I stopped in this place last weekend since it had some good reviews posted on here. Well, I guess I stopped by on an off night, because there was two other people in the place besides me (not an exageration). I cannot comment on the jukebox because they had it turned off and just had K Rock playing from the radio (lame). Drink prices were dirt cheap ($1 PBR cans, and this was AFTER happy hour was over). They also had some wierd, torture/porn video from the 1960's playing on the television screen. The bartender seemed very friendly and so did the the two other patrons there. They conversed with me and made me feel welcomed, which was a plus. This bar is extremely small and there's actually more room on the front patio of the bar than inside the bar itself, which is actually good news for smokers because you're allowed to take your drink outside with you while having a smoke. This place is definitely a place I would check out again and hope for a more energetic crowd. The bartender did tell me that on certain, random nights people do get up and dance on the small bar (more like a counter top) and it does draw a large crowd at times. I just didn't see that personally when I was there probably because it's located in a very remote area with nothing else around besides abandoned factories, however the area still seemed fairly safe. One block away (closer to Bedford Ave.) stands another dive called The Levee which seemed a lot more popular. So, it can definitely serve as a back-up if you're not feeling Duff's.

Pros: Cheap Beers, Friendly Bartender, outdoor patio, Friendly Patrons make you feel welcomed

Cons: Not close to subway station, hardly anyone was there, located in a remote area

I've been stopping by Duff's for 2 years now, sometimes 4 times a week, sometimes once a month. I can't say nothing's changed from the beginning. In fact, it's only gotten better! Hotter bartenders (love ya LA and Tracy), JD has grown 2 feet (ok, maybe not), and more people that like to rock have discovered Duffs. One thing about this place that I tell anyone who will listen is that out of the probably 70 times I've been there never once have I seen a fight or had a problem with any patrons banging their heads to the hardest of tunes (and Johnny Cash and The Killers to mix it up a bit). I've shown up wearing anything from a tuxedo to Pantera t-shirts... it doesn't matter as long as you like to rock. The horrorshow gear covering every patch of space is must view for any fans of that film genre. And Thank the Lord for the outdoor deck since even a Dr likes a smooth Marlboro with his ice-cold Pabst. Go now and tell them the Doc sent ya.

Pros: Jukebox, Dive bar prices, hot ladies, cool dudes

Cons: I'm gonna need a liver transplant someday

Yes, y'all this is Tracy, part of the LaurieAnne/Tracy alcohol demolition crew. Judge me all you want for posting a review for my OWN place of employment, but having pride in what I do just goes to show how much Duffs rules! I've been bartending FOREVER, in very popular, busy establishments that I adore and am grateful to have been a part of. I adore Duffs. It's real. Jimmy Duff is grassroots. He's beeen part of the bar business for many years and instead of becoming a bar with no real definition to satifsyt the masses, he's held true to his vision. We may not be for everyone, but honestly, we ARE. We are not pretentious, we accept everyone, and we are all out to show everyone a good time. Come in and you are guaranteed a great conversation, a cold beer, a fab jameson shot (um, schhhhhyeah), and music that appeals to the most hardcore metalhead as well as a metal novice. JD, LA, Colin and myself will make it worth your while. Our welcome mat extends to all. Give us a try, trust me, you'll be hooked.

Pros: JD, LA, Tracy and Colin

Cons: nada

Duff's Brooklyn is the reincarnation of the old Bellevue on 9th Av. in Manhattan. Once again owner Jimmy Duff was ahead of the curve and brought a great bar to a rough looking neighborhood. If you're into Metal, especially 80's Metal, this is the greatest place in the world. The Juke has Priest, Maiden, Accept, and mainstream Metal selections from Ozzy and Skid Row. You also never know when somebody from a great band like Maiden or Carnivore will just drop by! The fact that it has Priest & Maiden on the Juke is worth the price of admission for any metalhead!! Service is always friendly. Jimmy hires great looking bartenders (Laurianne and Tracy) who look great & have zero attitude. Drinks are dirt cheap if you want PBR and still pretty inexpensive if you drink imports (Beck's $4.00). Rob Halford once said, "put on that jacket before you get too old let's rock & roll" If you like Metal get down here NOW!

Pros: Drinks, service, bartender, owner, beer selection, ambiance, decor, location, juke box

Cons: bathroom line when it's crowded

Be it a typical saturday night or christmas day at 2 am, Duffs will be open and ready to fill you with booze. LA and Tracy make an amazing barstaff, and Jimmy Duff is a legend in metal. Hail to Jimmy, and to the girls.

The bar is a reflection of a unique mind and personality. I think in his last life Jimmy was Gomez Adams. He travels in a hearse; there are Goth type objects, 60's pinups, and Dancing Dominic all over his place. (Dancing Dominic is the Mascot-Icon of the bar and made the trip /in memory only/ from 9th Ave. Let me Explain the Jukebox. I can't. It has Indy, Peggy Lee, Metal, Rock, Johnny Cash, Country-Punk, Neil Diamond, Ramones, and Sinatra. But I don't think Elvis. I have to check on that. There are 2 VCR's that show rock concerts and cult movies (and some movies I have never seen before) on 4 monitors around the bar. The bargirls $pit fire; for real; 151 Rum and a Zippo and they are all set. There is a great deck / patio that holds probably 40 people; so you can smoke, drink, and raise a lot of hell; there are no neighbors, because it is $mack in the middle of a warehouse district. And I saw a grill, so I'd guess they cook outside in the good weather. You are goings to see a lot of tats, pierces, bellybuttons, and cleavage. I can't comment on the beer because I'm a whiskey drinker, but the beer seems to be dive bar prices. You'll have fun, and I didn't see any bouncer so that is a good sign that the place doesn't attract a-holes looking for a fight. BTW; I had to use $ for an s because for some reason they censored $pit and $mack, but not hell, ya got me!

Pros: Good place; Nice People, Not Trendy (a plus to me.)

Cons: Bar gets cramped when deck isn't useable (cold, snow, rain, killer heat wave.)
