Loved this place! Had a wonderful massage there, and loved relaxing in their wet lounge. Their Client Appreciation week is coming up July 13, and their offering $60 massages and facials. Very exciting.

  • Pros: clean facilities, relaxing, awesome massage

Relaxing, Worthwhile Experience

by BBranson73

Last weekend I took my wife here for our anniversary...... she loved it!!! We had a couples massage so we were in the same room and our therapists were really friendly and talented. We also loved hanging out in the jacuzzi room where they had saunas and a steam room too. I would definitely go back, everyone was extremely friendly, professional and welcoming.

  • Pros: wet lounge, bar, awesome massage

TGIF

by green_frog

Thank God It was Free. If you sign up for their mailing list, you get a coupon for the $44 entrance fee to the Wet Spa. It was much smaller than expected, and too crowded to really relax. We were on top of each other in the hot tub and saunas. Most disappointing was the lack of food after brunch time was over. The only cooked food they could offer was mozzarella sticks, and the only juice available was tomato - not exactly the kind of food you want on a "detox" day. A juice bar would have made all the difference. I don't recommend the salt scrub - it's nothing you couldn't do on your own.

Amazing Massage Therapists

by murdoc1112

After reading about this place and looking at the location, I thought the place was much bigger, but it was a small place. However, my massage was great!!!!!!! I would recommend to my friends to go to him but my overall experience was good. Considering that this was my second massage, I loved every minute of it it was so great that I fell asleep while getting the massage, that is how relaxed I was. I will definitely be going back there to see him again.

What on earth happened to this spa!

by Clintonhillster

I went to this place last year with a big group of ladies from my church and we had the best time. We where there for the whole day and it was so special. My massage with Sharon was the best I ever had.

I don't remember the managers name but he worked with our event planner for a month to put it together and couldn't have been sweeter. One of the ladies who attended was from out of town and when she came back to visit this year she couldn't wait to go back so we did. What on earth happened to this spa! Such a pretty place but I never felt so unwelcome in my life and most of all the personal touch that made our last visit so special was completely gone.

Such a shame

  • Pros: pretty
  • Cons: I felt like I was in an ice box but I'm not talking about the temperature, cold, cold, cold

Worst Spa ever

by samatha159

It makes me angry that a valid and useful service such as this one can so easily be taken advantage of. The reviews on this site have clearly been done by friends and current employees of this spa. If you really want the scoop on this spa visit the "clintonhillfoodie" website and look up the joint

You'll get a very clear idea of what the story really is and how this spa is viewed by the local community.

The Tepid Tub and The Towel Search

by SassyCorr

A couple of girlfriends and I went for a birthday celebration, hoping to go to a Spa-style Russian Bath. We checked out the website, it sounded like just the thing...dry and wet saunas, a jacuzzi, an arctic plunge pool, a bar, a restaurant, and private spa therapy rooms for anyone who wanted to further indulge in a body treatment, all for the relatively reasonable price of $45. (Although that "admission" price is a little high than some baths, it looked a little more chichi than say, Emerald Spa)

The facility was pretty, the locker rooms were clean, that's where the compliments end. There were never any towels. There's a huge shelf for holding towels right before you walk into the Sauna area, yet there was never a towel on it. Every time we wanted a towel, we'd have to go find one. The hot tub was never hot. When we first arrived it was 87 degrees and never made it above 91 during the 3 hours we spent at the baths. When it was time to go get something to eat at the restaurant and have a cocktail, we headed to the "restaurant and bar" promised online. They were just breaking down their Saturday/Sunday Brunch (it was about 2:30pm) and there wouldn't be any food service again until 3:30. Inconvenient, but we were willing to wait, so we ordered drinks.

The drinks were expensive. Their signature martinis were about 4 ozs. and $14 each, a friend ordered a beer and the mug was half foam.

It was finally time to order lunch (the sample menu on the website, looks yummy) so we approached the bar (there wasn't anyone coming to tables to take or deliver drinks or food) and made our menu choices. The only things available (on a Saturday...shouldn't the menu be full?) were Baked Salmon, Fried Calamari, and Waffle fries. Settling on the potatoes, we decided to go eat AFTER the spa.

One more round of the Saunas (with dingy, stained towels) and we left disappointed. I'll stick with Emerald Spa for now.

  • Pros: None.
  • Cons: Not as advertised, dirty towels, small/cold jacuzzi, expensive pub food.

Great Overall Experience

by mcs1123

I am a Brooklynite who has frequented several spas in Manhattan and in various cities when I travel but Body by Brooklyn offers the best overall spa experience. The space is fantastic, large and well set out, from the locker rooms, the wet lounge the bar and the therapy rooms. I have never had the same therapist twice and each of them has been phenomenal! The bar and restaurant are terrific; the drinks are innovative and delicious. Due to the wonderful experiences I have had, I have increased the frequency of my spa visits and have brought friends along who are now frequent patrons. The only problems I have encountered have occurred when scheduling appointments; there have been errors with regard to the date and time of my appointments and the policies have not been clearly communicated by the scheduling staff; however, the staff and management were responsive and friendly and quick to assist with resolutions. If you don't frequent Body by Brooklyn, you definitely should. I guarantee you will be hooked!

  • Pros: Great therapists, unique space
  • Cons: Scheduling mishaps

Best massage EVER...and I have had many!!!

by renette

My friends and I come from Manhattan as often as we can to spend the day and I'll tell you why. This place is HUGE! I mean, you can really relax and stretch out here...there's even a dining/bar area. The dressing rooms are very large and SUPER clean and that's very important to me when I come to a spa. I feel like this spa has cut down on towels though and you used to be able to access replacement robes when yours gets cold and wet but there don't seem to be extras left out anymore. I'm guessing that is due to cost or theft...either would make sense. Also, they also seem to be allowing cell phones in when they used to NEVER be allowed which is case at all spas I have ever been to. I even saw a STAFF MEMBER talking on his cell phone in the lounge area...to me this cannot be overlooked and must at least be mentioned. A spa is a place to relax, forget work, forget your problems and breathe. I certainly don't want to overhear someone talking about THEIR work and THEIR problems when I am spending good money to relax and enjoy myself so I do hope someone reads this and corrects it or I cannot see myself continuing to go there. I heard people on their phone in the locker room and the lounge. If you cannot go a few hours without using your cell phone then a spa cannot help you. I did leave a comment card and hopefully management reads it.

But let me tell you, if you have never had platza done on you before or if you THINK you've had good platza...(treatment explained on their website) then you have to come and see Ben. He is truly AMAZING not to mention hilarious and easy to relax around.

The food was great as usual, they seem to have a very skilled Chef...food is always wonderful.

And best of all...my masseuse Amy was a total dream. I have never before had such a skilled massage and left smiling, relaxed and 100% pain and stress free. Go to Body by Brooklyn for the body treatments, the food, the BRUNCH on weekends and the awesome saunas. Good times:)

  • Pros: Great wet lounge--huge dressing room--great food
  • Cons: Cell phones allowed--staff could be friendlier
