Would be so much better if the Bartender had a memory

by KKFitz

I went to Nana's and sat at the bar to enjoy the $3.00 bar menu. The food was good; however the Bartender kept forgetting what we ordered. She would place our food down and then a while later come back and say "Oh who brought you that food". We ordered Scallion Pancakes which I believe she forgot we ordered them. We asked four different times and 45 mins later they finally came, she said they were on the house which was nice but then we realized how burnt they were. The cocktail for the nigt were Mai Tais. I ordered one and it was not good. Not sure if it was the drink or the bartender making it. I may go back but if I see her at the bar I would definitely just sit at a table regardless of the specials.

  • Pros: Cheap Food
  • Cons: Bartender with Amnesia, Mai Tai

So-so food, surprisingly noisy

by anonymouscs

Food is passable, but nothing special. Remember that "best sushi in Park Slope" is like saying "best burger in Mumbai" -- what's the competition, and around at who's eating there?! While that's no surprise, what is surprising is how loud their dinner DJ plays his Hotel Costes CD. So loud that we couldn't hear each other over the table and gave up on talking. When we complained, they turned it down... until our food came. Having locked us in, they cranked it right back up again. Frankly, Hotel Costes sounds better in my apt.

Good food, BAD Service

by borp

The food has always been great. There is a wide variety of options, which is nice if you aren't sure what exactly you are in the mood to eat. But the service is pretty bad. I've been there a number of times, and 4 out of 5 times the service is incredibly slow. Our waitstaff would disappear, there were limited to no water refills and once I saw my food waiting for pickup from the kitchen and the waitstaff weren't paying any attention. It is too bad, because the food is too good to get cold.

  • Pros: Food is reasonably priced and tasty
  • Cons: BAD SERVICE!

Worth the trip!

by sweetiepie13

I've been to more than my share of sushi joints and I must say that I was not disappointed with this one. Our waitress was extremely friendly, the food was delicious, the ambiance was very nice, and the manager was very personable. We ate til our stomachs almost burst and drank enough sake until our bladders almost popped all for a very reasonable price.

  • Pros: food, service
  • Cons: music too loud

Something Different, Just What You're Looking For

by foodiebee

Great place to take friends... Plenty of space indoors, along with an intimate bar. Live DJ creates the perfect ambiance while you dine in a pleasent garden. Menu offers creative dishes fusing Thai, Malaysian, Japanese, Vietnamese and even Mexican cuisine.

The drink menu offers a taste of beers from around the world along with a satisfactory selection of saki and appetizing special drinks. Incredible service.

Every person from bartender to host to each server that is working that evening is friendly, always with a smile on their face and ready to help you with whatever it is your heart may desire.

There are plenty of opportunities to find a parking spot on the many neighborhood streets nearby. The worse that can happen is you snag a spot a few streets away and you have a nice walk in an exciting neighborhood.

  • Pros: Ambience, Selection, Creative
  • Cons: Because their is an offering of so many different cuisines, this is not the place to go for the best quality of one particular cuisine

Yuppie diaper change

by lydgate

Yuppie mom changed her burgeoning Rhodes Scholar?s diaper (or her Rhodes Scholar?s burgeoning diaper) in the public back yard of this place not 10 feet from the table where we were having our drinks, while her 2 other toddlers frolicked and screamed in the fountain. Needless to say, we will not be returning any time soon.

cheap, fast, open late, will deliver anywhere

by unosaku

NANA serves asian junk food and not-so-fresh sushi.

many of their appetizers are pre-cooked frozen food(i saw frozen wonton, edamame, empty boxes of mini spring rolls and etc behind the kitchen)

the food is not bad, but the taste is not consistent.

everytime i go there i order the same thing, but it tastes so different each time.

they don't take credit cards, but they state that on the front door and on the menu in tiny letters.

when i was eating dinner there one night, i saw some guy yelling at a waitress because he only had credit cards.

there are quite a few restaurants in nyc that don't take credit cards,

and there're many many ATM machines on the streets... i don't think it's a big deal, is it?

music is annoying. if that's for covering up the noise from the open kitchen and kids, they're just making it worse.

service is not bad. they move pretty fast carrying such heavy dishes.

i also noticed many workers are very friendly with kids.

NANA is a perfect place for families with young children(no babies!). the music will wake them up.

if you go early, it's quiet and nice.

their lunch is also super cheap and not bad at all for the price.

  • Pros: price and service
  • Cons: no parking space, not so close to subway

Beware -cash only

by playgirl74

Had dinner here last weekend. We were presented with the bill and as I pulled out my credit card a waitress passing by remarked, "Cash Only." This has to be one of the only places not to accept credit cards in the Slope. Even worse, this was not posted ANYWHERE - not on the door, not on the menu, nowhere. A perfectly nice dinner was ruined because I had to go sprinting down 5th Ave. in search of an ATM (the one the waitress told me to go to was out of order). The only reason I can think of for a restaurant to be cash only is that some under the table accounting is going on. Skip this - there are equally good places for sushi around Brooklyn, with nicer gardens and no annoying techno DJs.
