love my hair. My experience at Monica's was excellent!! Its a warm cozy atmosphere where I felt most comfortable !At first I wasnt sure of what i wanted to do with my hair but the stylist Lorraine told me would be best for my hair what i couldnt and shouldn't do .She was very informative , this i can appreciate! I got a short hair cut because my hair was damaged ,but it turned out fabulous!! thanks to Monicas I look like a Diva !!Not even five minutes walking out the salon i got a compliment!!! love Monicas
My Hair Thanks You. Lorraine saved my hair!!!! After losing my stylist to inmaturity and stupidity (on the stylist part not mine) I was looking for one for about a year. I tried others who just didn't have the skills or the expertise that I expected. After reading great comments about Monica's Hair Salon on yelp, I decided to give her a try. At first appearance the salon is small but it's a nicely furnished and decorated duplex, with the dryers being on the upper level. Lorraine put a weave in my hair that was undetectable. It looked like the hair was growing from my head. She did such a great job of blending my natural hair with the extensions which can be diifcult because my hair is un processed and requires a hot comb. I left feeling great and i went back for her to wash and straighten my curly coils and again I left extremely satisfied. She can be on the pricier end (Ididn't expect to pay almost 70 bucks for a wash and curl of a weave,; but then again she did layer it) but it's worth it. Trust me you will be extremely satisfied. More importantly I am estatic because Lorraine is my official new stylist....YAAAY
At first glance, you would think, this is a great salon. But once complacency sets in on the part of the Lead Stylist you'd wish you never had step foot into this place. First, she can make hair picture perfect, and the salon is nice looking with a few recent decor changes from the previous 80's; that is, no more of that hot pink & aqua green paint. The hardwood floors and mirrors along with the new lighting is a plus. But what good is all of these "renovations" when the Lead Stylist has a bad attitude? She dawdled my time by gossiping about her clients with another stylist. After all of the mal-service, I paid my tab and gave her a tip because I knew that I would never step foot into that salon. She can style hair and the salon looks better since making a few alterations with regard to the decor, but with more than lack luster service and disrespect towards the client, this place is not worth the time nor money. So, instead of changing the salon, Lorraine needs to change her attitude, and understand the client is the client; give them what they want. She needs to know that she's providing a service!
If I were you, I wouldn't waste $37 for a wash, and if you get a deep conditioner, forget about it, your tab is $60!
