I just had the Milbon treatment at Midoma and it's an amazing new addition to their already great salon! My hair feels like silk....literally!! it's amazing. Michael Shwarzer is a true artist and hair designer. Midoma is one of my favorite places on the planet. Midoma is the perfect mix of new, cutting-edge, fashion forward salon without the irritating qualities of the uptight Madison Avenue salon or downtown too-fabulous-for-any-human-being salons. I just love going there.

How do you like to be treated? If you prefer professionalism, style, attentiveness and exceptional service, then treat yourself to a visit to Midoma. From the minute you walk in, you are welcomed by a friendly staff who can't seem to do enough to make you feel comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxed and the salon is like a retreat away from the hectic noise and commotion of New York City. What really matters the most is that you get a great stylish haircut from some of new York's top stylists. Everyone worries when they change salons or have a new person "touch" their hair. I had the pleasure of having my hair styled by Kao. He was very attentive and wanted to know exactly what i wanted him to do. Not only was the cut fantastic, but the washing and "head massaging" was worth the trip from the Upper West Side all the way to First Avenue and 75th. Kao is a talented professional who is caring, friendly and works his craft like an artist. I will go back to Midoma and will ask for Kao. You should do the same.
Pros: Kao's talent
Cons: Should have gone to Midoma sooner!

I’ve been in NYC for 2 years now; within those 2 years I would have to say I’ve visited a dozen salons before settling with Midoma. I’m very hard to empress when it comes to hair. But, with a cool, calm, collected and professional staff, didn’t feel like I was going to be sprayed with AuqaNet and have a hair- do as high as the Empire State building- FYI the mohawk is out! I was shocked when Kao, my stylist, finished cutting my hair; it was what I had envisioned/requested- the stuff you see in the magazines. Not that I was ever going to be a model, but at least I could feel like one. Hands down, I recommend Midoma to anyone who wants to look like they live in NYC and not the 80’s (Halloween exception)! Every time I go, I take a friend, for encouragement purposes only. . .
Pros: No lies from staff that your new hair cut is "fierce" when it’s really not!
Cons: None

I was referred to MIDOMA hair salon by a friend. my hairstylist was Kao. He was excellent! loved him. He was very patient with my hair, and made sure that the style and length were what I wanted exactly. After the haircut, i was totally in love with my new hair style. He even styled my hair for me with curls at the end, I went out after the haircut and my friends loved it after seeing my new haircut. The Salon itself was an art gallery too, I thought that was pretty cool and different. I highly recommend Kao at MIDOMA salon =)

What an amazing experience, the treatment at Midoma is excellent. The high quality of service and absolute attention to detail transforms the hair experience into an individual spa like event. I had my hair colored by Yuki, who gave me the best blonde highlights I have ever had. I am extremely picky and have tried so many hair colorists and products in the tri-state area. I am so thrilled with the gorgeous hair that I left the salon with, I have been flipping my hair ever since, Thanks to Yuki who transformed my dull, lifeless multicolored hair into a radient shining mane. The color is so perfect it is the exact shade of blonde, since the color I have received so many compliments,. Thanks Yuki, I just hope I don't hurt my neck flipping my gorgeous hair around all the time!

I call Midoma "my escape from reality" not only do you experience an an amazing makeover but spa like atmosphere. Yuki, my hair colorist, always creates the exact color that I'm looking for. I always leave her extremely sadisfied. Michael, my stylist, is spectacular!! can't say enough. I enjoy changing my look throughout the years and I have to say I have never been disappointed. Some of my cuts have been inspired by Sharon Stone, Halley Barry, Meg Ryan, and now Victoria Beckhan, aka Posh Spice. This upper east side Salon is a Gem! A hidden treasure that I reccomend everyone must experience at least once......and trust me... You'll never have to go to Madison ave. salon to look like a princess!

When I started going to college, I stopped getting haircuts because whenever I did, it was NEVER a good experience. I felt like hairdressers never REALLY listen to you and what you want your hair to look like. You tell them not too short, and they alwahys cut it too short, or they will layer it and u didnt ask for that. It was always something and I have tried SO MANY places. I am obsessed with my hair. It is thick and sooo long, almost down to my but. I am also very particular about how it looks, and it always has to look perfect. If I straighten it and there is one ridge, it has to be fixed. So my best freind, who knows that I am like this, reccommended Midoma to me. I said, "you know how I am about my hair, are you sure?" and she said yes. I needed a change so I made an appointment and went. It is also an art gallery, so when you walk in, there is a lot to look at. It is a very comfortable relaxing atmosphere. It is very modern, which is good because you know they will be up to date with trends and current styles. I was immediately greeted by everyone there and immediately felt so comfortable, when I feel like most hair salons are very intimidating. I was offered coffee, tea, water. So the hairdresser does everything for you, from washing your hair to the cut and the st\yle. Start to finish they are there with you, and they LISTEN to what you want and carry it out to a T. They treat your hair as if it were a work of art. I had the best haircut I have ever had in my entire life. I finally found a hairdresser that is just as obsessed with my hair as I am! I am in love with Midoma and will never ever get my hair cut anywhere else. I got soooo many compliments on my hair when I went out that night. I reccommended Midoma to all of my friends and they all go there now and they all are obsessed with it there. You will not be dissapointed!
Pros: amazing haircuts, and amazing styling. great comfortable friendly atmosphere.
Cons: i have no complaints

Ever since I wandered in about 10 years ago, despondent about the sad state of my hair, Midoma is the only salon I use for color & cut. Marielena, the colorist, is just wonderful, always taking the time to consult, never rushed. Michael, the owner, gives the best haircut! You're always taken on time, and the atmosphere is so cool & relaxing, sort of Soho-ish, but a lot calmer, with great music and interesting artwork (which changes 4 times a year) on the wall. Marianna, Michael's wife, manages the salon with poise and charm, and you feel welcome the minute you step inside. If you're interested in jewelry, there's beautiful (& affordable) pieces by different artist for sale. And the complimentary tea which is offered (lots of flavors) is a nice touch. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Pros: Color & cut, ambience, music, sound system, service
Cons: none

I'm the type of person who is always looking for something that works better--a better haircare product, better makeup, and a better colorist. My search for the latter when I found Marilena at Midoma. The miracles she has worked on my damaged hair for the past nearly two years has left it healthier and how I've envisioned my color could be--frankly, now I'm addicted! Marilena gives 150% to everything she does--the care and attention she takes with my hair and her *sincere* and genuine concern with both my hair's health and my personal wellbeing leaves me completely trusting every move she makes with my color. And with good reason: her work is outstanding. Marilena pays extraordinary attention to detail and has remarkable intuition that would serve her in many professions...her clients are lucky she has chosen to be a dedicated, caring, and exceptionally trained colorist. The salon overall is warm and comfortable, with beautiful artwork, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. Marianna, the co-owner, goes above and beyond to make sure clients are taken care of...if you live nearby the upper east side salon, you are fortunate, and if you don't, it's well worth the trip!
