Worst Service EVER!!!
by sms22 at Citysearch
I have lived in New York for over 4 years, and have never, ever been treated with the level of disrespect my boyfriend and I received from the waitress and supposed owner of this place. We came in about 15 minutes before closing and asked if they were still serving. They said yes, and before we ordered, we verified that we would have enough time to order food and a beer and not be rushed. The waitress said yes, if we "hurried up and ordered." That should've been our first indicator. We ate the greasy food quickly and before we had even finished, they gave us the bill, which we paid promptly. After the waitress got her money (+ a 20% tip), she told us we had to leave because they were closing up. I had 1/3 of my beer left! It had been less than 30 minutes since we arrived and she was forcefully kicking us out! We told her we had asked before we sat down if we would have time to sit and eat, and her response now was nothing but rude and indignant. Absolutely no respect. The food was definitely not worth the trouble, and this woman's attitude will make us NEVER return. People like that should simply not be in the restaurant business or be allowed to interact with the public.
- Pros: beer
- Cons: terrible, rude, disrespectful service
Amazing what tastes better fried

This is definitely the place to take people from out of town, get them a deep-fried Twix or twice-fried cherry pie. I love the food here. Unfortunately, it's cash only so I never rarely think to go there. Also, I've notice that if I eat a lot of this beer-battered pub-food I'll feel pretty awful for the rest of the day. And I wouldn't say I'm a fried-food light-weight either, I'm from New Orleans and every Wednesday is deep-fried seafood night in my apartment. You got to try this place, just don't make yourself sick!
- Pros: Always unique and memorable experience
- Cons: Cash Only, Not Much Seating
Best fish and chips around-like we are back in the London

Had an very positive experience at the Bay Ridge Restauraunt. Fish batter was crunchy and the fish tasty and fried to perfection. Chips (fries) were moist and well done, the way I like them. Teddy can make you feel right at home. Don't be put off by english humor its part of the experience! Lighten up and enjoy..............
- Pros: authentic
- Cons: parking in bay ridge can be difficult (try below 3rd ave)
Bloody good melt in your mouth fish sandwich
by bkditk22 at Citysearch
I am not drawn to fish sandwiches, but I came in here with my son and ate a great fish sandwich. I stayed away from the fried twinkie, but maybe I will come back. It is worth the trip. The fries (chips) were very good too!
- Pros: Melt in your mouth Fish Sandwich
- Cons: Deep Fried Twinkie?
Disappointed

I'm a Brit and I've wanted to visit this place for a long time now. I finally went tonight. The food is as good as you would get in an average fish and chip place in the UK. Not great but not bad. I was expecting a little better based upon all the hype. What soured the experiece for me was the service. I wondered if the moody waitress was doing it for effect, but no, she was just plain moody. No credit cards was annoying. I handed over $80 for a $62 check, only to get the "do you want change" response. I gather that the place was better in its early days, so I guess I was a few years late. Brits, if you live close by, fair enough, but I wouldn't recomment doing what I did and that's to drive an hour to get what I had hoped to be a better experience.
- Pros: Deserts
- Cons: Service with a scowl
A top gaff. I shall return.

Excellent all around. Good prices and authentic tasty food. A couple of pointers to my American friends: (1) English "chips" are supposed to be moist in the center and even bend in the middle if you were to pick one up and hold it horizontally. And they are delicious. (2) As for fried mars bars and the like, those are a Scottish invention (they fry everything). Not to my taste, but my granny was Scottish so whatever.
- Pros: Great food, good prices, cool toilet
I'm all in

Shepherds Pie with Mac 'n Cheese instead of Mashed Potatoes... Yes. Please.
Also? The dessert menu is proof that anything is better when it has been battered and deep fried. Think more funnel cake than KFC.
- Pros: delicious, fried, beer
- Cons: heart problems, cholesterol
Best fish and chips in the City

It's absolutely worth a trip to Brooklyn from Manhattan for these fish and chips and a pint. Very authentic!
- Pros: Great fish and chips
- Cons: It's a hike if you live in Manhattan
Rude Staff, Indifferent maneagement.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon for a couple pints and some good food. The food was not so great and the service mediocre. Then we were highly insulted by a member of the staff. I will never go back and wouldn't reccomend it for anyone.
- Pros: Semi-good food
- Cons: terrible service and angry staff.
Too many great restaurants in the Slope to waste your time here

We went to Chip Shop with a group of six people hoping to share some relaxed good times and good food. Unfortunately, we were met with a rude hostess who seemed to be having a bad night and was blaming us for it with her attitude. The other staff was fine, but the food was unremarkable. It's not worth ruining your night with bad customer service to brave a fried twinkie or sub-par curry.
