“went to the 171 Park Ave (at Adelphi) location for repair of a flat tire, general tune up and adjustment to handle bars.”
“The poor customer service was the icing on the cake.”
“If you want a nice, reliable bike, want it to be comfortable and/or fast and aren't trying to impress all of your nouveau riche friends, this is the place to go.”
“The owner seems pretty nice when he's not inundated with customers, and prices for parts and service seem to be in line with other small shops, too.”

Friendly staff, chill vibe and quick service.
I went in here by chance a few weeks ago when I was riding on the 5 Boro tour, got a flat in or around Williamsburg, forgot how to use my CO2 cartridge (1st time using one) to fix the flat myself,
was directed by tour marshals to a Tour rest area in Commodore Barry park that was supposed to have a repair tent but didn't...and then was directed to this little shop 5 blocks from the rest area.
Because there wasn't a repair tent at the rest area, Bicycle Station was filled with other 5 Boro unfortunates who needed repairs...but the staff there was really cool with everyone who descended upon them en masse during the time I was in there, some with more serious mechanical problems than just a flat. The cool mechanic fixed my flat pronto, checked it thoroughly so got both the metal spike and the glass out, charged me a low rate (same price as the shop I use in East Harlem where I live) rather than taking advantage of the situation. Didn't make me feel stupid that I forgot how to use the CO2 cartridge or preferred to have them fix the flat at that point rather than just using their air pump and doing it myself. Absolutely no attitude, nothing but helpfulness and good will and no macho BS that I often experience in bike shops.
If I lived in the area, I would definitely give Bicycle Station my business for parts, adjustments and more serious repairs. It's always so heartening to find down-to-earth, decent bike shops where you are not subjected to cooler-than-thou attitudes, condescending *friendliness*, or shoddy repair work by people who don't take you seriously yet demand your respect. Bicycle Station got me back on the road pronto, and with a smile on my face too.…
Great work, inexpensive, great vibe. I went to the 171 Park Ave (at Adelphi) location for repair of a flat tire, general tune up and adjustment to handle bars. They did all this with an absolute minimum of fuss and in very little time for $55. They seemed to really love fixing bikes. I brought a book to read during the repair, because I do not live near the G line and wanted to ride the bike to and from the place. (The tire leak was slow enough to permit this.) They were happy to give extra attention, e.g., volunteering to go outside and check my seat height, angle and position adjustments. Good place.…
Dedicated to making it right. I had a really minor problem that nevertheless required a number of visits, through no fault of theirs. There was no money in it for them, but I always felt that the staff (Austin, in particular, but everyone I dealt with) were completely dedicated to getting to a satisfactory solution -- to making sure I got what I needed. Also, no attitude, as I have a completely unglamorous work-a-day bike.…
I love bikes. I had the best most amazing experience buying my first serious tour bike there. Such a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Totally did not mind that I know nothing about bikes. They were so patient and taught me so much. Love love love this place! And I LOOOVE my bike!!! Best best, can't say enough, best bike experience. heart them so much. :)…
Bicycle Station has relocated!.
Bicycle Station did not close! They have relocated - not too far from the Vanderbilt location.
The new address is 171 Park Avenue and Adelphi.
Just take Vanderbilt Ave. north to Park Ave. - make a left and go about two blocks west. Look for the blue and yellow sign that says BIKES.
A nice new location, with a great atmosphere - same awesome crew. Convenient access from Flushing or Myrtle if you are commuting to and from either of the downtown bridges.…
