Great Empanadas!

by ericainnewyork

This is such a fun place to eat for adults and kids. My 5 year old loves to go for the wicky stix!

I've gone there for lunch with my daughter and had great empanadas with Colombian style sancocho.

I've also had dinner there with friends and had great drinks at good prices.

It is a refreshing place to eat and I highly recommend it.

AAA+++ Bogota Bistro...for great tasting food and Ambiance, "Bogota is my Choice"

by RSTFamily

Bogota was great! My family and I went to the restaurant on a Wednesday evening for dinner...unknowing to my knowledge and nice surprise; the restaurant had an entertainer performing that night. The ambiance was wonderful. I once attempted...on the fly to have dinner on a Friday, very noticeably busy...which to me is a good sign. There was a wait and at that time it was not an option...even though they had a bar for drinks, to make the wait pleasant...I was with family...and the family did not want to wait.

Back to my experience; This past Wednesday...In whole, dinner was wonderful; the drinks, the appetizers, my main dish and of course desert. The service and music performer was super and as stated before...the food was fabulous. I enjoyed every moment...most important, I felt relaxed. I look forward to re-experiencing it all over again.

  • Pros: Great tasting food, great service, great ambiance.
  • Cons: None yet.

Confusing and poor mix of food

by mhunt75

The name of this restaurant is " Bogota Latin Bistro". Bogota is the capital city of Colombia. I went to this restaurant expecting authentic Colombian food especially from the Bogota region which differs from other Colombian cities.

I can understand a menu for a Colombian restaurant offering dishes from all parts of the country. I can even understand offering dishes from other countries. I understand these folks are in business and need to draw in customers.

I am very disappointed firstly because the menu offers Colombian dishes topped off with Mexican flavors ! These two cuisines are unique ! If I want Mexican, I will seek out a Mexican restaurant. Have the owners assumed we are too ignorant to explore the delicious home made flavorful rustic cuisine of Colombia?

An arepa is Colombian but topped with guacamole or avocado? Tortilla chips??? Quesadillas?? Cubano Sandwich? Fish Tacos???

If you expect Colombian food, you will be very disappointed like I was.

If you want MEXICAN FOOD, or Mexican Fusion then go. Otherwise, forget it.

Great Food, Great Service, Great Drinks

by marysuonno

I LOVE this restaurant for so many reasons. I have been there six or seven times and each time I leave thinking it is the best restaurant in Park Slope. The menu is extensive and each dish I tried was not only delicious but a great value for the price. I always order the empanda sampler and the coconut flan. There drinks are equally great- you can't go wrong with their classic mojitio ( 5 dollars!!) and they have wide selection of Latin beers. The service is consistently outstanding. I find their waiters to be knowledgeable and friendly, but not too overbearing, they are able to make informed recommendations and can answer any question about the menu. FInally-their host staff is also great. I had a large party and they were able to accommodate us even though several members were late.I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, a fun atmosphere, and good drinks.

Poor service, mediocre food

by Jeneden

To start with the positive, the guava jalapeno margarita was great. However the story goes downhill from there. We were there with a large group (of 12). As with many large groups, all members do not arrive at the same time. About 6 of our group members arrived first and were seated at a table for six, with the staff knowing that we were expecting more people. Within the half hour, we were up to 12. The staff made no effort to accommodate our expanding group. Four members of our party had to sit across the restaurant (while there was a large-group set-up that remained unused for the first half of our time and then seated with a couple and a small party during the second half). When the table next to us opened up, we asked our server if we could add it to our table and have our separated members join us. He offered to clean it first and did not refuse our request. In his absence, the hostess came over and rudely reprimanded us for asking our group members to come and sit near us citing issues with billing and ordering. She was inflexible and not as responsive to the needs of our group as she should have been. If there were such grave issues with us changing tables, as a restaurant hostess, there are nicer, friendlier ways of conveying such information. Restaurants are a hospitality business and the service and attitude that we received at Bogota was inhospitable to say the least. I would not recommend this place for a group gathering especially since in addition to the rude service, the food was not anything "to write home about" (I could say this having a good knowledge of Caribbean/Latin American foods by having family members in the restaurant business specializing in similar cuisine and my own extensive travel to those regions).

My absoulte fav!

by gfav

I haven't written on city search in a very long time!!! I almost forgot I had an account, but I have been to aton of resturants!!! I always wanted to be a food critic I go out to eat a lot!!! this place never, ever, lets me down!!! I absoultly love this place!!!! If I could eat there every day I would!!!! I've gone for brunch, lunch, dinner, snack lol!!! you name it!!! You can not go wrong!!!! Bruch would be my fav since they usually have a live latin band playing. You get mimosas, coffee, or fresh juice with your brunch. My favorite is the fish tacos (not sure if that is on the brunch menu i go there too much to diffrentiate the menu sometimes), half garlic chicken (omg delicious!!) with steamed yucca potatos, garlic spinach, or red beans with yellow rice! I believe that is all for lunch/dinner menu. I always get the Bandej Paisa (Colombian platter) for bruch, it's a bit much but I can't resist :(. Oh and the drinks!!! I've walked out of there in the afternoon and little.....well you get the idea! The only thing the drinks can be a little small, you may feel the need to order more then one, but if it's happy hour...knock yourself out!!! Oh and they stay open late on Fri/Sat always drop in for take out...they have this pumpkin cheesecake that is sinful! not sure if it's a seasonal thing.

  • Pros: Great favorful food!
  • Cons: small drinks

Great Service, Great Drinks, Great Good, Great Price

by michy138

I had an event there last Saturday, a brunch; if I had to choose one word to describe the event. "FANTABULOUS"!!! It was a big group, over 60, and the staff and the owner, George, were very accommodating and attentive. The owner was on hand for any questions or concerns we had. The drinks were terrific and so was the food. Everyone is still talking about this place. It's very warm and inviting. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes Latin cuisine. We had empanadas and mojitos among the rest of robust menu and everyone was very satisfied. To top it off the pricing was very reasonable. It was about $25 for an appetizer, entree, dessert and a drink. Thank you Bogota Bistro for making the event a success. I'll definitely consider this venue for another event. We all had a wonderful time. Thanks again and the restaurant is gorgeous.

  • Pros: Great Food; Great Drinks
