The frozen zombie

It was an overall good experience visiting the hut. I agree that there was nothing tiki about it, but the drinks were economical and the bar maid RENEE was friendly and inviting. The best place in the h1t had got to be in the back near the fireplace. Overall the zombie hut was a satisfying moment. Also the music was something to be "desired" for
Tiki bar brings the heat and sweetness of the tropics to Smith Street.

The Scene
A tribal mask greets you at the front door, a thatched roof and bamboo adornments decorate the bar and a vibraphone player finishes off the more-ironic-than-exotic tropical ambience. With an appropriately kitschy touch, Zombie Hut brings the "The Brady Bunch"-in-Hawaii to Brooklyn's burgeoning restaurant row.
The Draw
Drinks decked out with umbrellas and plastic monkeys lure a mixed crowd to this lounge. The Frozen Zombie is an innocent-looking pink slushy drink made with two rums, pineapple and orange juice, but beware the first sip--a secret ingredient, possibly Bacardi 151, is shot directly into the straw. The Singapore Sling is a top choice for gin drinkers, and hula buddies can share a Scorpion Bowl, which comes aflame in a ceramic basin with two straws.
A tiki bar you shouldn't be afraid of.

I'm used to those midtown fratty tiki bars that are filled with obnoxious high fivers and loud women huddled around a flaming bowl of booze waiting to get picked up by aforementioned meatheads. This is not that place. Maybe it's because of it's location in Brooklyn, but Zombie Hut are filled with sweet regulars and witty staff, which makes it a great option after work or on weeknights to say, a regular beer bar. Mai Tais and Frozen Zombies are so good, and sometimes necessary. I like taking my friends from out of town here. Maybe the weekend are nuts, I dunno, I stick to the weeknight ritual myself.
- Pros: fun drinks, inexpensive, pretty room
- Cons: sugar hangovers
