my favorite spa in brooklyn !
by lizbk
Recently i received a gift certificate from my husband for a 60 min massage and facial. I have to say that was the best b.day present so far. I really enjoyed the massage, i felt sooo relaxed. Also., facial was great, i had a lot of blackheads and she cleaned them perfectly. I highly recommend this place, you will feel completly refreshed !
- Pros: facial, massage, stuff, everything
- Cons: none
Luxury spa service with no attitude, sales pressure or high costs
by nyc_grl
I must have walked past this spa a dozen times without noticing it, but when you walk in it's very serene, clean and relaxing. The owner did my manicure and pedicure, paying attention to every little detail. The price was totally reasonable - no need to go to Manhattan for luxury service, or have your cuticles butchered by the local $10 manicure shops.
- Pros: Service, ambience, availability
- Cons: They don't always have someone available to do special things like french manicure
BEST massage I EVER HAVE!!!!
by MICHAEL2929
I love this place. My back feels better than it has in 10 years! I've had chronic back pain for years, and Smith Street Spa offer me a deep great massage (they have the BEST hands in New York!) my back is about 100% better!
I cannot wait to go back there.
Thanks for always taking good care of me.
- Pros: Professional, friendly
- Cons: none at all

the facial was just okay...

On the recommendations here, and because I live in the neighborhood, I went for a facial with Margo. She did spend a decent amount of time on extractions, and they were definitely painful, more so than those at Providence Day Spa (also in the neighborhood). The facial itself was pretty basic, but the products were really nice--Dermalogica. After the facial, I still had the blemishes I had before, though, only smaller. A week and a half later, they have almost all disappeared, but after I exfoliated, put on a couple masks, and put zapping stuff on myself throughout the week. In contrast, after other facials, my skin looked markedly clearer and there were no blemishes remaining after 2-3 days, without me doing all that follow up stuff. It is a good value for a basic service, but if you can swing the extra $20 I would head somewhere else for a more thorough and lasting facial. Also, Margo left the room for 15-20 min while my mask was in--at other places, the facialist will stay and massage hands, feet, and scalp.
really nice place

I was a little worried that this place might not be so great, because the prices were actually within my range and a couple other reviewers stressed "no frills", but my mom was in town visiting and we wanted a spa in Brooklyn, not Manhattan. I have not really been to a spa before, so perhaps I am not the best person to review one, but I really was impressed with Smith street spa. No frills? I might have been intimidated by those anyhow. I thought the place was very nice and relaxing. Definitely clean, and it did have ambiance. The two women were both polish, and perhaps I am a bit biased, but Polish women as a rule are the most genuinely warm, welcoming, and kindhearted people alive.
I got a facial and a massage, my mom got the mani-pedi. The facial and the massage were both very thorough and relaxing. I liked that the place was small and intimate (or perhaps in my book that means 'lower key and less frills' in any case, they seemed intent on the quality of the procedure and the relaxation aspect versus making me feel like a diva.,) and no products were pushed on us AT ALL. It's one of those places that I just feel good about going to and really want the business to be successfull. I have every intention of returning. And they treated my mom really nicely.
- Pros: really nice women, clean, unpretentious
- Cons: none.
Fantastic Facial
by marystarrs
The price of facials at this spa are almost half of what one would pay anywhere in Manhattan. Margo was fantastic-- she was quite knowledgeable it's obvious she genuinely loves what she does. She extracted every pore on my face (I needed it) while keeping me nice and relaxed. She had a very sweet demeanor and didn't yap my head off (which I personally prefer) and instead focused on the job she was doing. Don't get me wrong, this spa is not fancy-- but should you really care if your eyes are closed the whole time? The place itself is modest but most importantly clean, quiet and complete with a great staff and the utmost professionalism. I highly recommend this place.
- Pros: professional, thorough, clean, quiet.
- Cons: modest interior, though it's quite irrelevent to the great job they do.
Great Facial
by jmuamy
Yeah! I've gotten quite a few facials over the years, and I always feel like I wasted my money. Finally, a good one! This spa does not have a huge waiting area with fancy cookies and orange water. You can occasionally hear street noise. BUT, this was the best facial I've ever had. And it only cost $83 with tax. Margo only works on Mondays. She really dug out my pores. I have small black heads on my nose that are always there, even after a facial. Not this time! My face is clean as a whistle and it's not all red and splotchy or anything. She did spend a good amount of time doing extractions. And even though she was picking at me pretty good, somehow it was very relaxing, too. It was great! I'll be back.
- Pros: extraction galore, no hard selling at all
- Cons: not fancy, but who cares!!!
Great facial, not so great eyebrown wax
by reviewerfromnyc
Was a little nervous after I had a brow wax but it was pretty average and the atmosphere is in need of some renovating. But, the facial I received was pretty good! Facialist stepped nicely through a few different treatments and I left feeling like my time and money was well-used.
- Pros: Good prices, great facial
- Cons: Plain atmosphere, average brow wax
Expert, painless wax
by bethanymac
Its worth it to travel to this tiny spa in cobble hill. She knows what she's doing. I recommend the salt scrub, and any wax is remarkably pain free!
- Pros: Affordability
- Cons: Convenience (call ahead for appointments)
