Good food

all foods are very good and creative yet stay with original Japanese food. Service is very good and price is reasonable. I can relax there and have a good time with my friends and boyfriend. I definitely go back there!

Service Fantastic. Food experimental at best.

by tokeloke

Cute place.

2 worst mojitos, EVER. Indescribable.

Edamame tasted like pop corn. Was perhaps buttered. The second bowl for throwing away the peels still had old food bits in it. Bad sign.

Extremely sweet service. Couldn't make ourselves tell them the food absolutely sucked. Which is maybe why we got:

"Japanese curry" which was essentially bland, chewy stew splashed on some rice.

Bozu style sushi, which means it had none of the essentials (ginger - soy sauce was pre-wasabified, which I actually kinda liked). Personally sort-of liked the sushi, but we found the use of long grain rice a bit, uhm, surprising. Most puffy rolls we've ever experienced. At least it was fresh.

Bozu Salad tasted exactly like Armani Eau De Toilette smelled in the 80's. Somewhat disturbing.

Was one of these places where you just can't wait to get out. It was just all wrong - but I completely disagree that the service was bad.. I felt a bit bad for the service staff in fact, that is, until I saw the check.

  • Pros: Cute place, sweet service
  • Cons: Worst drinks, semi-crappy food

too bad your service bites Bozu

by jackaldog

it's friday and almost midnight. my bf and i go to bozu to eat. we live in williamsburg/greenpoint, so it was with some trepidation we ventured out on a friday in our own 'hood, but we were hungry and wanted to try Bozu as it was recommended to us. "Two"...."we cant seat you inside"....."what about that four-top over there"....."No it's friday night"...."huh? the street's empty, nobody's coming"

"No (with annoying smile)...... what? "Ok, later lady...."

Note to Bamboozle: give up a table for two paying customers at midnight....if a four party comes in, put them outside, or at the table that would have opened by the time they MAYBE came in. seriously, you just lost a local customer and ANYONE i will tell about your restaurant. I wouldnt really care if it werent for the smarmy sh^t eating grin you served it to me with. Welcome to MY neighborhood, now please leave with the rest of the clowns who've invaded with you.....

  • Pros: food? who knows
  • Cons: getting past the mad clowns at the door

Very Williamburg

by prettyinpuma

I went here about a month ago, and thought it seemed cool at first, but it was just ok. Their sushi bombs were interesting, but it seemed like they were just trying too hard to differentiate themselves from the surrounding Asian restaurants. I will admit that their normal sushi was very good and their hamburg steak was savory, but it was basically a small, spicy hamburger. The main downside was that the parties sitting on either side of us were the typical ultra-hipster people who thought they were very intellectual, but were not. It seemed from looking around that most of the people there were the same way. The best thing about this place was that it helped us find this awesome bar on the corner, which I believe was just called "The Bar".

  • Pros: Good sushi
  • Cons: Weird people, bad food aside from the sushi

Great dishes, service & cocktails. Will go back for sure. Tuna tar tar was amazing. Nice to eat this genre of food as tapas -- makes for a unique dining experience. Ambiance fabulous.

  • Pros: food, ambiance, service, background music
  • Cons: prices can add up

yum yum yum

by spoks

early dinner is the way to go. you can not go wrong on service and it is not too busy. the specials are always a must try (last time was toro bomb), the smoked oyster was tender and tasty, the rolls are made in such a way you can taste all ingredients since they dont use too much rice and the bombs are yum and fun. Bozu should bring back the wasabi panacotta. it was to die for! do not go here if you are looking for large portions.

  • Pros: food, presentation, specials, ambiance
  • Cons: parking on weekends

Great drinks, tasty food, service needs improvement

by rsmaltz

I was very satisfied with the tapas at Bozu. Portion sizes were larger than expected and I found 2 plates to be quite satisfactory. The vodka infusion drinks are wonderfully tasty and refreshing however, sip slowly as they do catch up with you an hour later. I highly recommend the Pork Betty and Shrimp Kataifi.

The service could stand some improvement. After reading the reviews posted here I decided to sit at the bar rather than be seated at a table. The young women at the bar were completely indifferent or busy chatting away in Japanese. I had no idea who my waitress was and ended being waited on by a courteous Japanese gentleman who may have been one of the owners or the manager. I will go back again as I really enjoyed the food. Many places have off nights, and new establishments normally go through waitstaff readily. Let's hope they read these reviews.

  • Pros: Very relaxed, nice music, delicious food
  • Cons: the waitresses

How unfortunate that the service is so horrible.

by hou

I used to go here with my girlfriend. Then we tried to take our friends from out of town one night and were told point blank "we can not seat you." No explanation. We asked if we could come back later, to which the answer was "we can not seat you." Seriously! I know this sounds strange, but it is true and was one of the most shocking experiences of my life. Even though I am used to bad service in Williamsburg, this was too much to stomach and so I now boycot this place. In fact, the sole reason I opened an account on citysearch is to alert you that this restaurant can have horrible service. Caveat: I have to admit that when the service is good (and we have previously had good service at Bozu) the experience is quite nice. After all, the restaurant is charming and the food is tasty. But I personally will avoid going back at all cost.

  • Pros: Decent food, great ambience
  • Cons: Can get pricey if you like to eat, and service is inconsistent at best, and downright rude and nasty on at least one occassion

Horrible service and mediocre food

by debby_w2006

I had the worst experience ever! The waitress came to take our order and I asked if there were any rolls with crab in them and she said no. In disbelief because I was eating at a sushi restaurant I asked again and she said "No, we do not have any crab." We thought this was a little wierd, but okay we ordered some other rolls instead. About 10 minutes later we hear out waitress telling the table next to us the specials...one of which is a KING CRAB ROLL! At this point we are a little perplexed so we ask a different waitress if there are any specials and if so is there a crab roll. She says yes and we tell her that our waitress failed to tell us the specials and that we had asked her directly if there were any crab rolls. She laughed and said that our waitress was confused. I then told her that we had already ordered and recieved some other rolls, but what we really wanted was the special thinking that she would take back the food that was just delivered to us (no, we hadn't eaten any yet) and give us the special. However, she ignored our obvious request and asked if we wanted to order the special in addition that what we aleady ordered. Well, I wasn't about to pay for more food than we could eat just because our idiot watress forgot that they did in fact have crab in the restaurant. So, with an obvious attitude, I asked for the check. No one even aplogized. I'm sorry, even if the food was good, (it wasn't horrible, but definaltly not that great) it can't make up for an experience like that!

  • Pros: interesting interior
  • Cons: bad service, terrible variety, food mediocre
