cafe regular has the hands down best cappucino i've had in new york. well actually, ever. best espresso, best coffee, even best rolls! everything is delicious and the atmosphere of the tiny cafe is authentic and charming in a "here's to paris in the 1920's" kind of way. if you live anywhere in park slope, definitely worth the walk!

Completely agree with the first post. There's a (handsome!) guy at this cafe who makes, really, the best espresso I've had in the city--as good, if not better, than 9th St. Espresso. But, there are some other baristas who are just ok. But you can't really go wrong with a brewed coffee here-- that's always pretty good. The atmosphere is quite charming-- you can't help but feel chic when sipping on a latte at this cafe--but sometimes the seats are over-run with lame lap-toppers and/or lesbian moms and their test-tube babies. BUT! And this is brilliant! More than once I've been there and a customer actually asked the parent of a wild kid to please calm the toddler down! This is what we restaurant patrons, particularly in Park Slope, need to start doing! And for the most part it seems like Cafe Regular's customers enjoy their coffee experience enough that they're willing to stand up to the area's parents' overwhelming sense of entitlement!
Pros: charming,good espresso, interesting staff and customers
Cons: sometimes loud children

The space is very Euro and quite charming, quaint, cute, cozy! To bad this city is to intent on laptops and to-go cups. If this place wants to be a Paris inspired cafe it should only have to-stay service and no stupid laptops. I'm sick of people using cafe's as their offices. This cafe should discourage such behavior. Where is the conversation and desire to have a great coffee? Especially in the Slope! Their coffee is sometimes wonderful sometimes bland. Not very consistant. Sometimes a latte is beutifully presented and tastes perfect without any sugar, other times it is to hot and you can't taste the espresso. Depends on who makes it. A few of the daytime gentlemen are superb. They are your best bet for a great coffee in the hood. I wish they had beer and wine.
Pros: space cute, cheap espresso, friendly funny
