worst employee

by emperry

It was a cute store and i spent money there until a little less then a year ago, the owner hired a new sales employee with the worst attitude and manors. I just bought an alexander wang piece there and wish i didn't, because they sale the same piece at MANY other stores. I refuse to shop there till that girl is gone with the curl dark hair. She is very intimating with that attitude. i give this place very poor reviews. i think you should all go to oak, around the corner with better clothes, better people and vibes.

  • Pros: clothes
  • Cons: i don't want spend my money in that environment

What can I afford to buy???

by oatmealraisin

There is something intimidating about going into a store, a tiny store at that, and MAYBE being able to afford one piece, if that one piece happens to be on sale. In this economy, picking out clothes that will last more than one or two seasons critical. Although they do carry some interesting designers, this is not a place for classics that you can wear over and over again.

  • Pros: Designer choices are interesting
  • Cons: Price point and selection for "average" fashion conscious consumer

Williamsburg Gem

by marisaschwartz

I was amazed that somehow my boyfriend who lives in Israel managed to have the owner of jumelle design my engagement ring. The shop's customer service is beyond courteous, personal and truly exceptional. I have only visited jumelle on few occasions, but I will be sure to return, if even only to browse the racks of lovely, unique finds.

  • Pros: exceptional customer service, unique selections and racks are not overly stuffed with merchandise

Why the Pomp?

by lisel001

I really like the clothes at Jumelle, but I find the experience overall a bit uncomfortable. When I first went to Jumelle, they glared at me like I couldn't affort it and paid me no mind. Not a good thing, because I could have bought anything and everything in that store --if I wanted. A lot of people I know have had a similar experience. Honestly, if I'm going to drop $500 or $600 for a dress, you could at least make me feel like a wanted customer. I have bought a few pieces there, but mostly I buy my clothes at Bird. If Jumelle was a little more welcoming, I would definately shop there more and spend more money.

  • Pros: Nice pieces
  • Cons: They're doing you a favor by selling to you

Best Brooklyn Boutique

by JonnyBriggs

Fresh, well chosen eclectic selection of US and European clothing.

Staff don't over-sell stuff and give an honest opinion if something suits you (or not) which I really appreciated.

Love it!

  • Pros: great selection, good, well-informed staff, fab location
  • Cons: too many good things - my poor purse!

great location and selection

by leabazter

Jumelle is by far my favorite shop in Brooklyn. The selection is supreme and the lovely ladies are most helpful and honest. For shopping or just browsing, Jumelle is always spot-on.

Great location, but store no cutting the mustard for the neighborhood

by marcostela

I have been to Jumelle several times and each time it gets progressively worse. Originally, the selection had a bit of variety, but at this point it's all loose fitting clothing with pretty much the same style. It's obvious the buyer favors one style and is purchasing items to her liking, not the customers of Williamsburg. It's unfortunate that Ylli went out of business since the selection there was far more diverse, I would gather that Jumelle will be shutting it's doors soon as well. Maybe if they act quick and buy some merchadise for fall, if they haven't used up their budget, that would attract other customers they might have a shot. I hope they try.

  • Pros: Limited selection
  • Cons: Great location, clean and bright

Unique for Williamsburg, but very typical for the city

by jwaters71

Eh, sorry...but Jumelle isn't all that unique. Perhaps for Williamsburg (but still, Oak and Ylli carry much more unique and fashion-forward stuff), but not for the city. If anything, these girly-type boutiques are a dime a dozen right across the river. That said, the shop is clean and the clothes are organized well...but the owner is a bit self-absorbed and disingenuous. Instead of being honest about things that were too big on me (I know what my size is, I'm over 35, sheesh!), she kept saying that everything looked good, great, awesome, blah blah. Sorry, but I'd rather spend my hard-earned money at boutiques where the people working will at least be honest about how things look on me...instead of so flagrantly pushing sales.

  • Pros: clean, well-organized airy space
  • Cons: not such a unique selection...you can find these labels in so many other boutiques

Simple luxury

by quellegauche

The selection in Jumelle is stellar... Everything from the window displays to the friendly helpful staff is appealing. I have to avert my eyes walking by it or I can too easily spend WAY more than I ought to. Of course it's not for bargain hunting, but nothing is inflated beyond its worth. As a shop with hard to find brands and a buyer with an eye for truly beautiful pieces, Jumelle is a delight to visit.

  • Pros: Beautiful clothing, great sense of style, helpful and friendly staff
  • Cons: I spend too much money there? Not their fault really...
