what a hot space!
by tapedeckrevival at Citysearch
i have been going to boogaloo since they opened 4 years ago. The bar is still packed though. they are redecorating and making the bar warmer than ever with deep warm reds, and comic book murals (ala rodney ramos, creator of x-men, green lantern, and they sport trans-metropolitan on their wall). i don't know how they do it, in such a non-club location, they fill the gap that southside williamsburg has been lacking in for so long. the bartenders are super super dope, and hot to boot. drink prices are VERYreasonable ($5 beer to $8 nice name-brand cocktail)
it is worth the hop skip and jump from manhatten, go check it out
- Pros: music, atmosphere, staff
Neighborhood lounge bridges north and south Williamsburg in style.

In Short
Close to the J, M, Z, neighbors from all sides of the tracks stop in for this Williamsburg bar's house cocktails and soothing atmosphere. Rich lighting, cushioned group seating, sleek shades of gray and shimmery down-tempo music make for good conversation. Specialty drinks are named for local theaters, past and present--owner Chance Johnston's Commodore is a margarita made with guava juice. A ladder in the corner of the back room leads to an outdoor deck.
Amazing

I'd been hearing about a place called Boogaloo in Williamsburg for a long time before I finally had a look for myself. Now I can't believe I waited so long! This bar has everything that is essential for a perfect night out. I walked in off the rough Brooklyn streets and was instantly blown away by the atmosphere inside. Dark lighting with a subtle glow on the bar and tables. Beautiful design. Beautiful waitstaff!! The lovelies behind the bar greeted me quickly and sold me my first very affordable drink. My first of many affordable drinks... The crowd was lively and mixed. Very open and friendly. Very attractive. There was constant dancing in the backroom. Brilliant DJ. People were chilling out and talking at the bar and on benches. I was told about an outdoor deck that I'll come back to see for sure. The party seemed to last forever...
- Pros: 1/2 blk from J train, Inexpensive, Good crowd

GREAT PARTY!

checked out this southside place- at first i thought it would be hard to get to- but actually its really really close to the city- really easy on the J train- and my friends met me there in a cab that took no time from the lower east side... which was a pleasant surprise...
they had these amazing djs spinning alongside of a bongo player, a guitarist- and an amazing sax player... very cool- like a jam session- plus the cover was so cheap! only 2 bucks... for a great night out-- danced the whole time and spent time out on the very cool roofdeck-- its hard to find such non-pretentious fun in nyc- so when you find it- you gotta go back. plus the drinks were well made and affordable too.
- Pros: cool space, great people, great music
The ONLY place to go...!

As soon as you walk in to this place, you are immediately aware that you have entered into a space that has the ability to transform your mood and relax your mind. Its a great place to bring friends and lose yourself in great music played by top shelf DJs from all over (theres always somethin good happenin on the tables). Its clear that a lotta love and care has been put into boogaloo in every detail- from the quality reasonable drinks to the sexy-smooth bar that has to be touched in person to appreciate. Love it!
- Pros: tasty drinks, chill atmosphere, great owners!
great secret hideout!

okay, so i hate their bar chairs, BUT... the bartenders are fantastic - great service, drinks mixed right, and great company if you need it, and they have a lot of great dj's spinning all sorts of stuff. and although when you first walk in the design screams 'hipster bar', they designed and built it all themselves... they've also put a a lot of effort into being an unobtrusive, welcoming establishment in what is predominantly a spanish neighborhood - not only do the locals pop in, they dj, too. if you're lucky, someone will get a little dance floor started in the back, or you'll get a taste of one of the bartender's special collection bottles.
- Pros: great prices/happy hr, off-center locale, supports local peeps
- Cons: ugh, these chairs!
Most Economical diversity
by candydulce at Citysearch
This has been the most economical bar my husband and I have been too. If you like to meet people from distictive cultures and background this is the place to go. Sometimes on Saturdays is less then $10 to get in and to see a live band. One time a live band playing the Columbian South and Central American traditional music of "Ballenato". It is exciting to be in Boogaloo if you have not much to spend and just want to grab a drink and converse.
