From the time I first contacted Sterling Moving and spoke to Stephan to the time Vlad and his crew moved me from Manhattan to Brooklyn and set up everything in my new home, these folks transformed what I feared would be a stressful experience into one of ease and comfort. Stephan's in-house estimate was reasonable and on-target. There were no sudden hidden charges and the quote was a solid written agreement. Stephan, their representative, was pleasant, polite and a gentleman with which to do business. On the days of my moves (due to circumstances I had to do 2 moves, one to storage and one to my new home), Vlad and his crew showed up on time and were incredibly efficient, courteous and friendly. Everything was done in the timeframe they estimated it would be done and done with care. Should I ever have to move again, Sterling will be my choice. They live up to their name and provide STERLING SERVICE in every way.

Pros: Accurate written quote. Courteous. On-time. Efficient and friendly.

Cons: None, would use them again without a second thought.

Stefan was amazing, from the first phone call when he agreed to come give a quote within 3 days (everyone else was a week or more), to the first meeting, when he came and gave us an accurate and thorough assessment of our move, to the day of the move when he led his team to move us. He and his 3 guys worked hard, gave good estimates of timing and were really just nice guys to work with for the day. The price was exactly as quoted and every part of the move was made flawlessly. At the end of the day, when they realized they brought up one of the rugs last, they picked up the furniture so we could get the rug down in place without having to be asked and without an attitude. Completely pleasant experience and we would recommend them to anyone!

I used Sterling to move from my 6th floor elevator building apartment in Astoria to Baltimore, MD last summer. They were amazing!!! Moving is usually pretty stressful, but these guys made it so easy for me. They finished loading in record time and drove straight through to deliver the same day!! All I had to do was relax on the Amtrak all the way down and meet them at my new place. They were friendly, the quote was fair and accurate, and there were no hidden fees. I can't recommend them enough. There is no competition in the New York area!

Pros: Friendly, reasonable, reliable, fast!

These guys certainly lived up to their reputation. The quote Stefan gave me was what I paid and the service they provided was outstanding. I would definitely recommend them to my friends. Thanks Stefan, Bob and Vlad.

Recently my husband and I moved to Hoboken, NJ from NYC. Stefan, Vlad and Bob arrived at 9 am in the morning exactly as they promised. All three of them were very kind and courteous. We have asked for packing service done and they worked quietly and fast. By 11 am, our 1 bedroom apartment was all packed up and ready to be moved to Hoboken! We arrived in our new apartment via PATH and they were already there ready to unload. Everything arrived safely and no damage, no loss was found on any of our items. They assembled furnitures and arranged some heavy objects so we did not have to do any lifting later. By the time they left at 3pm, only thing we had to do was unpacking boxes and even that was breeze (each box was clearly marked with contents). In terms of pricing, we found Sterling is extremely competitive. Prior to move, we have contacted various moving services to compare the price quotes and Sterling has quoted the most reasonable, no-frill, no-fine print pricing. We were extremely happy with this moving experience! Especially to a pregnant woman like myself, a service like this is truly invaluable. I will recommend this company to all my colleagues and friends. Thank you guys!

We highly recommend this moving company (Sterling Moving and Storage - based in Astoria, NY) to anyone. The great service began when we asked for someone to come down and give us a free quote. Talk about efficiency - same day Stefan from Sterling (who is nice, helpful and professional) came, gave us a very reasonable and firmed quote on the spot. By 'very reasonable' I mean their price beat both Flatrate and Oz moving by a big margin, that was after both Flatrate and Oz reduced their first quotes by about 20%!! So you would think we would get a raw deal at this price? Not at all. Both of us considered Sterling Moving as the best mover we had so far. Personally, I think big moving companies may charge more because they have an established brand and size, but also because of their size, in my view they are also less likely to provide the kind of personal service and quality control that smaller companies like Sterling Moving can offer. It definitely showed in our move that Sterling Moving proved that they have these special qualities. It was a tough move. We needed to move from two locations (one ground floor and one fifth floor walk-up) to a fourth-floor walk-up. Apart from the usual household stuff, we also had to move a professional sound-proof room which literally weighs a ton. Four guys (including Stefan who was the team leader that day) and one large truck turned up on time that freezing morning. Despite the stairs and the weight, they moved at lightning speed, handle everything with care and did it with a smile. We found all of them friendly, nice and professional to deal with all the way till the end. Totally trouble-free!! Nothing broken, nothing missing. The price is excellent. No nasty surprises. What more can you ask for? We will definitely use them again.

I'm from Boston and had to find a NYC mover to pack and move items my somewhat demanding boss had in multiple storage facilities. To find an ethical moving company blindly, from out of state, was a daunting challenge. I fully expected to get jerked around and ripped-off. I feel so fortunate to have found Sterling and, specifically, Stefan. Professional and direct right from the start, with a competitive, binding quote. They arrived right on time and, soon after watching them work, I started to relax. They worked hard and efficiently. They treated fragile items with great care. They explained each step. Always cordial and respectful. My boss hadn't provided me with much info about what was in storage so the move turned out to be more complicated and involved than anticipated. But the way they handled each new obstacle was perhaps what was most impressive. Nothing fazed them. They dealt with everything in such a positive, professional, accommodating way. They really understand what it means to provide "service". This 2 day move, involving multiple stops, covering hundreds of miles, went perfectly. Even my demanding boss was pleased. This is an ethical, professional moving company that is punctual, hard-working, efficient, extremely careful, and always respectful and cordial. I dealt with Stefan, who is tireless, resourceful, committed to customer satisfaction, and quietly charming. I lucked out finding Sterling. I enthusiastically recommend them.

Pros: Their honesty, professionalism, and committment to service.

Cons: One of the movers was an ardent Yankee fan.

I rang to get basic information about quotes and Sterling wouldn't give me anything unless I gave them my specific address first, including apt number. I said I preferred to only give a general location (i.e. Murray Hill/Midtown), and he hung up on me. That alone makes me question this company. I talked to three other companies listed on Citysearch (Integrity, Imperial and Manor) -- all of whom were able to give helpful advice over the phone and basic quotes without knowing my personal specifics. I don't recommend Sterling at all based on this phone query.

Let me preface this by saying I've moved a lot. 6 times in 8 years a lot. After moving this often I've come to dread moving day as it's always stressful and you never know what you are going to get with a moving company. I called sterling about three weeks ahead of my move date to get an estimate. Stefan came over and estimated we would need 24 boxes (there were 21) and 4 hours of move time (it took 3.5 hours) for my entire 1 bedroom apartment. The guys that came were incredibly professional, straightforward, on-time and moved everything quickly and safely. They took apart and reassembled the bed and even provided two wardrobe boxes for our clothes which I was planning to move myself. I was also planning to take my flat-screen TV with me but they had a special box with padding in the truck to move that as well. I don't let anyone touch the TV but I felt so comfortable with the guys I let them take it and there were no problems. This was BY FAR the best move that I have ever experienced and due to the professionalism displayed by the movers it was painless and stress free. I would highly recommend Sterling Moving to anyone planning to hire a mover.

they moved me and didnt give me any problems or hassles about pricing or tips. all my stuff got where it had to go in one piece and they were quick about it. definitely would use them again.
