I lost my pet

I was there the night the bartender who always smiles alot was working. I put my pet waterbug on the bar to give him a little drink and he hopped over the bar and scurried away. I have not seen him since.

A real disappointment.

Dropped by on the night of August 16, 2008 after watching "Tropic Thunder" at the UA Court Street. What a let down from other reviews I've read elsewhere. It was a tiny space, with an awkward layout and very uncomfortable wooden lounge seating. On the night we were there, there was a general lack of decent seating altogether. The bar is understaffed/overworked and the only bartender that night was frazzled; warm and gracious at first, but then pushy about a tip for one bottle of beer and one glass of Cabernet. Ruined the mood of the evening. We finished our drinks and gladly moved on to one of the other numerous bars on Atlantic Avenue.

Food/Beer Festivals

I love going to the Brazen Head. Every time I have been there - I've had a GREAT time. I love that they constantly have food & beer festivals. Worth checking out for sure!!!!

Great staff, wonderful drinks and great food!

Atmosphere is always pleasant, as is the staff and the owner is a solid, likeable guy with a smile and a warm hello for everyone. Lou's also a great cook and he shares his food with his customers ... chicken wings on a Monday night, assorted fruit, cheese, and crackers on Wednesday. The music is whatever the working staff is currently enjoying, the 3 TV's are usually turned to a sports channel but the place is definietly not a sports bar. Folks come in, chat, sip, read the paper or a book, watch TV, eat and just generally enjoy themselves. There's also a lovely garden in the back. There's an enormous selection of beers on tap, along with cider. There are many many scotch, vodka varieties and there is also a great selection of wines.

Best bar in Brooklyn hands down

Lets start out with this is NOT a sports bar?.Yes you can watch a game with friends on the three tv?s but it?s not a sports bar, no wanabe ball players here!

The place is warm and inviting, the bar tenders are the kind of people you want to have as friends, the hand pulled cask ale?s are the best you can get in the city and always changing a shot glass size taste is yours for the asking.

The crowed is that nice mix of locals, lawyers, law students, working people and just stopping by types. If you want to chat you can find someone, if you want to just sit and down some suds? ($2 PBR?s ) that fine too.

There is a special every night (check the web site), Monday is free wings and not that out of the bag junk you get at most places these are real home made wings, Saturday night is stew with Lou (the owner) for a $5 it?s all you can eat (get there early) you?ll think there is a kitchen here but NO (menu?s from the area if you want to order in) it?s all dun by the Lou at home just for that night.

The place is well maintained if you ever see something that?s not right you wont see it the next time your there, this is not a CBGB?s bathroom.

The Tri-annual cask ale festival is not to be missed 25 cask-conditioned, hand pulled, microbrews over three days is a treat for the taste buds and easy on the wallet.

The back yard garden is great and you can smoke and drink your ale in peace.

There is NO juke box and at first that sound strange but you will be in for a treat it?s all IPOD and CD the staff sets the tone for the place but if your band just cut it?s first CD ask the ?tender to give it a try, thy usually will.

You just cant go wrong with a trip to The Brazen Head

Great late night spot

The Brazen seems to always stay open later than the other bars in the area which is GREAT. That means there's always good beer and fun atmosphere still available when other places are shutting down and kicking people out.

Great Service, Great Atmosphere, Great Food*, and Darts

Yes, the Brazen Head has a great selection of beers on tap and single malt scotch, but that's not why I go there. I go for the ALWAYS ICE COLD $3 bottles of Bud Light. Mmmmm delicious. The service is top notch and *when there is food there, it is delicious. Free wings on Monday and $5 All-you-can-eat Lou's Stew-B-Que Saturdays are not to be missed. When there is no food there, the bar has about 100 menus from local places and is more than happy to let you order in. This isn't a single's bar by any means. It's a bar for people who enjoy drinking. Yes, as other people have mentioned...the crowd is mixed. There are locals, law students, DA's and such so the law crowd can be annoying at times especially if there is a law school function. It can be extremely difficult to make it from the front of the bar to the back on a very busy night. However, 95% of the time, the crowd is at a manageable number. A previous poster put that flying darts are a con. Yes, the dart board is in the back of the bar, but most people that frequent the Brazen Head understand that walking in front of someone getting ready to throw a dart is not only a bad idea, it's rude. If you like low-key local bars with much more of a down-to-earth vibe opposed to a stuffy one, I'd highly recommend checking out Brazen Head.

Wonderful Selection, Taps are CLEAN, Best FREE wings on Mondays, Service better than OK

I've been going to the B'Head since moving into the neighborhood back in November. The beer selection is good. The blackboard even tells you when the keg came on so you can tell what's fresh. There's always a special - a few nights ago it was a Rogue Ale. Getting old but delicious; and at $3.75 a steal. The crowd is mixed - students, locals, lawyers, karaoke wannabes, actor-types, etc. The regualrs are a combination of the same. It's not exactly a swinging singles scene, but the outside garden area attracts vibrant sweet young things when the weather's warm and sunny. Oh, and you can smoke out there, too, if that's your thing.

When the bar is packed it can become unamangeable and the claustrophobic ought to leave, stay away or run outside for mental relief.

Love the poster hanging in the men's room - something about a woman's shoulders.

Bartenders are for the most part a very compelling reason to come. Most remember you, if not your name, then by what you drink or when you come in for one. There has been some turnover in staff since I've become a weekly regular but so it goes in the greater Manhattan bar scene.

If you're in Brooklyn and don't want to venture to Spuyten Duyvil, Mugs or someplace equally out there where you're more likely to get lost and not get a cab, come to the 'Head. You'll be glad you did.

SAVE THE GAP

A bar that taps into Brooklyn's beer obsession.

The Scene
There are a few standard notions of what exactly constitutes a good neighborhood bar. Ideally, it's got a convivial, comfortable air, friendly bartenders, decent drafts and an eclectic jukebox and a couple of bar snacks. Envy the denizens of the Atlantic Avenue area, because the Brazen Head has all that in spades, plus some truly stellar extras.

The Draw
The atmosphere is corner pub updated with Brooklyn small-batch fetishism. Careful touches such as posted keg-change dates and a rotating selection of luscious hand-pulled ales give hops enthusiasts little reason to leave their stools, save for wandering over to tables occasionally laden with Middle Eastern treats. Also worth noting is a solid range of single malts that may leave many Brooklynites wondering why they'd ever again have to board a d.b.a.-bound train.
