A spectacular view all seasons
by magicloop2009
Boats, ships, and water taxui's pass by. Located right on top of the BQE highway.......... It streches for 6 long blocks. You can see fireworks occasionally and spectuacular sunsets every night. You can see the statue of liberty towards the northwest direstion. The Brooklyn Bridge can be seen in the distance. You can watch cars and taxi's pass by. Perfect for a romantic date, or a walk for the dog, or getting out for fresh air. Clubs, pubs, and Bars are nearby along with resturants and cafe's.
- Pros: Sunsets, lights, skyscrapers, towers, bridges, ships
- Cons: Winter snow causes visibilities for the skyline
The esplanade is one of the most popular spots to get a view of the city skyline.

In Short
While families frequent the three nearby playgrounds during the day, dusk brings out the couples in full force. Joggers, parents with strollers, tourists and proud New Yorkers all share space on benches. Even the fumes from the BQE beneath the promenade seem to fade away against this splendid backdrop. Try not to be jealous: The lucky occupants of the ivy-covered townhouses--author Norman Mailer among them--get to enjoy the view 24 hours a day.
We Love It

My long-time love & I always visit the Promenade after dinner or a movie. It's the perfect place to catch up or just to sit and enjoy the view of the city.
Spectacular

The view of the Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport, Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State & Chryslar Buildings were just spectacular...I wished that the twin towers were still standing...
- Pros: free, great for walking, diverse dining nearby
- Cons: parking
peaceful and pretty

a very nice place to sit on a bench and relax with your sweetheart or walk with a first date, or walk your dog. beautiful houses all around to fantasize about living in. it's most beautiful at sunset because the colors really put on a show against the nyc skyline. traffic that passes by underneath actually has a meditative sound almost. lol. and it's cool to watch them whiz by from such a close distance. close to nice dowtown brooklyn shops and restaurants
- Pros: free, neighboring shops, benches
- Cons: bathroom anyone?
I live here, so stay in your own 'hood!

I like the Promenade so much that I rented an apartment on Columbia Heights with the same view. It's beautiful, it's romantic, it's touching and sad (the empty downtown skyline where the WTC used to be). I'm just kidding about the headline - come and visit, stay a while, enjoy the view. Sunset is by far the most beautiful time.
- Pros: Beautiful, Free, Romantic
- Cons: No restrooms, Crowded sometimes

Best Spot in NY
by bbegarly
I visited NY for the first time this past month and stayed at some friend's apartment in Brooklyn Heights. The first night there I watched the sunset over the city from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. I fell in love with this place immediately! At the end of the trip, this ended up being my favorite spot in NY. Definately a must see for all visitors!
- Pros: Clean, Romantic, Relaxing
- Cons: None
Don't Miss This

If I had to pick one "non Manhattan" place to visit, this is it. Beauty that surpasses Central Park, incredible views of the city and the Statue of Liberty. Peace and serenity in the city!
- Pros: Views, Serenity, Surrounding buildings
