Best Thai restaurant!

by margarg

Song is so cute and the music is great. There's also outdoor sitting. It's always crowded, but the wait is worth it. My friends and I can't get enough of this place. I love the coconut soup, chicken sauteed chicken with vegetables in a fresh garlic sauce with sticky rice, mango rice pudding and the Tahi Spare Ribs. The drinks are also delicious. The best part is when you get the bill and only pay $20 each. BTW, this place is not small and it's very clean.

  • Pros: Good value for your money.
  • Cons: Long wait for a table.

If you want good Thai food...Don't come here.

by iheranndez

I went Monday night with my boyfriend because I passed by it all the time and thought the the look of it was unique. I knew it was a bad choice when we couldn't figure out where the door was. As soon as we entered I thought "this place is kinda small but they are plenty of people here so it must be good food". As we waited for a table I used the bathroom and I can only compare it to a bathroom at a public beach on the 4th of July. Ick.

We were seated in fromt of the 'DJ booth" but the "DJ booth" was made up of crates holding up their DJ euipment which made it look dirty but I was glad no music was playing becasue its too small of a place to have really loud music, you might go tone deaf. Not too mention the decor and paint on the wall were drabe and depressing.

But that wasn't the worse part. We kinda of indecisive as many of the items on the menu did not resemble thai food whatsoever and the waiter kept coming over to us asking if we were ready. When we were finally ready he came over and as my boyfriend took one more look at the menu, the waiter walks away.

We order appetizers to start. He had the coconut chicken soup and I had the thai mango salad. When we received the food it looked like it would be good. But it was all smoke and mirrors. His soup tasted like smelly socks and my salad was gross and I picked the salad becasue I thought there is no way they can mess up a salad but they surely did. They actually put planters peanuts into the salad. I know Thai food uses peanut oil but Planters peanuts? Really?

Him and I barely touched the appetizers and I had not ordered my entree yet becasue I was still deciding, well the appetizers made up my mind. I told my boyfriend "let's go, if the appetizers were this bad imagine what the entree's are going to taste like". We paid and left. We walked two blocks down to AOC bar and the food there was great.

Best tasting Thai food at affordable prices.

by SweetLily123

This is one of my all time favorite Thai places. The food is always hot and very tasteful. You must have the calamari salad. It is one of my all time favorite dishes. The drinks are strong but a bit pricey ($8 and up). Do not go on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights because I can guarantee you that you have to wait 30 minutes after 7pm. It is best to go in the afternoon or right after work.

  • Pros: Affordable and tasty food.
  • Cons: can get alittle cowarded.

Best Thai food @ such an affordable price!

by CMejias222

I eat to Song anytime Im in the area. The food is amazing, fresh and it really is the best Thai food Ive ever eaten. The best part about the experience is the fact that you dont have to over-pay for delicious Thai. The decor and the atmosphere is that of a much more expensive restaurant except its really not expensive at all. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves fresh Thai food, really anyone who loves food in general. For those who havent tried Thai, this would be a great place to experiment.

  • Pros: Delicious & Fresh Thai at low prices
  • Cons: None

Great food, great prices

by TonyParas

I live on the same block and have gone here at least twenty times (not including take-out). Food: extremely tasty and full of exotic flavors/spices- highly recommend the mussels appetizer, the squid pad thai, and the skirt steak special (ask for the hot pepper/hot sauce tray as well, which contains four types of hot seasoning). Prices - very cheap, considering the quality of the food and the neighborhood (yes, unfortunately full of organically-clothed yuppie-hippy-mommies). My girl and I usually get a bottle of wine (about $20), two appetizers ($5-$7 each), two entrees ($9-$13 each), leave a 20% tip, and usually have 2 rounds of drinks at the bar ($5-$7 each) while we wait. So, the max I'm usually laying is $80-$90 for 2, and that includes A LOT of food (much of it taken home and eaten on Sunday morning - sounds gross but it's GEWD!!!) and 4 drinks each (2 each at the bar and 2 each in the bottle of wine. So, if you don't drink, you're looking at a miniscule $40-$50 for 2). The wait for a reasonably-sized table (2-4) is never, ever more then 45 minutes, so I'm not sure what all the complaining is about. Song is popular and doesn't take reservations, so I don't think a little time chatting with your friends/family while you sit at the bar or wait outside in the pretty nabe is such a big deal. Finally, regarding some negative comments here - yes, sometimes people get loud in there, and yes, drunk people screaming right next to you CAN be annoying. But can't you just relax and have fun? It might be cathartic. The music is loud, the people are loud, and the place is busy...Song is no place to discuss the the latest "breakthrough" you've had in therapy, the difficulties in adhering to the latest zeitgeist in affluent, urban parenting, or the misogyny of Phillip Roth.

  • Pros: Food, Prices
  • Cons: A bit of a wait, you might see breast feeding, men in bad sandals

Food is excellent. From the Mussels in a great spicy sauce to the rest of the menu along with the spicy noodles. Yes, the food is spicy but not hot unless you ask for it to bee. Unpretensciou stor fromt whic is good you have to know where it is otherwise you can miss it. I'm not telling

  • Pros: Great food, great service
  • Cons: Long lines

Great food, Great prices, Fast service

by carrienome

Wow! This place is awesome. I have ordered from them (no joke) about 4 times in the past two weeks and gone to eat there once. I am ordering again tonight! The food is really delicious. The spicy noodles and the green curry are addictive. The beef tends to be a little dry sometimes, so i would get the chicken or the shrimp. The prices are so reasonable that my boyfriend and I spent 20 bucks on two entrees and an appetizer. The place is big and loud, but fun. The service is great. They also listen when you ask for something extra spicy! yum.

  • Pros: delicious food, great price
  • Cons: beef is a little dry--but just a little. get the chicken or shrimp

Great food for great value

by felivis

The food was really good and for a reasonable price. It's a much bigger restaurant than its sister restaurant in Cobble Hill so its not as loud and crazy feeling.

  • Pros: great food
  • Cons: can get loud with the kitchen exposed
