeling hungry. On the upside they do have a good wine selection, but it takes much too long to get your food.

  • Cons: slow service, small portions

Authentic

by simonfiver

I thought the food here was excellent. From the bruschetta to the chocolate cake, amazing. Would highly recommend. My only negative comment would be that the portions are small, so order plenty if you're hungry.

This place is awful!

by cateastend

This place is so bad! It is loud, the food is bad, the service is slow. I ordered the orchietta with sausage and it was so spicy. My friend ordered the meatballs and he said they sat in stomach for hours afterwards. The portions are really small except for the chicken made in a sweet and sour sauce, that was just plain weird tasting.Even the expresso they messed up, they served it with a spoon that did not fit in the cup. Don't bother coming here.

I Think I Have Hypertension Now

by chiway

I live right around the corner and frequently pass by this perpetually busy italian joint. I was excited to try it, as it has been quite some time since I've had an outstanding italian meal. When I walked in, it looked like just my type of place: a pristine open kitchen, homey, gently-lit decor, bar seating, and tables cozily aligned in what seemed like a neighborhood favorite. However, most of the food fell flat and a couple dishes even proved offensive. There were two dishes in particular that were so unforgivably inedible due to excess salt as to render the entire meal ruined (bistecca toscano and another which I can't seem to remember). Over salting a dish, especially to the assaulting degree in which Lunetta did it, is one of those mistakes in fundamental cooking that should never occur. Even though I believe that severe over-seasoning is one of those culinary offenses that should never be forgiven, I may just give Lunetta another shot and hope that either the chef responsible for that disappointing tragedy of a meal has already been fired, or simply was having a terrible off day where he or she was suffering from temporary blindness at the time our dish was being salted. As soon as my bloood pressure returns to normal after that salt-ridden fiasco, I will give Lunetta one more - but hopefully not one last - taste.

Very nice for an older crowd.

by Yawnman

When this place first opened it was fine. Never really great but an old standby. But now it seems to have been adopted by what looks like a Florida retirement crowd. Glad they have their spot on Smith Street... but I won't be back. I felt like it was an early bird special atmosphere...

superb and affordable

by skkbklyn

My fiance and I went there on a Saturday night and rather than waiting 45 minutes for a table, decided to dine at the bar. To begin, the cocktails were inventive and refreshing. The food was outstanding especially the orecchiete with sausage. Simply to die for. The attentive service, affordable wine list and delicious side dish of rapini with garlic rendered the evening very enjoyable. We whole heartedly recommend it!

Fantastic Italian food

by agmac23

I eat out a lot, especially in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill and this is one of my top three restaurants (Patois and Saul round out the list). Go here--great antipasto, and definitely try the meatballs and the orecchiette with sweet sausage.

Tasty, Comfy and Affordable

by taksa

This is a lovely spot with attentive staff and a cozy garden. The "small plates" here are actually quite generous and most are a good value. We had some of the plumpest mussels around, with a light and savory fresh tomato sauce; and abundant sauteed mixed mushroom plate; a really well prepared flank steak; a heaping green salad with large shavings of parmesan and dry cured ham; and a perfectly executed chocolate panacotta with sour cherries. All this was accompanied by not-too sweet margaritas and prosecco for dessert. Good find.

by sroscoe73

beautiful atmosphere, helpful and knowledgable service people. the flavors in the food were spot on: interesting and a great variety without being overwhelming. the only issue i had was how small the portions were for the price, but outstanding food nonetheless.

  • Pros: excellent variety of dishes, service and atmosphere great
  • Cons: small dishes/with unmatching prices
