I have been getting hair cuts from Cristiano for 4 years, never been disappointed. Cristiano treated each hair cut as scapturing art. He took his time making sure the entire hair cut is perfect. His hair cuts always look stylish and nature. His hair cuts are also practical, very easy to maintain at home, I don't need to use any hair products to hold the shape. I always get great compliments for my hair cuts at work & sometimes on the streets. Cristiano's creativities seem unlimited, whenever I feel like to have a make over, I just need to tell him, he always came up with something amazing.
Pros: great value on the hair cuts
Cons: Ambience

Steven is a great professional. Fast and quality work. Very nice guy. The salon has reasonable prices for Manhattan. I paid $125 plus tip for half head highlights and lowlights together. Blowdry is free with any service. I tried many colorists and he is one of the best. Very recommended.
Pros: Haircut is expensive
Cons: Great color service, reasonable prices

rumor is by far one of the best salons in new york. you can have a very trendy white-blonde rocker cut or soft waves and long layers. shifa works with you peice by peice of hair, completely open to your thoughts. she cuts slowly and never too much. i have very thick hair, and ive never liked it down till she cut it. now, its light and flowing. Steven gave me the perfect hue of blonde and even suggested lightening my eyebrows(for free!). with there work i have never felt more beautiful. be warned: if you like you hair straight, brown, natural, or work-free, rumor is not your salon. these cuts and colors are for girls who want there hair to stand out and make a statement. its about experimentation and playfulness! yes, it is expensive, but everywhere in manhattan is! this is actually one of the better ones. but be prepared to drop $250-300 (tip included)for highlights and a cut. they do try and be nice to students. i was not given tip evelopes and i was given 20% off my color when i brought in a post card located outside the door on the street. so if your a first timer, you can save a bit if you bring one of those in!
Pros: beautiful work all-around!
Cons: price

I've been going to Su for 3 years and she is the best stylist I've ever had. Upon moving to NYC I went through many cheap & expensive bad haircuts until I found her. Now I've moved to SF. After getting a really bad cut from a "top" SF salon, I've just decided that I'll fly back every 6 months to see her. Su has seen me through super short to shoulder length and back to short again. Even when I was growing my hair out, it didn't seem like it because she was able to give me style at every stage along the way. Su really pays attention to how your hair grows, cutting it so that cowlicks, etc., aren't an issue. And she also really shapes the cut to your features. Besides telling her what general length I'm going for, I let her do what she wants. I always come away w/ an edgy, modern, yet soft and pretty cut. (I know those may sound like contradicting descriptions, but she does it!) She is amazing and she is the thing I miss most about NYC! Shifa is also great. She cut my hubby's hair for years and did my hair for our wedding. If a guy will pay $100 for a haircut, you know it's gotta be good! (Also, she gives free mid-cycle clean ups.) Some may say Rumor is expensive, but at least you are getting what you paid for. I've been to Bumble+Bumble, Fekkai, etc., and paid a fortune for uninspired cuts. Su and Shifa both really take their time to make sure your hair will look great every day - not just the day you walk out of the salon. You should give Su a try especially if you have short girl hair. I've had too many short hair cuts that make you look like a midwest housewife, a little girl, a mid-90's clud kid. Su will make you look grown up and fabulous!

Trusting Citisearch reviews I went for a hair cut which costed me $95 and all I got was one inch cut of the same exact style i had before. No suggestions were given nor comments whatsoever of doing something different. All I got was: " how much would you like me to cut?" ...weird. I am going back to my hairdresser. For $20 bucks I get the same cut.
Pros: nice website
Cons: expensive

I'm always very very happy w/ Tanya's work on my highlights - she's friendly and chatty, but also utterly professional and highly skilled - I completely trust her w/ my hair. I've never had to wait - they are always on time, even when I make a last-minute appt.
Pros: Consistent quality, Low key atmosphere, reasonable for NYC

I have been going to Rumor for 2 years now and would never go anywhere else. Tanya always does a great job with my full head of highlights and Shifa is the best stylist I have ever had. Thanks Rumor!
Pros: Talented Stylists, Service, Atmosphere

Rosemarie's great w/ color. I had my hair color in other salons and I could add that she tops the rest. As for haircut....stylist cutted too short, but it looked nice.
Pros: Everything

RoseMarie is the best colorist in the city! She always listens to what you want, then adds her expertise, and makes my highlights look so natural. For the time and consideration that she takes for every client, the price is always reasonable. I always walk out happy and looking great, this is why I have been going to Rumor for approx. 3 years, and i will continue to go for many more.
Pros: professional, colorists great, relaxing, not stuffy

The stylist convinced me to cut off 3 inches...she said she really wanted to give me that look. I trusted her judgement since she does this for a living. She gave me a multi-layered TOO TRENDY haircut. It was BLUNT against my face and it was a harsh look. It practically detracted you from the face. Yes the cuts are "precise" and they "fall into the same place" to this day but WHY did I spend $95 on some crazy helmet haircut. After it finally started to grow out, my friends told me it looked like a wig because of how solid and cubic it looked on my head. I work near Rumor and my coworkers went when they first heard the positive reviews but they experienced the same results--sharp cubic hairstyling. If that's your style--urban, edgy, rebellious and a little grungy--go for it.
Pros: precise, kind, small setting
Cons: , $95, style is too rigid
