“She present a professional feeling, warm atmosphere toward her workers and clients.”
“Time is a great place to take good care of your hair, and you better believe you're paying the price for it too.”
“This ex-client would be happy to come back if you just respected my time!”
“As for the other stylists and staff (the ladies who shampoo etc), I see people who are also striving to give the client their money's worth and build a great salon.”
“really like this place, however, besides the fact that they are really expensive for styling natural hair, I wish that I didn't feel so ucomfortable trying a different stylist (within the salon) without the stylists making you feel uncomfortable (like y”
“So, my conclusion is that Time does great with short hair but not so great with the long thick kind.”
Great Salon, Great Concept, Only Human.
First, I think for people to grasp the concepf of Time Salon, I need to emphasize that this is an upscale hair salon. I think because it is a "Black" salon, there is that ignorant stigma of people associating Blacks who appreciate life's finer things as snooty and pretentious. I am sure there are a few clients of Time that are pretentious and insecure, BUT most of the clientelle I have encountered seem to really appreciate great service and excellent hair care. Personally, I take pride in myself and therefore, money is really not an option for what I deem as optimal care. I am not wealthy by any means, but I appreciate myself and treat myself well. So, receiving EXCELLENT haircare in a professional and clean atmopshere for an "above standard" price is not by any means a reason to character-assault a hair salon., its clents or stylists. Sure you can get almost the same thing cheaper somewhere, but factoring in location, experience, products, and targeted clientelle, this is the objective behind the concept. For what people spend on their hair in Manhattan salons, I see Time Salon as a deal for the quality products they use and the experience they execute. Desiree, my stylist, brings a down-to-earth yet professional approach to every client. There is no rush, she listens to her clients, and executes a well polished product everytime. As for the other stylists and staff (the ladies who shampoo etc), I see people who are also striving to give the client their money's worth and build a great salon. We are all human and often fall short, so why are these stylists any different?.
I truly appreciate this salon and its concept and hope those seeking a review take into consideration what I have outlined. There are plenty choices for hair salons etc..Like a marriage, you may connect, you may not. Ultimately it is a decision you have to make based on not only your budget, but on what level of care you want for yourself. It is a great hair salon but it is not for everyone
Great for the health of your hair, Bad at following directions.. Time is a great place to take good care of your hair, and you better believe you're paying the price for it too. The comfort is a plus and the styling is nice. They have great treatments. Only thing is, if you're trying to grow your hair, or keep the length of your hair, DO NOT ASK THEM FOR A TRIM!! They only know how to chop off your hair no matter what you tell them, they do not listen to the customer. I made that mistake, and my hair is shorter than its EVER been, EVER!! And it does Not suit my face! I looked in the mirror and I started crying immediately and told her I hate it! She apologized, but I'm the one who has to walk around with this wig looking thing on my head, and she wouldn't be apologizing if she had just listened to what I wanted, I told her about 6 times, not to cut my hair above my shoulders, she kept cutting the same spot and now I can't even feel it on my shoulders at all! I'm going to get weave put in right away, I've NEVER had fake hair in! This is ridiculous! So just beware. they don't listen, and only do their own thing, so watch carefully when they have scissors in their hand.
Worth Every Penny - THANK YOU DESIREE!!!!!.
I don't know where to begin. For starters, I normally do my own hair & I was skeptic to have just anyone in my hair. But I have about 4 girlfriends that goes to this salon and they all love it (each of them have different styles and hair textures)... so I said what the heck, go for it... and I did... WOW... the staff is friendly and professional. The salon is clean, they are NOT on thier cell phones/eating while doing your hair. Girl, the stylist themselves look like they are on the runway.... Very classy.
My stylist, Desiree is a complete sweetheart, she understood that with natural hair you have to take it piece by piece when you wash and set it... and let me tell you that she is on point when it comes to using a flat iron... she then follows it by the straightening comb for the edges! She was fabolous. Before going to the salon, my hair was pass my bra strap and she cut it & layered it to a little pass my shoulders. She recommended products that I can use on a daily basis and how to "dry curl" it at night....
Desiree herself wears her hair natural so that made me feel a big more comfortable, but then again she does my cousins hair who has a short cut and a perm, and Desiree does her hair lovely!!!!
Listen, I know that you don't know ME from a hole in the wall, but my experience was a great one. I'm going back in a couple weeks to get highlights!
The total bill amounted to $95.00 (wash, deep conditioning, set, flat iron and a layered cut)
The next day... everyone at work and in the street love it... I just had to call Desiree the next day and thank her again for the wonderful job...
Two of my girlfriends goes to Akilah & my 2 cousins goes to Desiree... Listen you can't go wrong with either one...
The jury is still out....
I have been to Time 4x with varying lengths of hair (I have gradually cut my below shoulder tresses to a pixie). Eric was great working with bobs but he didn't do that well with my pixie. But...it was a Saturday and he was overbooked as usual making it harder for him to actually pay attention to what I really wanted done.
Good salon, drama between stylists apparent, if satisfaction high then prices aren't that bad.
Can I get 5 more stars?. Amazing time. My appointment was at 9, and I started at exactly 9. Desiree and Chelle were extremely pleasant, and professional which made my experience enjoyable. Can I just say that Desiree hooked me up royally, so much so that 2 weeks later strangers are still complimenting me on my haircut. I'm Time's biggest advocate now.
I use to go to Time Salon all the time about seven years ago and then decided to change careers and simply couldn't afford it but now I'm BACK!!! (And traveling from Harlem, so you know its worth it) Anyone who says they didn't like their hair on leaving Time Salon is CRAZY!!! Now, I can only really speak on behalf of Heather and Keith - you will look fly if either of them do your hair.
Understand - this salon is NOT for the cash strapped! I went recently had a relaxer and a cut by Keith and it cost me (plus tip for him & wash girl) $220. But my hair looked soooo good....I went to my birthday party and everyone LOVED it!!
The best stylist in Brooklyn = Eric. I have been a client of Eric's since 2004. He is always professional and knows whats best for my hair. I am frequently asked who is my stylist and I proudly whip out one his business cards. Anyone who visits Time Salon should expect only the most professional atmosphere. The energy there is always positive and upbeat. This is NOT a salon with a bunch of loud talking and tackiness. The environment is calming, time efficient yet hip. Make an appointment and walk out looking and feeling great!
YOUR NOT PAYING FOR YOUR HAIR YOUR PAYING THEIR RENT IN FORTGREEN......... That was my worst experience ever. I have been wearing a short hair cut for more than fifteen years and I have never ever walk out of a saloon looking like I did my own hair. I got a Wash, Cut, no conditioner and my hair was $85.00 dollars and it looked horrible. As for the stylis (Eric) he is professional but his skills are week for doing and styling hair. But you live and learn.......... that that is not the spot to get your wig swig.
The Best Salon Experience I Ever Had!!. OKay so I finally decided to check out this salon that my sister recommended to me. First and foremost I've been wanting to cut my hair for the longest time and after two unsuccessful attempts to cut my hair I finally gave into my sisters demand. The second I walked into Time Salon I knew I was entering into something special. the salon is really hip and trendy with some of the hottest tunes blaring out the speakers. The vibes from the staff was welcoming and professional and easy to talk to. My stylist was Leatrice, she is Tha Bomb!! I told homegirl in a few words how I wanted my hair to look and she understood exactly what would work with my face and set me up with her assistant to begin the process. What impressed me the most was how involved Leatrice was with the overall handling of my hair and how she wanted everything to look at the end. This woman knows everything there is to know about hair and I love her for that!!! Time Salon is a bit pricey, but its worth every penny in the long run. I'm enjoying all the compliments people/strangers have been giving me since my haircut. I highly recommend this salon to anyone and everyone..SHouts OUt to Leatrice and the entire Time Salon Family!!!
WORST SALON EVER. I went to the Time Salon for the first time. I had passed it many times and thought it looked like a place to get my hair done. It never seemed to be overcrowded. When I got there, my stylist was late. When she got there, I told her what I wanted and she said ok. I assumed she would be doing my hair the entire time. Someone else permed, washed, and dried my hair. My stylist never even explained this processed to me. As for the wash, other than the neutralizing shampoo, there was one shampoo wash. The stylist then cut my hair and styled it. My hair looked like a "HOT MESS" when she was done. Not only did it look bad, but it felt hard. To top everything off, she charged me $112. TOOOOOOOOOOOO much money for the job she did. If you are in the area and want a good salon at reasonable prices and nice hairstyles, I reccommend FOLICLES. Your will wait a bit, but your hair will look fabulous.
