“We came to see the "Who Shot Rock & Roll" Photography Exhibit which was amazing and really dipicted a great deal of Rock and Roll History but we were amazed at the other wings and pieces of art from all over the world.”

Great Rainy Day Enjoyment.
The Brooklyn Museum of Art is nothing short of the way most New Yorkers shpould spent a Sunday Afternoon. My girlfriend and I happened to attend on a day when it was a huge rainstorm which made it alittle crowded but it was certainly worth the wait on line for tickets.
We came to see the "Who Shot Rock & Roll" Photography Exhibit which was amazing and really dipicted a great deal of Rock and Roll History but we were amazed at the other wings and pieces of art from all over the world. We were there about 3 hours total but could have easily spent a few more hours if it wasn't for a busy Monday the next day! This Museum has all the Bells & Whistles of MOMA and The MET in my opinion!
What a sight for Spring. The Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Museum was one of the most sublime displays I've seen. Celebrating Japanese poetry and philosophy, the festival delivers demonstrations from Martial Arts masters, poets, and artists as well as hundreds of cherry trees in full blossom.
The second-largest art collection in the United States is housed in a majestic old building with a modern touch..
The Scene
Unveiled in 2004, the renovated, glass-encased front entrance gives this beaux-arts structure a decidedly modern gloss. Beyond the foyer, a number of the exhibition spaces can be quite cavernous, and like the Met (its sole competitor in terms of size), this institution's five labyrinthine floors would take much more than a day to explore. The Frieda Schiff Warburg Sculpture Garden extends the experience outdoors, while the Iris and Gerald B. Cantor Auditorium hosts topically relevant lectures, concerts and films periodically.
The Collection
Of the 1.5 million objects in the collection, the non-Western artworks are the most impressive. Excellent holdings from Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the pre-Columbian Americas gain prestige from their proximity to the world-class collection of Egyptian art and antiquities. Several major exhibits--which range from surveys of contemporary artists to the repackaging of materials from the collection--are mounted yearly.
Brooklyn's Best. The Brooklyn Museum of Art is an extraordinary museum that is at once a world class institution with remarkable holdings that have attracted acclaim from scholars and connoisseurs. At the same time it is very much a community based organization that serves Brooklyn residents through programs like First Saturdays. It also presents a wide variety of special exhibitions.
Great Collections, Great Shows. Though its profile has been steadily expanding over the past few years--a new addition to the front of the museum is currently physically expanding it too--The Brooklyn Museum is still pleasantly uncrowded compared to the Met. And it should be compared to the Met: If it were in any other city in the country, it would undoubtably be one of the chief cultural assets. There is an amazing collection of Egyptian antiquities, and the temporary exhibitions have become must-sees (whether because of controversy or artistic merit, or both).
Museum Mile's Missing Marvel. Hidden away in Brooklyn is one of New York's finest institutions. The Brooklyn Museum boasts a spectacular Egyptian collection, wonderful standing exhibits, imaginative shows, and an exciting community interaction/party the first Saturday of every month. All without taking the train into the city--and just steps from the Botanic Gardens.
