We love this place and visit it on a fairly regular basis. The atmosphere is wonderful, the wine list extensive, and the food is fantastic. We also love the staff as they have always been friendly and helpful. The owner is often on hand to make sure everything is taken care of. A really great neighborhood spot!

I was in Belleville 3 or 4 times before, always on winter. This is the first time I went to Belleville and the front is open. No doubt this is one of the most beautiful and charming places in Brooklyn. We got a table right on the corner on the front. The food it was amazing I got the roasted pork with the blackberry sauce, to die for, and my boyfriend got the Filet Mignon d’ Agneau with a bottle of excellent and affordable Cahors. The services was great and very friendly. We will be back for brunch.
Pros: Food, Service, Price

Hello? Hello? Is there anybody here? We were not greeted, not seated, not even looked at for a good 5 minutes. Service stinks, and the food was mediocre at best. NEVER go back!
Cons: rude service, crappy food,

This place has gone waaaay downhill in what seems like just 6 months. I’ve been there about 5 times over the past year and the last two times the service was hideous and the food was below average. There are many new members of the wait staff and they're just not being trained properly. I knew something was wrong when my companion and I waited and waited by the door to be acknowledged. The restaurant was not that full and the rush of super cold air blasting in when we opened the door should have been a clue that new customers have arrived. It wasn’t for this staff. The wait for the food was way too long given the early hour. When it arrived we found out why; it had apparently been sitting in the kitchen somewhere. The sauces had slightly congealed on the plate. The food was room temperature and bland. My steak was hidden under a pile of cold onions that have never appeared on my plate in the past. (I’ve had this dish a few times here) The too heavy sauce was obviously meant to conceal the pedestrian nature of the food. The cold fries were mushy and not really edible, but they did cover more then half the plate. It took us a while to shake off the horrible experience, a few beers helped, but we decided that was the last chance they get. It’s simply not worth the costs to risk another horrible meal in what was once an acceptable restaurant. Avoid this place! Don’t live with regret!
Pros: It's Close
Cons: It's Too Close!!!

I had the lobster ravioli as an appetizer. The pasta was tough. The filling and sauce were cold. I ordered the sirloin steak. It was 23.00 and the steak was as small as a thumbnail. The service was awful. Noone asked how my meal was and they took their time bringing out the food. DO NOT WASTE UR TIME OR MONEY HERE!
Pros: NONE
Cons: EXPENSIVE, BAD FOOD, POOR SERVICE.

A Friend of mine took me to Belleville, for dinner. It was my first time at the restaurant for me and honestly I was surprise how beautiful and charming the place is. The service was fast and the food was great. I had a pan seared Branzini, I really enjoyed my dish, the portion it can be a little bigger for the price, but it was supreme. For desert the waiter recommended us the Chocolate moose that it was also great. I will be back for sure.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, decoration
Cons: Small portions

I wanted to surprise my husband for this b-day so I took him at this place... I made a reservation by phone and when we got there it took the hostess ' the manager' almost 20 minutes to give us a table... But keep in mind that they were nobody waiting for a table except us and that the restaurant wasn't even busy. Anyhow, I didn't want to say anything because again it was supposed to be a special day for my husband. we sat and we ordered... After 40 minutes of waiting for our food, I asked the manager what was taking so long, and she responded that is was coming, in fact the waiter brought us our COLD food... I was so upset and decided to have a chat with the manager who was not helpful or apologitic at all. my husband and I decided to cancel our meal and we went to another place... Be aware of this RUDE french people.
Pros: None
Cons: Too much to list them

Belleville is awesome. Yes, the service is a bit spotty, but here's why I don't care: 1. The food is amazing. Better than almost any place I've been. WAY better than the Four Seasons. 2. Reasonable prices. Of course it isn't cheap, but it isn't bad either. And I think one of the ways they do that is by not allowing credit cards. Credit card companies charge businesses money if the businesses want their cusomers to be able to use credit cards. Sounds crazy but it's true. And Amex is less expensive for businesses than Visa or Mastercard. So yes, it's a pain they don't take anything but Amex, but the food would cost more if they did. 3. The atmosphere/design of the restaurant. Simply beautiful. Everything from the bathrooms to the floor to the lighting is perfect. Also, you don't have to dress up at all, yet it's a nice restaurant. If you are the kind of person who demands excellent service, you probably won't like it here. I personally don't mind subpar service if the food is worth it. And man, is the food at Belleville worth it! I recommend everything, but the pork fillet, the scallops, and the steaks are truly inspired.
Pros: food, atmosphere, prices, wine list
Cons: slightly subpar service at times

Stopped in for a bite this weekend. We were seated promptly. The order was pretty simple two burgers and a cheese plate. The chesses were great. Although it felt a bit skimpy I would have rather paid a few dollars more for a bit bigger pieces. The burgers were good, although my dates was rare... very rare... instead of med rare. She sent back came returned good. The bun on the burger TOO big. Honestly three bites before I reached meat. The service was a bit slow took about 7-10 minutes from the time I finished my first beer for the waitress to come around to order another. All in all enjoyable, but what bothered me was at the end of the meal I found out they only take AM-EX. They have an ATM, I don't know if they charge a fee since it was out of order, so I had to run to the deli across the street. It's 2006 the era of convinence, were you can pay for stuff in a million different ways. Move out of the dark ages of the 80's.
Pros: Good cheese
Cons: AmEx only

Sunday morning and the restaurant was not very busy, the food was good good, atmosphere was delightful but the coffee was cold, every time they filled it up. On a Sunday morning the most important thing is coffee. Look forward to trying again maybe for dinner.
Pros: Nice menu
Cons: Cold Coffee
