This is the best Italian Restaurant I have ever been. I have traveled the world and lived in various places. Italy being one of them. By far, this is the most authentic taste. I love going there to dine because the staff is so friendly and warm.
Arrivederci
Delicious.
There is a reason Maria's has been the staple of Sheapshead bay for 80 years nows... The restaurant has it ALL. Great, authentic Italian food, the friendliest and best staff, a great atmosphere, and a owner who obviously knows exactly what hes doing, and how to do it RIGHT.
I highly recommend this restaurant to you all. Its a CLASSIC.
You Don't Have to Go to Italy For Fabulous Italian Food. I live in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, but this summer I went to Italy and I had a stopover in New York.. I visited some friends who live in Brooklyn. They took us to Maria's, a restaurant they have been going to forever. I have to say, the Food was outstanding. I loved the baked clams, and the cold antipasta platter . My Salmon entre was excellent and my husband's chicken scarperella was delicious. After spending a week in Venice, Rome and Sienna, Italy, I can honestly say Maria's food was just as good! I don't have to travel 6,000 miles away for real AUTHENTIC Italian Cuisine!
execellent restaurant. maria's restaurant has been a landmark in brooklyn since 1932 so we decided to take our in-laws their for their 43rd anniversary. The food was exceptional and the friendly staff brought out a cake with a candle on it when they knew it was their anniversary and then the whole restaurant got involved in singing happy anniversary to them. We really had fun that night and i would highly recommend this restaurant
The worst place ever. I took my family there for my sister b-day.we used to go there years ago, well first off when I asked to see the owner who we new they said he was not in ....later find out that the original owners has passed away..The guy who owns it now has no relations to them..I new the original owners there food was excellent this explains why the food was so lousey...The service was horrible the staff was rude we wait almost an hr with reserations ...We would never go back and the price were way off . STAY FAR AWAY The sad part is that the owner now says he is related to them NOT AT ALL he is jewish has no relations to them....Can't even speak ITALIAN that's sad maybe he should open up a deli
Reservation from HELL.
I went to Maria' s five days in advance to make a reservation 13 people, included our grandchildren to celebrate my wifes birthday. When we arrived they told us an hour wait? So what do you need a reservation for. Then after waiting and talking to the hostess and owener. the wait time changed finally since we had children with us we had to leave and search for another restaurant. A joyous occasion turned in the worst night of my life for my self and my wide.
What is the sense of making a reservation when the restaurant does not honor it. You expect to go out and have a joyous time celebrating a birthday and it turns into the night that should have not happened.
Maybe the food is good. but the ower has no respect for his customers / clients. And on this note I will never go back to Maria's.
Food Quality and Services has been deterioating. First time I dinned at Maria's was in 98, found it a very charming place with good fresh pasta, good food and warm reception. But I notice that both food and service quality has been sliding down for the last few years. My most recent visit was last Saturday (6/7/08). Food was average and service was at immature level. The place does not serve fresh quality food anymore. Maria is becoming just another commercialized "DINNER" with higher prices and dim lights.

Food is unbelievable great, serviz outstanding, we meet the owner Jeff, what a great guy, thank you very much for a good time, we back soon , cheescake hmmm...
